So I really wanna get into this.I'm in video tech right now and the equipment and the whole process of it all is just amazing.We have an individual project somming up and I was ganna make a short film on some teenagers fucked up lives in High school, but thats another story.
Does anyone have experiance with this, and would mine telling me some good but not too expensive equipment?
And some tips?
i've had to make films for a bunch of classes over the years. one thing for sure, if you have a PC, find somewhere where you can use a mac to edit your film. seriously, i like PC's so much better but macs are way easier to edit movies on. if you're near a college campus, you may be able to rent a camera which would be a cheaper option than buying one. and you'll need a tripod. have fun!
i want to get into makin films myself. i am currently writing a screenplay at the moment.

we have a film class at school that I took basically all you need is a camera + editing program on a computer; you can basically do ANYTHING with that after you have the scenes and everything on your camera.

I've been thinking of going to film school as well.. but if I can remember correctly, which I can't, a good starter camera thats relatively cheap (they shot the entire blair witch project with this type of camera) is like the Sony X3000 PowerShot? something to that effect.. I know its made by Sony, and I know it has X and a number in the thousands. The PowerShot might be another camera I'm thinking of.. I'll try and find out exactly for you.

The Sony HDS-X3000. PowerShot is just another digital camera that was on my mind because of the media I'm sure. Bastards.

Haha thanks for the tips, but its not even like that.The only reason I'm writting this screenplay it to be part of the filming and editing process in the long run.And I don't even plan on selling sheeit, well not any time soon atleast.
Without offending...you probably won't..NOBODY sells their first screenplay...Writing one is an art that not everyone can do[look in your local cinema for evidence..lol]
It is more than just having a good idea for the plot...it's about pacing it and making it readable to the Script Reader/Agent, and not cliche. having an idea for a scene or a character that inspires you to want to expand it into a script is the easy part..the hard part is finding the rest of the material to expand the initial concept into a full , working, pacy,DIFFERENT screenplay...
So keep it up and you will see that practice makes perfect!
