Confused as fuck...can anyone explain this?

ok i used to hang around with a really religious family...the daughter was my best friend. but its been along time so i dont really know if i remember the bible stuff correctly. and this post isn't meant to poke fun at the bible its an honest question....so anyone with real input please respond...


anyways:

ok in the beginning, like when adam and eve's kids went off on their own, didn't they end up being with women/men that weren't "of god"? like basicly as if they went off outta the garden or whatever...found other people roaming around, and got with em and stuff.

i dunno if this is making any sense. but my question is....if God created everyone/everything...then how were there other people on the earth? if the only ones he made were adam, eve, and their peoples?

Alot of the books in the bible are either false or altered greatly from their originals in order to provide "explanations" for christianity. Fact is, a ton of 'em were written just to keep people of the catholic church in order...

yeah, that whole incest deal always confused me. I picked up a bible to try to clear that up, but it was more like "so adam and eve had kids, and those kids married up with bob and bill (who came out of nowhere), who hitched up with jim and tim (who came out of nowhere).......". I'm rather surprised that the intelligent design proponents on CNN were still trying to prove how we can all trace our lineage to adam and eve, especially since we need something like 230 people to make a clean enough gene pool. I think 40 is the minumum innitial number to maintain a species, assuming you don't mind all the drawbacks of some harsh inbreeding.

well i know that i believe that the bible is TOTAL BULLSHIT...lmao...but i seem to recall somewhere they say that they left and went out into the rest of the earth and ended up finding wives and junk...but the wives i'm speaking of weren't their sisters. i dunno. maybe someday i'll look it up online cuz i'm not gonna bring a bible into my house.

but yeah the reason i asked yall is cuz i asked a guy at the washateria yesterday afternoon the same question and he never once attempted to answer it. just spouted off something about how god is real and he wants us to worship him. :confused: :confused:

LOL grab a book on the history of christianity man... I swear it's almost funny to discover how many of the books conflict with the religion itself... None of it makes sense man, why do you think people get all offended when you question the reality of jesus and god, etc? Cuz they don't have SHIT to back up their beleifs...

Actually, while Adam and Eve did have two sons, Cain & Able (one killed the other), they had several more children after that and they did do some incest (sis, only if you were the only chick on earth besides mom). I'd try reading the Bible before making claims that it's a bunch of BS.

I personally believe it's true; besides, it has better insight than "if you blow up yourself and other innocent people, you will have 30 virgins waiting for you to have sex on the other side".

Also, the Bible acknowledges that none of us are perfect and that we can't achieve perfection in this life. We were all made in the image of Adam, the fallen man ("fell" in the Garden of Eden), but the Bible says that's why Jesus came and lived a perfect life for us and was crucified, to pay our debt for our sin and imperfection b/c we can't do it ourselves. Not preaching, just trying to give a view that isn't muddled with "send me your money" or "you're gonna burn, you evildoers". Jesus hung out with "sinners", but it was the religious of his day that he said would be the ones to burn. Just my observations. I know many disagree, and that's quite alright.

Supposedly they were geneticly superior and could live for hundreds of years back then. As more people bred with each other we came to this point where we only live almost to 100.

And as far as evolution is concerned, if one person evolved, was it man or woman? And if two evolved, and one "happened" to evolve into a man & the other a woman, they would have had to evolve at the same time, and would they not have sex and have children, who would have to have sex w/each other? I don't get evolution myself...I mean, what are the odds that an ape would evolve into a human, and if so, they would have to have sex with other apes, right? The odds are so against it (evolution), and still how often are mutations (what evolutionist claim is how humans came about) beneficial? I firmly believe in adaptation, but not evolution. And so is that heaven/hell concept. Like if you sin you are going burn in hell when you pass? something to believe in. I think my grandmother said it best the other day when she said without god, or church, she would've never been able to take
care of my grandfather as long as she has.

mention improbable. Definitely research and draw your own conclusions. :)

Not a problem, we all have our beliefs. I believe what I believe same goes for you. The way I look at it, if I believe and I'm right, then it's all good, and if I'm wrong, no loss. But if I'm wrong, well then that would suck. It's a choice we all make, to believe what we want. We'll just have to wait and see who's right....

Grandmas are cool; so are Grandpas. At least most of them anyway. I've been through a lot in my life, and I believe that without God (not neccesarily depending on church), I'd probably be dead or in jail. I realize I'm drawing some conclusions based on the unseen, but I guess that's faith. Folks can call me clueless, a fool, naive or what you will. you know it's useless to ask something like this to any god believing person... the only thing every christian seems to be good at (i say every, because each person of course would have their good/bad things that tehy do well/bad) is making excuses when a MAJOR (not talking about shit like in this book it says he was on the right but in this one it says the left, we're talking about major contradictions that change everything) flaw in their book is pointed out... i've tried to corner them numerous times here and lots of other places, and every time i have something "so good there's no way they'll find their way out of it" they immediately spout off some excuse, i think at this point they're more afraid to admit we (atheist, agnostics, non believers, and believers of rival religions) have been right all along more than it is that they think they're right....but i can see christianity (along with religions in generally) is slowly dying off, because as we grow smarter and smarter, back in the day people were so scared of god they'd do anything someone told htem to do, just to not piss him off... and as you can see, it's not like that anymore...may not be in this lifetime or the next, but i have a feeling eventually we will find absolutely air-tight solid proof that a god or gods never did exist.

Right, let's see:

Elohim is a plural word, including male and female, and should properly be translated "Gods" or "Pantheon."

Now clearly, here we are talking about the original creation of the human species: male and female. All the animals,plants, etc. have all been created in previous verses. This is before the Garden of Eden, and Yahweh is not mentioned as the creator of these people. The next chapter talks about how Yahweh, an individual member of the Pantheon, goes about assembling his own special little botanical and zoological Garden in Eden, and making his own little man to inhabit it:

Gen 2:7 - Yahweh God fashioned a man of dust from the soil. Then he breathed into his nostrils a breath of life, and thus the man became a living being.
8 Yahweh God planted a garden in Eden which is in the east, and there he put the man he had fashioned.
9 Yahweh God caused to spring up from the soil every kind of tree, enticing to look at and good to eat, with the tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil in the middle of the garden.
15 Yahweh God took the man and settled him in the garden of Eden to cultivate and take care of it.

So that's the creation of Adam and Eve... now let's move onto the kids...

Now it doesn't mention here where Seth's wife came from. Another woman from Nod, possibly, or maybe someone from another neolithic community downstream in the Tigris-Euphrates valley. But her folks also, cannot be of the lineage of Adam and Eve, and must also be counted among "the other people."
