significant differences of injecting rather than smoking marijuana.

does anyone know of any? the only one i can think of is that it may prove healthier to your lungs, and of course an injection would prove more useful and efficient than smoking, but if that's the case then we should all just smoke more. right?

Injecting marijuana is a stupid idea, why would anyone do that? Just get a vapouriser if you don't wanna smoke it.

I can think of a significant disadvantage with that...the disadvantage being looking like a smackhead just for wanting a toke.

actually...the doctors responsible for bringing us up-to-date with marijuana discoveries in health, inject the cannabinoid THC directly into the specimens. you didn't think they just smoked them out...did you?

Sorry, i'm a little tired. I was thinking in terms of plant matter, not the pure cannabinoid. I'm thankfully not that stupid :)

yeah ganj, the injection of thc could be less harmful, but i fear the negative connotation of ganja will certainly not be diminished by proposing that right now. maybe wait until a further stage of debate to offer that. certainly the asthmatic and lungpatients in general could be helped by this. ironically enough cannabinoids cÃ*n resolve lung problems.

Injecting marijuana is something I wouldn't do. For one, how fun is it to feel a prick in your arm and carefully slide a needle into one of your main veins? Doesn't sound like much fun to me. Anything that would be injected would have to be synthezized THC, not actual THC cabbanoids from a plant...I think anyways.

And yes, there is a new medical spray out there called "Sativex" Here is their site:

Although, from reading about synthetic THC, it is found not to be as effective as actually smoking the real deal.

There is marinol which has been on the market for a while and was used for medicinal purposes ( I'm not sure if marinol is still on the market ) to treat hospital patients that qualified for this treatment. Marinol is a synthetic composition of the THC molecule and is considered legal only because it is made in a tax paying laboratory. The ironies of life...

In short, the smoking of crude marijuana is more efficient in delivering THC and, in some cases, it may be more effective.

Smoking joints is amazingly good for tasting the weed/hash but unfortunately, is possibly the least efficient way of consuming it. Whilst you are passing/holding/between tokes, smoke is pouring out of your joint and essentially bud is going to waste. I know this sounds nitpicky, ingesting or smoking with a bong/vapouriser is sooo much more efficient, just less social and less cliched.

Yes, instead of breathing in smoke through your lungs lets push needles in our arms and inject it directly into the blood stream. That sounds so much safer.

From a "not getting cancer" p.o.v. it probably is....

What about eating it? I suspect that if there are any advantages to injecting it over smoking it, they would be pretty much the same advantages offered by just eating it.

THC and other cannabinoids dissolve readily in fat but not in water. This limits the possible formulations of cannabis and cannabinoid preparations, and slows down their absorption from the gut. On the other hand, when cannabis is smoked (in a "joint" or "reefer", or in a pipe), THC is absorbed very quickly into the bloodstream, through the large surface area of the pharynx and the lungs. After smoking, the psychoactive effects of THC are perceptible within seconds, and peak effects are achieved within minutes. When cannabis or cannabinoids are taken by mouth, peak effects may not occur for several hours, but they last longer. After smoking or oral ingestion, the drug persists in the brain longer than in the blood; so the psychological effects persist for some time after the level of THC in the blood has begun to decline.

3.4 Smoking delivers 30 per cent or more of the total THC in a cannabis cigarette to the blood stream. yeah, but you have to cook it in with food to eat it (eating it strait won't work for the most part), eating can have a delayed and unpredictable reaction (like getting high in 20 minutes or the next morning), and you have to use up a LOT more to get the same effect.

It is possible if done properly. That would mean a very high purity extract which would have to be made into an aqueous solution with hydroxypropyl-beta-cyclodextrin and hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, otherwise it isn't water soluble and unsuitable for injection.

Really? I haven't ever eaten it myself, but I've heard some people who say it's stronger when you eat it than when you smoke it.

In any case, I'd be willing to deal with those disadvantages if it means I didn't have to stick a needle in my arm. I hate needles.

the reason i ask is because every time i read a document on revolutionary health discoveries from marijuana, the scientist always adds, "we don't know if the same results would occur from smoking cannabis". they cut straight to the chase and inject marijuana straight into the brain of the specimen. maybe they should start smoking out the rats.
