New idea from P.E.N.G.U.I.N. and Fan O' KmK

Okay. Ages ago, some of you regulars may remember, I wrote an essay on marijuana. While it was a very nice paper, it was met with much skepticism and many jokes from the pack. Determination has taken hold, and I am ready to start anew. I will write one page in standard formatting about a narrow enough for one page yet broad enough to write one page subject. All will be about marijuana, the subject will just be broken up into a series to keep people vaguely interested. The plan is to spread these in public places, which is a perfectly legal exercise of freedom of speech, and see how much trouble these letters, so to speak, will cause. Maybe the buzz will be strong enough to get people talking? Who knows, but I feel it's worth a shot.

First letter: Few readers, some may tell friends and ask them to read it as well. Some see the title and put it down promptly.

Second letter: More readers, because the ones who put it down last week with no more than a mere glance will have been intruigued enough to read it.

The number of readers will likely grow with every paper, should I keep on track.

Comments? Questions? Obscenities?

Id totally agree with what you guys are doing... but I cant understand too much right now.

i think this is a great idea. however, you cant blatantly advertise that it is about marijuana or people will throw it out as soon as they get it... like it cant be out in bold or anything, it has to say like the truth or something on the front and nothing about weed. and be sure to use only scientific terms no slang...

You have a point, however many people do actually get a bit intruigued when the heading reads "Marijuana".

Free samples? Are you insane? I'd rather be smoking a joint and blow a nice two lungs full of smoke into their face when I hand it to them.

Waste 'o' time. Nobody cares but pot smokers. I hate to sound assumptious, but you don't sound like the type who's willing to go to jail for the cause and those are the only people who can make a difference.

If legalizing in a city isn't enough... a paper?

There's already books, essays and articles about the subject, so just leave it alone. I promise you, nobody cares. It's cynical, but it's practical. Believing a paper will make any bit of difference is just an ego trip. Direct your energy into rolling blunts and learn to live with it because it's going to be at least a decade before any real changes start happening.

And so the antagonist arrives. Well, it couldn't hurt to try, and no, I can't go to jail for anything more than littering.

And you misinterpreted what I said, Penguin. I meant that the only activists capable of making any sort of impact are the one's willing to be jailed for what they believe in. Think about MLK Jr. for example, and more appropriately, Marc Emery. That's the kind of activism that can spark change, but also the kind that will inevitably get you in trouble.

Go smoke a bowl and be happy, you'd be disheartened if you found out just how powerless individuals are.
