I didn't know MODs had access to ISP addy's

Wow,
Learn something new here everyday. Didn't realize it was that easy with the right tools to gain isp addresses here. Nor did I know the mods have access as well.
No one really cares if administration and mods and of course those (feds, home invaders, rippers) with the right tools have your isp addy.. right???
After all... Internet Service Provider addresses can only be traced to the carrier, but the carrier (isp) has account records which also can be access.
I thought this was interesting.

I don't know what happened and how this shit started but I'm tired of it. Innuendo and gossip are all I've seen. Then you come into chat repeatedly and won't chat. I'm confused and frankly a lil hurt. Seems I got caught in the middle of something I can't see. :(

Well kuul, It all strated when I tried to dodge canna-kids and on-line sales from here. Isn't a day gone by with-out being asked where, who and if I can sell some weed. Finally after reading about Pryor's death, memories, comments and than reading people completing a drug deal in the middle of it was the last straw.
No one cares about this site or Ron as long as they profit or gain drugs from here.
Site was an informational site for legalization of marijuana some 4 years ago. Now its a BIG drug ring and some of my new found friends have placed them selves in danger not only to them selves but to there family as well.. Don't know about you but I care about my friends and will protect till Ron or Mods exile me.

Eh? What is the problem? What danger? Talking about illegal activities wasn't illegal last i checked. What evidence is there that any of these deals actually happened?

Of course staff can see IP addresses. We have the same deal at WT. It makes an IP ban (or IP umbrella ban) easy to do, so the aforementioned deusche bags can't just re-register.

Has to drive the drug dealers nuts though... At least I hope so.
Sure miss this site as being just an informational and stoney chats.
In stead it's run now by wanna-be drug lords and canna-kids.
So much for legalization aspects here as the dealers are over powering it. After all they can't make the big bucks if it's legalized.

Visitors do not have access to other people's IP addresses here - there could be some security holes somewhere that make it possible, but the easy ways, such as image trackers (among the reasons the IMG tag is disabled here), are disabled.

IPs prove little to nothing in a court of law; in Muhlenburg Township (outside Reading, PA) there was a case of a teenager several years ago who sent bomb threats from an internet cafe - the authorities quickly traced the IP to a particular teen who had been at the cafe - and was confirmed by others ... and yet despite all that, the judge tossed the case out - it never went to trial from what recall ... point is that IPs alone generally are not enough.

Another aspect to consider is that an IP address(es) alone can't be trusted as authentic due to various technical reasons... routing, log manipulation, obscure/unknown bugs in the various applications on the user's computer and/or webserver, etc - take apache ... how reliable is its logging? ... it's certainly not 100% ... I occasionally see corrupt log line errors when running stats off the logs.

Even assuming an IP(s) is definitely associated with a particualar computer, how can one be sure the person in question was using that computer at the time - but even assuming they were, perhaps there was a backdoor - that is perhaps someone else / program was actually performing the actitivies in question; routing through them.

Anyways, for those truly concerned about their personal security, they should be wary of who, including friends, family, etc, they personally correspond with in email, IM, in-person, on phone, etc ... that's how most folks engaged in risky activities experience "problems".

Finally, personal privacy / security is ultimately the responsibility of the visitor - any website that claims they have 100% security or whatever is ignorant of the issues involved, or more likely just outright lying, since the average consumer PC has numerous holes - Windows itself has numerous unpatched holes, and likely some backdoors - ever wonder why "clear history" doesn't really clear one's history - what those hidden index.dat files really for? -umm, few seem to really know for sure, but it's curious that the authorities are often among the most frequent beneficiaries...

Linux and Apple based computers have their own flaws - even if one assumes their PC is 100% secure, how about the network they're on, the website they're visiting, etc, etc ... point is that computer security is very difficult; most all consumer PCs are wide-open ... running Norton, scanners, anonymizers, etc won't change that ... but talking in generalities, not blabbing about details to others, etc can make a difference and offer some real security.

I don't care anymore either... Let them all learn the hard way... and the others rot in prison. Just sets us back aways but what else is new.

Been a state issued permit holder since '99 Federally inspected in 2000
25 years of marijuana horticulture before that,
and the US government pays me to sit on my ass all day and do what ever.

Tons of traffic + free advertising = plenty of business opportunity for MoM peeps.

Either you allow advertising or you don't. At WT we don't allow any advertising without the person getting the express permission of the staff before hand, which prevents the mass amount of one-post advertisers from clogging up the forums.

But, with the amount of regulars here it doesn't really seem to drastically hinder regular discussion. These boards still have many cool topics and cool members, even with the MoM stuff going on. I wouldn't say they "run" the boards per say..but I hear ya. Meh...it's all about what you're looking for.

it does not require the right tools, mods can simply look at your ip from a post you make, like every other forum in the world.
