Ok first here are some pictures of our plant...
You can look at this thread http://boards.cannabis.com/showthrea...7&page=1&pp=25 that has follwed the growth of our plant....
I was basicly wondering if this is going good?
-6 (Ish) week of veg now.
-No nutrients used
-Only been using tap water
-Tin foil used for reflecting
-1 CFL light used
-Its 40 to 50 cm tall
When we start flowering (very soon, a week or less) were going to be using the same light, just a diff bulb (red spec), i heard that if we do this, we will get crappy buds, and it will suck basicly? Is this true... ?
Also, then bushy bit at the bottom... whats going on with that? Should this be bigger? Should we 'tie' down some leaves of somthing to get more light here?
The Stem is kinda red/purple in some places, from the bottom to about half way it, its all a red-ish color... normal?
What would be the best way to boost our yeilds? Bearing in mind... were dont have much dolla to spend... hense our set up =/
And what would be the estimated time for flowering, 8 weeks? (If so.... its gonna take ages more :(... but will be worth it, and were willing to wait)
I think its looking pretty sweet if you ask me, but this is out first grow....
If you can spare the time, would like advice and comments and the questions answerd if possible. :) PLEASEEEE!!!
Also, if you were in our position, what ajustments would you make, to make the plant better....
We really need some experienced person(s) to guide us to the right direction for some sweet buds :D

what is the wattage on your cfl??
it looks good but could have got that big alot kwiker with more light
you will definately want to add more cfls to your setup during flowering.. the more , the better
you want 5000-7000 lumens per square foot in your grow space... so you will want at least 1 more cfl, 2 more would be better, assuming you have a 45w/3000lumens, the largest available in most stores

i have no idea what i have..... its cfl from a hardware store, i bought it froma grow shop with its shade with it and that. But i got have idea what its giving out.... check the ghetto grow thread [link in first post] i think maye i posted a icture of the while set up...

a 125w
so your good, but you will probably want to switch to a flowering bulb for it
right now you probably have the blue bulb, you need the red one

yea yea, we have that. Well, we were screwing it in and it popped, and we didnt do shit. But were getting another.
So do u think our buds will turn out shit, like i have been hearing? And can you possible answer some of these questions... .:D

One thing you might want to try right now is bending. Bend the top over enough so the top is below the tips of most of your secondaries. This will stimulate growth of the secondary branches and hopefully increase your yield in the end.
Why aren't you using any nutrients?
Read through the other thread but didn't see any mention of genetics...is this from bag seed? I'm asking because your plant appears to be Sativa.
You might be able to get some decent bud from this plant...good luck
Dboy

Were not using any nutrients, and just tap water.
Yea, we have no idea of the strain or anything, its just some random seed from some weed. I have no idea what sort of weed either.
And also, how would i get my plant to stay bent? And once its bent, wont it only make one side grow, and the under side not? Please give advise as best you can :D

High Wonder Weed Boy or whatever :D,
I have, several times, successfully grown a plant, from seed to harvest, with satisfying results, with nothing but CFL's.
I have looked at your pictures and the plant looks very happy and healthy, nice job
Now, when you do switch to flowering, try and get the bulb with a red spec. as that will keep the plants internodes tight instead of spaced out. If you can't get a hold of a red light spec. bulb, just a normal, CFL bulb will work. Now, the specs. I don't know, but when I used CFL's, the lights had a slight yellow color to them when lit, like the color of a normal bulb, but brighter.
You have used a 125W of CFL's up this point, correct? If so, if you want anything worthwhile, I suggest adding a extra 25-100W CFL bulb, red spec. or the yellow(like I mentioned). The reason you want to add a little more light is so the buds don't stretch and you get airy, lanky buds. Adding even 25W of extra light while flowering will reduce stretch, and increase density.
I use to use 65W of CFL's for vegging, 1 plant, and add 2 more floro tubes of light, an extra 40W of lighting for flowering, and I would easily bring in 20g's of quality weed.
My suggestion is, add some more light for flowering. Other than that, looks good, peace :pimp:

Oh ya, and bending, all that does is give more light to the side branches, increasing the side branches in size, and some in yeild.

listen to the guy i would have said it but he did so keep it up mate

Ok thanks everyone, il post in the ghettogrow thread more updates etc soon.
Im still alittle confused about bending. You want me to the the top of my plant down, so its attached somehow at the ditr it came from? Wont my plant snap from doing this, or get damaged? And once its bent do you ever make it straight again? And if u bud it bent, wont the bud only be good on the side of the plant that the light goes on to, the under side wont be getting any light?

no you bend it slightly sideways.. so instead of growing up it is on an angle
its called LST - low stress training.. dont bend it any farther than 90 degree MAX.. if you leave it tied at 90 or higher it becomes heavy bondage and it can stress your plant.. just bend it slightly enough so that your secondary growth has better light exposure... your secondary branches will grow up and away from the plant, leaving you with several smaller main colas... it will increase yield just a little , but more importantly you will have more uniform potency.. no trashy little popcorn nugs from the bottom part of the plant :D
so instead of looking like this : | .. your stem will look more like this: /
you get the idea
as long as its not like this: -- then its cool :)

People train plants all the time by forcing stems horizontally. What are you talking about?
You aren't going to hurt her as long as you don't break or bruise anything. Just use common sense, bend, and tie. It really isn't rocket science.
CFL Grow - Need CFL/Grow Experts! BOBBONG??!
bending the plant in any way causes stress
hence the term LOW stress training
bending it horizontally is basically a scrog.. and it ceases to be low stress
perfectly doable, but every time i do it i get males.. maybe i got bad luck.. but i get better ratios when i dont tie them down that heavily :twocents:

I was under the impression (and still am) that "low" stress denotes any stress that doesn't actually cause harm or cause the plant to temporarily stop growth to recover. You can even go beyond horizontal or do the bending in stages (i.e a little per day) if the stem is woody or packed with carbohydrates. A SCROG is when you train a plant under a screen.
So... what are you talking about? :D
CFL Grow - Need CFL/Grow Experts! BOBBONG??!
all the scrogs i have seen involve bending the plant at 90 degrees and letting it veg until the secondary growth fills up the screen... you can bend it that far in LST, i just prefer not to is all :D
