My Northern Lights Clone..Simple
Here is a clone I took from 1 of my 3 flowering female Northern Lights (Auroa Borialus). I cut it 3 weeks ago. The procedure I used was very simple. I just cut the clone leaving about 4-5" of stem. I then placed in a small buttertub with a hole in the cover for the stem, I change the water every 1-2 days. And here are the pics. I didnt use any rockwool or cloning hormones at all. Just bottled spring water. This is what it looks like after 3 weeks. I actually for now have it under the flowering lights on the 12/12 with the flowering plants. BUT Now I will put her under a 24/0 Floros. light schedule. I read about this procedure but never heard it being used. Well here is the proof that it does work. :D
The bud shot is how frosty the Northern lights Flowering mother is progressing. Peace....MrP.

Thanx guys, I cant wait until they are ready. Last time I grew these I couldnt wait and harvested at 8 weeks into flowering. I should have waited 2 more weeks which I will do this time. I just planted the clone into soil today so hopefully that one takes off and will be ready for flowering by the time the others are done flowering. I am also entering the 4th week of flowering so almost 1/2 way there, peace...MrP.

That looks awesome. I am planning on growing some northern lights here in about a month. That makes me even more excited to see pics of how good it looks. Keep us updated with pics every once in a while.

Mr. Potsmoker, where do you make the cut, and when?
My Northern Lights Clone..Simple
I actually cut the clone from a flowering female. I cut the lower brach that was reaching for the light and left about 4" for roots to grow from. I left in water for 2-3 weeks than planted the female. It has now firmly grown roots and starting to grow nicely now. I have it under 24/0 Warm floros and spray them about 3 times a day. A picture is to follow soon. Peace...MrP.

can someone explain cloneing to me ?
My Northern Lights Clone..Simple
does the cutting have to be in water or can you put it directly into soil?
My Northern Lights Clone..Simple
take a cut of what part of the plant? a stem?
My Northern Lights Clone..Simple
:D got a couple of plants three weeks into flowering....didnt think i could keep my set up so didnt bother earlier to take a cutting!taken all excess leaves off to aid in the bloom and was wondering if it was to late to take a cutting?not really any good cut off points to many buds everywhere>>?is it still possible to clone or will i have to start from seeds...any advice would be appreciated.....

Great Idea Mr PotSmoka,
Ive been trying to solve a problem, how to keep an eternal growth pattern going using clones but only one small grow area.
Im wondering if your system here might be what the Dr ordered. Can I just check over what you did?
You took the cuttings from the least advanced parts of the plant (which was in flower)
You then put the cutting in nothing but water (changed regular)
This went in the same area as you were flowering in for the first 3 weeks.
Is this right? If it is then is there a chance that I could...
Take cuttings at week 6,
Put them in water changed regular,
Put them in the same flowering room,
switch them to 18/6 after I harvest the flowering plant (about 3 weeks later)
switch them back to 12/12 about 2 weeks later.
and the cycle starts again.
Does this sound possible?

That is correct. The clone I have is looking a little sickly, I have neglected it a little. But yes I just left it in the same room and when it got a nice root ball i planted. I think I gave it too much heat because it looks crispy. I put in a box with warm floros. Will not do that again. I notice that the bottom fan leaves on the clone always yellow and die but then I just pick them off. Hope this helps, Peace...MrP.

I am posting this to help all I hope.
How to air-layer a clone.
ITEMS NEEDED:
PLANT!
Match sticks or toothpick
Tape
Razor blade
Rooting hormone (Clonex)
Tweezers
Plastic wrap
Scissors
(1) Sterilize all your cutting tools before
using them.
(2) Find a branch that is at least 1/8 inch
thick with a minimum of two nodes.
(3) Use the Razor Blade to split the branch
vertically / lengthwise.
(4) Use tweezers to open the slit. Do not break
the branch totally.
(5) Get â??clonexâ?? and apply it to the open
wound. Tape a match stick parallel to the stem
for support.
(6) Pack the open wound carefully with any grow
medium, or use a rockwool cube to cover the
area (just split the cube down one side and
slide over the branch).
(7) Wrap the area with the small plastic bag.
The effect of this should be a funnel shaped
plastic wrap enclosure.

(8) Pack the bag with grow medium before
closing with tape.
(9) Use a pin to create holes around bag. This
will allow soil/medium to receive air.
(10) Use an eyedropper to keep the soil wet. Do
this everyday. After 2 weeks your cutting will
have developed roots and you can cut away the
branch below the roots. Now you have a clone
with roots ready for growth. You can choose to
remove the plastic bag if you feel that it is
too tight to allow all the roots to pass
through it.
