To Harvest or Not to Harvest...Pls Help

okay it's been a while since Ive posted a topic, I became a bad parent and didnt take the best care of my girls but obviously enough cause my girls are fine, coulda done better but still giving me plenty of flower...the problems I had was lack of water was drying up my feeder leaves lost tons of thosenow visually they look fine not all stick like with a couple leaves and hardly any flower infact im lookin at a lot of flower but I would have twice as much...second 1 of my plants looked very female well turned out to be a male and pollinated my crop...still got flower and looks great but half the THC content and Flower size, I messed up I know we live and learn well I got a whole bunch of babies and 2 G-13 clones goin right now and it is cold as hell in room exept for 1 spot where I run my 2 1000w MH's....I'm litterally 2 days away from 8 weeks and the cold is stunting my babies for the 12 hours a day those lights are off and they are under the floro's....should I say "F" it and pull my girls and 8 weeks, by the way im doin soil...should I pull em or wait a week or 2 more as soil takes from 8 to 12 weeks...some reply's ASAP would be great cause time is runnin out and unless someone tells e im a fool for doin it im gonna do it...Thanks for your time...

Hello M :) I would love to be able to give you a definite answer but I'm affrad I can't.
I'm prehaps one of the worst people for harvesting too soon :o

If it's the cold that you are worried about, well the cold does slow down a plants metobolic rate. However as long as they are protected from frost they should be ok ;)
At the present the only heat I have in my growroom is a 400 watt light and when that is off a night there is no heat at all. The outside tempretures are regulary falling bellow freezing. I've grown quite a few crops at this time of year in these conditions and they always produce an harvest.

Post some pics if ya can. Mainly you want to harvest when the plant starts to darken alot

Or atleast when you have some nice big buds of coarse :thumbsup: :rasta:

if you have a hand held microscope at least 30x-60x check out your tric's and if you have a decent amount that are cloudy, i say go for it. my 2cents...

Thats great advice...I'm probably better off in the heat department then you are the worst I have to worry about is 40 to 45 F, and definately no frost just a room with no insulation...just seemed like my babies were goin pretty slow so I figured that the 12 hours of below 80 degree weather wasnt good for them and they're development...Thanks

well I went and cut 2 thinkin on makin it 3 tonight but dont know if I want to if I dont I still have 4 more to cut....I'm lookin at about a QP right now so I imagine it is safe to say I might be lookin at a little over half a pound if not more..I hope....anyway I'm givin atleast 3 of them another week, went and got a pocket microscope and I had a lot of cloudy caps and a couple of ambers here and there so in another week maybe I'll have a whole lot more amber trichomes and that way half the strain will be a heady high and the other half will be a body high ;)

any tips im open for suggestions...Thanks

Did you say that when your big HID light goes off you have fluoros on?

your plants can handle temps into the low 50's...

you harvest when you have equal amounts of clear/cloudy/amber, trichomes...

If you have a low temp prob, then put some plastic or anything to close off area,(cardboard, sheet,etc...).

it gets colder then that at night....but I did get a pocket scope and I pulled and cut what I pulled last night based on the trichomes.....got a week left on the rest and then the weather conditions wont matter cause my flower room will become a veg room...till the next flower time...

Pick a bud from your plant, smoke it, and if your high is what you like then you know its time to harvest, if not buy the microscope and check for trichomes like every other person said.

HI malevolent i noticed you say you've got your light's on in the day an off at night,try it the other way round that way the lights keep the room warm though the cold night's as the day's are warmer.....keep up the good work.....spliffbuilder.

actually I do run lights at night and off during the day, I was just sayin I'm not even in winter yet and it gets super cold at night....light goes off at 8am and so I pull muh babies and put them under the floro's well the room is already in the 30's from the night and the days only heat up to the high 40's low 50's with the room already bein so cold it doesnt warm up hardley...but I will come up with a solution I just dont want to stunt my growth causing problems in size and production later down the road.... ;)

in that case do what i do,get yourself a little oil filled radiator with a thermostat mine cost me £15($33)keeps the growroom nice an toasty see pic's....spliffbuilder.
