It's decriminalized, which means you'll get a fine for posession but no jailtime or criminal record.
yeah there's a difference between legal and decriminalized. Go to www.norml.com and click on your state to get the specifics.
Same here in Canada. 30 grams or less. not legal just decriminalized
a closer step to legalizing eh no?
ohhh yes! And the greatest thing here is that prior to the decriminalization we had a few weeks of free for all legality until the courts made some changes to the law.
(yes the courts , not the gov.) For those few weeks everyone loved smoking it up in public, and many a smoke in at police stations lawns. Ah, it was a wonderful time, free and fearless.
Uh, did any of you actually check the norml site?
Here is what it says:(not decriminalized)Quote:
Possession of marijuana in any amount is punishable by up to one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,000, unless the possession occurred in a public or private park, which increases the penalty to a possible 2 years in prison.
Check out Colorado. An ounce or less is just considered a "petty offense" and a fine of $100and thats it!! Thats even better than michigan. Damn it would be cheaper and safer to get caught with a bag of weed in Colorado than to be caught speeding!!
And look at Alaska... "Less than 4 oz in your residence or home" is "no penalty"!!! You could invite the cops over to your house in Alaska and smoke up and no one would care!!
Oregon is pretty sweet too: Less than 1 oz* misdemeanor none $500 - $1,000
