Vaporizer Review

I just got my Vaporwarez vapor cannon in the mail today.

To those of you who haven't gotten the chance to vaporize, you should. It's a real pleasant tasting "smoke" and nice stone. Different, less lazy kind of high.

This thing works great, easy to set up, easy to use, and doesn't even look like paraphenalia (sp?) of any kind. They even threw in a free grinder.

So here I am, zooted and one happy individual. I know it's probably not as good as the Volcano (never used one) but it's still pretty damn cool.

At the bottom, it explains the THC transfer rate. The vaporizer's transfer rates are less than 1/3 that of a portable water pipe, an unfiltered joint, and a bong. :stoned:

would you say that using a vape is more efficient than, say, smoking bowls?

I have a little 40 buck one I bought a couple of months ago, its like a creeper high I guess in that it takes a bit for you to start feeling it(5-15 mins usually for me). I'm not really a fan of the taste, but it is great for use in dorms, apartments, ect. as it really doesn't smell. I still prefer smoking it, but a vaporizer certainly will get the job done and you use less bud than you normally would. But, the vaporizer more efficient compared to a pipe because you use less and it captures the THC mist in a bulb and you can just inhale at your leisure.

I would say so. I have vaporized 1/2 of what I'd normally load in my bong, and I'm probably higher.

And Beach Guy, did you get those facts from the old California NORML studies? Those are all old and only discuss the vaporizers they had like ten years ago.

vaporwarez is a great vape...my friend has one in his dorm and we smoke from it a lot.

Sort of along those lines.
MAPS, in conjunction with California NORML, has been working for quite a few years to sponsor scientific research into the effects of vaporizers and waterpipes. We have conducted laboratory research testing the content of combusted and vaporized marijuana for cannabinoid and toxin levels but have been stalled since June 2003 waiting for NIDA to review a request to purchase 10 grams of its marijuana to continue our research.

We learned early on that waterpipes don't help filter out undesirable particulate matter, although waterpipes may help reduce certain water-soluble gases. In contrast, vaporizers do eliminate combustion products and address the Institute of Medicine's preference for non-smoking delivery systems for the medicinal use of marijuana. Furthermore, vaporizers are the only non-smoking delivery system that uses the marijuana plant, unlike marijuana extracts in spray, lozenge, drops, or pill form, and could conceivably be used in conjunction with material that patients grow themselves.

While the use of vaporizers in medical marijuana research is the most politically desirable route, since they don't involve smoking, we plan to include groups that smoke as well as vaporize marijuana in future studies. We would be surprised if there are significant differences in safety and efficacy for most patients and feel that this is an issue that needs to be resolved scientifically.

California's Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research (CMCR) approved Dr. Donald Abrams' Phase I vaporizer research protocol and grant application, amounting to slightly more than $137,000. The study will compare subjective effects, cannabinoid blood levels and carbon monoxide levels in exhaled breath in subjects on six different days, three days smoking 400 mgs of marijuana of either 1.7 % THC, 3.5% THC or 7% THC, and three days vaporizing 400 mgs of marijuana of either 1.7 % THC, 3.5% THC or 7% THC. This study will start enrolling subjects in Summer 2004.

On September 21 and 29, 2004, the first and second subjects were enrolled in Dr. Donald Abrams' FDA-approved study comparing subjective effects, cannabinoid blood levels and carbon monoxide levels in subjects who smoke marijuana or inhale the vapors of the same amount of marijuana from a vaporizer.

Just to let you guys know, I broke the whip (for my vape) the other day. I had the freakin' thing for 6 hours and then it broke.

To all prospective buyers : Be VERY careful with your glass whips. This thing broke so easily I did a double take when I saw it. I barely tugged on the whip to pass it to my boy and the glass piece that attaches to the vape snapped. It broke real easily, so be careful.

But, fortunately I called the good people at Vaporwarez.com up on the phone and they apologized that that happened, and they are gonna send me another one at half price.

So, even though these glass whips are VERY fragile, their good customer service still gives vaporwarez.com a thumbs up from me.

Has anyone else had a problem with their whips breaking? Fengzi? Stonedpenguin? GanjaASD?

I saw that study too, back before I bought my first vap. Although the article shows dates as late as 2004 the actual study that showed these statistics was doneon 1996 . I'm sure vaporizers have come a long way since then. My guess is that they were using the original BC Vaporizer style which would make sense. I had one of those first and I found I needed a lot more weed to get high than if I smoked it. Now I've got a Vapor Brothers though and like RIP ODB mentioned, I need about 1/2 of what I would need to smoke to get the same high.

I've had my Vapor Brothers for about 3 months now and with daily use haven't had any problems with breakage. The whip seems pretty sturdy to me, at least as sturdy as glass can be.

It's my understanding that you actually connect the whip on the Vapor Warez to the heating element. Is that correct? With the Vapor Bros it doesn't connect, you just hold it up to the heating element much like you'd hold a pipe to a flame( or flame to the pipe). I can see, however, that if it actually connected you'd have to be more careful passing the whip around. Any sideways pressure would create a lot of leverage at the spot where the whip connects and since it's glass...well..you know.

Yeah, on the hands free version (the one I have) you do connect the whip to the heating element. At the time I bought it I figured this would be better because, you know, you don't have to sit there like a jerk and hold the thing up to the heating element the whole time, you can just sit back and relax.

In retrospect I probably had the whip connected to the heating element for too long, heating up the glass to a point that made it more breakable. The thing that pisses me off is I didn't pull it sideways when I broke it, I pulled away from the unit and it just broke away.

Next time I will be more careful, and I will keep the whip connected to the heating element for shorter periods of time. But man is it easy to just sit there and pack whip after whip and smoke freely, not worrying about odor or smoke bothering anyone else...

But I still think they should make the whips stronger. It says at vaporwarez.com that their top selling item is a spare glass mouthpiece, so I'm guessing that a lot of people have the same problem I did.

They resumed studies in the fall of 2004. And this is still the information they are standing by, to this date.

Stop saying vapourisers arent very good i just spent 100 quid on 1 and it brilliant.

September 10, 2005. At the International Association for Cannabis as Medicine 3rd Conference, held in Leiden, Holland, Mr. Hector Vizoso, study coordinator for Dr. Donald Abrams' study of smoking v. vaporizing, discussed the results of their clinical trial in humans comparing cannabinoid blood levels, carbon monoxide levels, and subjective effects in subjects who smoke and at other times vaporize marijuana (with the Volcano vaporizer). When subjects used vaporizers, the study found reductions in blood carbon monoxide levels as compared to smoking. In addition, the study showed that the vaporizer produced reliable levels of cannabinoids. The study also found that more subjects preferred vaporizing over smoking. This study was funded by a grant of about $136,000 from the Center for Medicinal Cannabis Research (CMCR). MAPS and CaNORML contributed an additional $100,000 on preliminary laboratory data analyzing the content of the vapors produced by the Volcano vaporizer.

Is the difference here between measuring cannabinoids and measuring THC specifically? From experience I agree with the other vapers and use maybe a quarter of what it takes to reach the same level smoking (and that's with a supposedly less efficient glass pipe). Also as others have said, it is a different high. Maybe it's the other cannabinoids that get burned when you smoke and mostly THC that is left as residue when vaping. Dunno if I'm reading the reports correctly.

Well, yes, there can be a difference. THC is an organic property, of weed, and IS a cannabinoid in itself. There are other cannabinoids that have unknown psychoactive effects.

Conclusions: Using the Volcano for pulmonal administration of THC, a delivery is reached that is comparable to smoking, without the presence of degradation products or harmful byproducts in significant amounts. This study confirms that the pulmonary administration of cannabinoids by evaporation certainly has a clinical potential. With the Volcano a safe and effective cannabinoid delivery system seems to be available to patients. Although our current study has concentrated on the delivery of THC it should be noted that other cannabinoids might also have a role to play for some indications.

Thanks... Yeah, that's what I meant. I'm wondering if the high I'm getting with a vape pipe (supposedly not efficient for THC) is from those other cannabinoids (or some combined effect with the THC), while those same other cannabinoids get burned away unused when smoking. That might explain the difference in highs and intensity.

I have concluded that I dont give a flying fuck what scientests prove vapourising gets me more stoned than smoking ever did.

i'm gonna buy a vaporizer sometime in the next 3 months.

I'm gonna go with the Hot Glass vaporizer. It's very portable, It's glass on Glass ( almost like a vaporizing ROOR ), Supposedly gets hits that "taste" the best, Gets nice thick hits according to people who've used it, and gets you faded as fuck!
