I actually don't have a problem with George Best, well, i didn't until he got that liver transplant. That liver could've gone to somebody that would've actually been grateful for it, not someone that saw it as a fresh start with alcohol, meaning now he's had that new liver it means he can drink himself stupid again. I don't have a problem with alcohol, i don't agree with it, and statistically i can't believe how when compared to Cannabis people can just ignore facts and figures that indicate maybe just how unsafe it is, and a massive drain on resources.
I'll give it to old georgey boy, he knew how to get fucked...him and oliver reed.

I too however was disgusted when he returned to drinking, but there for the grace of God go i. I too probably would have done the same at one point, the want for drink is raging.
maybe someone should have passed him a spliff. Who knows?
Theres only one, who makes the choice whever we live or die as far as Im concernded anyway, as a lapsed catholic :)
But again, I do it it goes quick and painlessly for him. I cried when I saw his pics in the news of the world, what a waste, eh?
regards, Rasta
A waste, but a self inflicted one. Apparently he used to play football or something.
Meh, he did it to himself, so maybe he needs to stay alive another week or 2 so he realises what he did was stupid.
And before anyone says i don't have a clue, about 2 years ago me and my mates used to get drunk everyday, i'd have to have a drink everyday, even if it was just a swig of whisky from my dad's spirits.
I stopped drinking.. well i dunno how i stopped, i guess i just got fed up with it, and since i started smokin' bud most days, i just haven't had the urge for a drink, a high is better, and you can get on with anything afterwards :)
I personally have no sympathy for the man. My mother has a transplant and I'll need one too someday so to see what a waste of a perfectly good organ disgusts me.
with all this talk of the supply and demand of organs ...what do you guys think about stem cell technology...the merits and ethics??
Undecided really, I'd much rather everyone just took the little step to become a registered organ donor. I'd also support an opt out system to be used rather than the current one. Some people are just too lazy or don't know about organ donation to sign up, with an opt out system the amount of availible organs would be much larger resulting in better matches, shorter waiting lists and ultimatly less suffering.
he knows full well what he did was stupid hence the reason he asked for pictures of him looking the sickest ive ever seen an alive man to be put on the front page of news of the world to show other people what can happen.Quote:

For all who care, i just heard on the news that doctors say they'd be surprised if George Best survived the night.

holy shit...

I feel that way with cigarettes, if you had a lung transplant (can you? lol) and you carried on smoking afterwards, then you shouldn't be allowed one.Quote:

bah nevermind, i read this as george bush. i dont even know who george best is
Legendary, British Footballer, i don't like football, but that's who he is.Quote:

rip then
He was a genius football player from Northern Ireland and also a really nice
guy, he chatted to my overwhelmed 8yr old son for 20minutes in Birmingham
airport (1995). I'm sad that he didn't manage to overcome his addiction after
the transplant. But I don't think it should've been denied him. He's human, a
man with failings but his family are having to watch him die and that's tragic
enough without people saying he wasn't deserving of a second chance.
He fucked up, he's paying for it. The photos he requested to be published
show his remorse and acceptance of what he did wrong.
Rest easy Georgie Baby.....we still love ya
Anyone got a picture of him when he was really ill, that was on the front of the papers? I never saw it! :(
Think this is most recent.
LOL cheers.. shouldn't joke about it... but LOLQuote:

Very nicely put Lulu, nice to see compassion.Quote:

RASta
I am not a smoker I have a vapouriser and I dont drink not fat eat healthily so if I get cancer I am gonna be pissed.
Im sorry rasta but why should a person that has led an unhealthy life be given a transplant. George Best was an alcoholic and I think that the liver should have been given to someone more deserving.
Yeah, if i smoked 20 cigs a day (i don't smoke any, thankfully) and got cancer, i'd like new lungs, but i'd see the side that i brought it on myself, so i'm not as deserving as a non-smoker :)
Didnt you say u were off?
Yeah i was, to watch I'm A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here, but it's over, so 3 sheets is back in action :)Quote:
