hmmm hard to argue with but i gotta say the best show to watch high is beavis and butthead.
but thats not readily available. where I live cops is on like for 3 hrs in a row at night. I mean there are other funny shows, but they are only on for 30mins a day if that u know.
yea im tryin to get the whole collection of beavis and butthead on dvd.
yeah I did hear that collection was comming out
you know thats a must own.
I have watched cops since it's begining i only put it on when there is nothing on and i feel bad. Because, if there is one thing about cops is that you can turn it on and Instantly feel better because, HAY at least i'm not on cops w/my toothless wife in a wife beater talking about huffen paint. no offence to any toothless paint huffers.
I hate Cops because I end up yelling at the TV. Abusive power hungry voyeuristic bitches.
Yeah I said it. Big whoop. Wanna fight about it?
you know whats funny about cops?, how they always try to end the segment with some moral advice like they actually give a shit. cracks me up everytime.
I love programmes like that.. all police, camera shows :D
Love them all, few weeks ago i'd record hours of them at night to watch on my day off the next day :p
But i got too lazy, gettin' high, eatin' and watching tv all day! :p
Cops is a really hilarious show. My friends always feel bad for the cracked out criminals but don't they have to sign a release form to have their face shown on the show? I dunno, could be wrong, but anyone that stupid deserves my ridicule.
Right network, wrong show. As great as Cops is (and it is), Strangers With Candy can be almost unbearably laughter cramp inducing while high.
I rented two movies one night before getting stoned out of my mind.
A Marilyn Monroe flick...and an old black and white silent movie with Buster Keaton and what might have been Keystone Cops.
I sat alone in the dark and watched them. Buster Keaton made me laugh so hard I almost ruptured myself.
...and then Marilyn...oh Marilyn...like a candle in the wind. She blew me a kiss and I fell in love.
TV is so stupid these days. It's all dumbed down for the lowest common denominator. And you can't sit down and watch something for more than ten minutes without being urged to buy all sorts of shit you don't need. I had to watch about 20 minutes of MTV last week and I was thoroughly disgusted by what our culture has degenerated into. There's Carson Daly whoring out music videos for the record companies, and hundreds of screaming teens who are being taught that nothing really matters except the lives of celebrities. Just a few decades ago kids were screaming about the Vietnam War, about civil rights and about peace and love. Now they scream whenever the latest crappy pop musician comes out with another crappy album full of songs that don't mean anything. Whatever happened to ideals, to things that tried to send a message?
Cops isn't much better. Just a bunch of violent criminals who think they're better than all the other violent criminals because they have uniforms and badges and superior firepower. What is this teaching people? Shut up and obey the rules of the dominant gang or get your ass kicked, that's what.
Excuse me, I'm going to go read a book by somebody who has something intelligent to say.
oh... go love yourself.
WTF..tv sucks, of course it does when youre watching TRL. Is that all you watch dude?? I have digital cable with over 200 channels, and im always watching the history channel, discovery channel, National geographic channel, etc.Quote:

yea cops is aight, but i like that 70's show
I voted "nah" because Cops is kinda getting boring because there's nothing anything really new, material-wise. It's like "same ole, same ole" to me.
reno 911
best shit to watch when you're stoned
hah!...
Reno 911 was the show I thought of when I saw "Cops."
...pretty soon the Daily Show will be my only source of news and then my whole sense of reality (and reality based entertainment) will finally, finally be defeated. amen.
I've watched Cops about as often as I've watched Survivor, or it's hilarious spoof rip-off Fear Factor (isn't that on Comedy Central?)
Thanks for always typing what I'm much too lazy to. It's only 'teaching' those who're uncomfortable enough with themselves to be influenced by it, though. I'm long past that.Quote:

It's hard to find a young person with a topic other than 'who said this', 'he said that', 'she is driving this', or 'he is hotter than him', so you do have a valid point. I make it a point not to let television or music influence my character.
This is off topic. Oneironaut, I find you to be one of the most intelligent people on the boards, and I agree with you in that government is infinitely flaw prone. I used to consider myself an anarchist years ago, but frankly, I think the human race is doomed in whatever we do. That's why I don't get myself all worked up at how ridiculous everything is anymore. Even the most intelligent people are hopelessly inconsistent. Have you noticed? This is as good as it will ever get.
Hey, I didn't choose to watch TRL. It was on in a public place where I happened to be at the moment. And the people around me were very interested. Even those channels which are supposed to be educational have to be dumbed down to a large degree so the average Joe can follow along, and they can't present any ideas that might offend a significant number of people. And the commercials get very annoying very quickly. It's as if I'm reading a book and every ten minutes somebody takes it away from me and starts talking about how great their laundry detergent is. Fuck that.Quote:

Now that you mention it, my interest in these shows is certainly waning. I've been having a lot more fun since I turned off the tube and started living life. I've been learning to control my dreams, teaching myself several languages, stargazing, developing my personal philosophy, and even getting into Mongolian throat singing, among other things, all of which are infinitely more fulfilling than watching some television show.Quote:

McCauley Caulkin suggests watch these hollywood classics instead of weak and boring tv shows:
home alone
home alone 2: lost in New York
the good son
richie rich
uncle buck
(basically anything starring McCauley Caulkin)
I'm glad you agree with me. I too don't let modern music or television influence me. I observe it rather like an alien would, examining what it is and what it means about our culture. And frankly, it scares the shit out of me when I compare it to the popular culture of the past. Nothing means anything to anyone anymore, like nothing had meaning to me during my youth when I wasted so many precious years in front of the tube mindlessly absorbing whatever was on. I was lucky enough to break myself out of that vicious cycle and am afraid I might slip into it again if I observe too much too often.Quote:

Time and time again history has shown us that the human spirit when put to work can achieve freedom and spontaneity the likes of which had never been seen before. There was the Renaissance, the French Revolution, the Russian Revolution, the Commune of Paris, the Italian factory occupations after World War I, the Spanish Civil War, the events of May '68 in France, the civil rights movement...something like that can happen again if humanity can escape this mental cage it's been put in. This is all rather off-topic though, so I'll leave it at that.Quote:

im following mcauly's posts
Haha. I noticed you didn't mention the American Revolution. Look where it got us, right?Quote:

We would be unable to create any form of correspondence to people across the globe, because the lack of rules and regulations would prevent us from being capable of building a team coordinated enough to build something that sophisticated. In fact, any form of group bearing a set of rules would be contradictory to the essence of anarchism. Plus, the entire world would need to be anarchists, or the region who is would simply be overrun and taken over.
If anarchism is impossible, how have anarchist societies thrived in the past for years? How was the anarchist Makhnovshchino able to successfully defend itself against several foreign armies before their communist allies betrayed and destroyed them? They clearly weren't defenseless. How was it that thousands of anarchist collectives and voluntary popular militias were able to defend themselves against Franco's fascist army in the Spanish Civil War for several years? People used to say the republic was impossible, that without the absolute rule of a monarch society would collapse into chaotic disorder. That didn't happen when republics were established. Same goes for anarchy. People say that with that kind of increased freedom, people would be allowed to murder and rape and pillage all they want, but this has not borne out in the anarchist societies of the past. You'd be hard pressed to find stories of mass murderers gone unpunished in the Spanish anarchist collectives, or in the anarchist communities of the Ukraine during the Russian Revolution. In fact, it has been one of the primary goals of anarchist societies to prevent people from asserting their domination over others, be it by rape, murder or government. Just because people weren't being bossed around didn't mean they were vulnerable to anybody who decided to assert their authority through violence. If anarchist societies were possible in the past, why is there any reason to assume they're impossible now? Government is certainly not inevitable, and power not a basic instinct. Government has been around for only about 1% of human history. Before that people generally lived as equals, without bosses and politicians, and were quite happy that way. But this is really a discussion for the Politics board, so I'll shut up now.
i like to sit and watch food network all day when im stoned
i'll stick with family guy
family guy is my fav show, but cops is more entertaining to me.
If a man was punished, wouldn't it be because he was breaking a rule? That's not true freedom is it? In order to form an army, you'd need some form of law to keep the soldiers together. And what has become of those anarchist societies? Are they around today?
12OZ FUCKING MOUSE.
this is so true. the masses are brainwashed and i feel there is no hope for them, its getting worser by the day. i myself am a simple man, give me a place to stay and a meal and im good, i dont need all this other shit. a lot of crazy shit going on in the world today and the majority of the population is concerned with who celebs are dating. go figure.Quote:

they use subliminal messages on tv.
"dr wilson bryan key revealed the existence of the tachistoscope, a fiml projector with a high speed shutter which flashes messages every 5 seconds for 1/300th of a second. the messages could not be seen by the naked eye, but were absorbed by the subconscious. the message would then filter down from the subconscious to the conscious level as thought, desire, or opinion, which the person believes is their own. years ago, a flash-frame picture of a coca-cola bottle used to be inserted into a cinema film just before the interval. the audience couldnt see it, but their subconscious could. sales of coca-cola during cinema intervals went up significantly."
