You need a simple yes or no, cause If the world does end, the likely hood of it happening in our lifetime is miniscual. Atleast from natural causes.

ps. this was my 2028th post. The end of the world according to mayans. i guess this is how we're goin out folks ;)
[align=center]FUCK.
LOOK AT THIS PREDICTION.
2028-OCT: Asteroid "1997 XF11" will approach close to earth. At first, scientists were concerned that there was a small probability that it might impact earth. However, data from 1990 has indicated that it will miss earth by about 600,000 miles. 6 Still, this is a near miss, as astronomical distances go.

peace!
I was serious you fool!!!!
The world has survived for billions of years. It's been battered by asteroids before, it's experienced countless earthquakes, volcanoes, tsunamis, ice ages, all kinds of shit. At several times in the planet's history the majority of life has simply died off. For instance, at the end of the Permian era 90% of marine species and 70% of terrestrial species simply went extinct. At one point, an object the size of Mars collided with Earth and sent lots of material spewing into orbit around the planet (later coalescing into the Moon). And the world is still here. If anything is going to come and obliterate the planet entirely, it would have to be really freaking huge. And judging by the fact that nothing has done that in the past 4 billion years, it seems extremely unlikely that anything of that magnitude will happen in the few decades we have on this planet.
There is the slight possibility that some kind of mass extinction event could occur again, wiping out the human species. But again, no such mass extinction event has occurred since the dinosaurs died off 65 million years ago, so the likelihood of this happening within our lifetimes is again very minuscule. And even then, many mammal species were able to survive. If our primitive mammalian ancestors could find a way out of that, our species, with all its complex reasoning abilities and technological advances, would have a pretty good chance of surviving a disaster of that magnitude.
Our species is going to go extinct. This is undeniable, as all things in this universe are temporary. Nothing lasts forever. But I don't think we really have anything to worry about in our lifetimes, and the Earth as a planet probably won't end for at least the next 3 billion years, when the Andromeda Galaxy will collide with the Milky Way.
which probably isn't too much of an issue either... galaxies being, like solar systems or atoms themselves, mostly empty space. But it should cause some interesting effects...
It would be so cool if life was continuing on earth in 3 billion years to just go outside with a bowl and some snacks, sit back in a lawn chair, look up at the sky and watch the galaxies collide... I'd be so down for watching the end of the world.
According to simulations, it will be a huge issue. The supermassive black holes at the center of each galaxy will collide into a single super-supermassive black hole, and the solar system will probably either be sucked into the black hole with millions of other stars, or else it will be flung out of the galaxy. It all depends on what side of the galaxy we happen to be on when the collision occurs.Quote:

you don't relax a lot do you oneironaut? Do you ever find yourself waking up with a sore jaw? do you have a lot of tension in your back and shoulders during the course of the day?
Yes, I do grind my teeth in my sleep. It's rather sad really. It's worn down a lot of my teeth, and my dentist says it's pretty serious. :( But it's not because I don't relax. I don't know where you get that idea from. I spend a lot of my time sitting on my ass smoking weed and listening to music. Probably more than I should.
haha im not scared i figure we are all gonna die sometime might as well be in a cool way and whats kooler then death cuz the whole fuckin world blew up?
well, i dont care eather way as long as theres a never ending blunt were ever i go. do u know how much resin would build up on the ends of the thing, and on your lips??
but with GWB in the White House, i doubt we have a very long time to live.
has anyone here ever heard of this so called "cosmic cloud"? some kid in my history class brought in an article for current events talking about this black hole that is coming towards earth. supposedly it will be here in 9 years, and it will just dissolve everything in its path. they even have pictures of it destroying monsterous asteroids supposedly.
I think the coolest way for the Earth to blow up, would be, not catastrophically, to hurl us through space, carrying our atmosphere with us. At least we'd get a beautiful joyride to end our life.
WE might all become extinct at one point just as the once rulers, the dinosaurs, became extinct. But the Earth won't be destroyed... more life will continue eventually. This is evolution.
Timewave Zero: December 21, 2012
Terrence McKenna, one fucked up dude, but this is when he predicted the universe was going to end. I think it is the Myan end date. Those Myans predicted the world would end in 2012 thousands of years ago. That is a little scary
No matter what happens to Earth, Cannabis will survive. It survived the Ice Age.
way i see it....why fear what you can't control? if it happens it happens no ammount of worrying or thinking about it would stop it....so i'll live my life like i do everyday even if i knew there was a comet heading for eartht hat would completely destroy it....might want to get extremely fucked up and do alot of things i never did before it got here....but i wouldn't be afraid...especially if it were something like that...i doubt you'd even know what hit you before you were dead....and the only part of death i fear is extreme pain, i.e. being stabbed to death, burned to death, falling down a mountain shit like that.
I look at the end of the world as just another excuse to get fucking worthless stoned boozed
