what should the ph of the resevoir be in an aeroponic system. it seems to me that since the roots arent encased in rockwool but rather are suspended and misted that 5.8 is a bit low. i currently keep it at 6.0 since im unsure. any help would be sweet....thx friends
Dude your shit looks great. If you can keep it between 5.8 and 6.0 your in there don't change what your doing. Hydro PH is on the low side soil is up about 7.5 . Rockwool sucks don't need it don't use it, causes rot but some like it and have good luck with it. There's a nute chart in the faq's that shows what nutes are picked up at what PH level.

I run my hydro 5.4-5.9 and my soil at 6.5-7.0...No higher than 7.0...that is the high side...above 7.0 and the ph level won't allow uptake of key nutes n-p-k...but also as LOCNAR stated...if they look good, leave them alone...It is good that you ask and don't take info for granted. I sometimes raise/lower ph in order to have plant uptake a particular nutrient; as slight changes in ph create optimum conditions for each nutrient...latewood

If you are worried about Ph then check out the chart of Ph availability in the FAQ.
Ph should very with the cycle from 5.2 up to 6.2 depending on how the plant responds.

Ph for Aeroponics or any hydroponics is 5.2 - 5.5 but in truth you can go up to 5.8 - 6.2 and still be ok later in the cycle. (Like after the first 30 day's)
It will creap up but you should bring it back down every day sometime twice a day. to normal range. 7.0 is more for dirt farming and not Hysroponics

(since this thread is still alive)...i have noticed that whenever i refill my rez, the ph will go down from 6.0- to 5.5 then after a few days will creep back up and will require adjustment (ph down). this seems to be a pretty regular affair. i assume this has to do with nutrient uptake....am i wrong? just curious.....

Maybe your ph meter is off, or your plants like 7.o... or Your nutrients have some unknown factor...

Zandor, I am new to the site and have a couple questions you may be able to answer. I have 12 plants in a Deep Water Culture system. They have been in the system for two weeks now and are looking good. I am curious why the pH climbs daily. The first week it appeared that they wanted the water more than the nutes as the PPM was very steady. This week the PPM is dropping gradualy which I assume means they are feeding. well thx man... i assumed it had to do w/ the plants absorbing the nutes from the water thus creating a more alkaline medium.
ANYWAYS......how bout this one. i want to cut my plants off from nitrogen to get rid of the "green" taste.

Light movers are fine and I know of many people who use 10' rails. I prefer the 6' rails when I have grows that can use them. Do the math for the foot print of your light. 1000w HPS lights have a foot print about 4' or so it's just the ends that don't have full time light but that's ok you still get good coverage. Just watch the temperature at the top of the canopy and you will be fine.Quote:
