Any loss of life is tragic but don't you find it a lil' bit amazing that the loss of U.S. life in a two year time frame, in a war zone, is far less that that of 9-11? Doesn't say much about the insurgency and is definately a far cry from Nam!

Deaths per capita in Nam wee 1 soldier for every 40 or 50...the dead per capita in iraq are 1 for every 70

Yes, Casey volunteered to defend his country. When Bush sent him to fight for his own personal agenda, things changed. He was no longer fighting for what he volunteered for. I have no idea where his figures come from, but they agree with the general trend of this type of war, the great power wins every single battle, and loses the war. Can you name me a battle the US lost in Vietnam? The russians in afganistan? Come on, surely we didn't win every single battle and lose the war? Is that possible? 3 million vietnames died in the war, 50,000 americans. The russians did even better, 1.5 million afghans dead, 15,000 russians.
