Harvesting

I have grown over the past 3 or 4 months thanks to you guys. I really have not had time to check out harvesting time but some of my hairs on my plant are turning orange on top, even though most of them are still white and the crystals still look white/clear? What do I do? They seem kind of small...should I just wait? Plant sure does smell good :) I'll attach pictures. Oh yeah, there is a male in there to humor you. I didn't care about him and put him in another room cuz..after all he is a male plant...so 1/2 were male =p

You will want to harvest when the plant is at it's peak maturity. Usually when about 90% of the pistils are orange, but before they start to wither a little. The calyxes should be nice and swollen! Do you have a hand microscope to check the tricomes? What lighting setup do you have for your flowering??? :)

I was gonna keep the flouro on, is this a good idea? Other than that..all I have is a 75watt house light with a heat shield and or two halogen spotlights. I heard red/orange we best so I thought halogen wouldn't be too bad? I dont have a microscope..only a fairly large magnifying glass...I have really good vision and the trichrome things are like poking off the white hairs. They're still white/clear.

Yes keep that flouro on! Your lighting setup is why the buds are so small. Standard bulbs are very inefficient. So are the halogens. They are bright, but the lumen output is very weak with them. A cheap way to fix it quickly and improve your crop would be to run out and pick up a few full-spectrum compact flourecent bulbs, Get them close, so those buds can soak up the light and get nice and juicy!!! With a microscope you can see the tricomes up close and can see when most of the tips of them have swollen up. They will almost look like little mushrooms everywhere. :)

I can get a massive high pressure sodium...but jesus, i turned it on and it looked like it could light a whole baseball field. I'll see what I can do. Just not sure if it'll be possible for me to do anything like buy new bulbs =/

Yeah they are bright, but then again you are trying to replicate a natural growing atmosphere indoors. The sun is mighty bright. The plants love it and need it. Small amounts of light, actually starve the plant, because you are limiting the amount of fiber growth it can produce from photosynthesis

I found a 500watt t3 quartz light. Is this okay?

I really don't know what type of light that is. But honestly, with the setup you have now, any light will help. That HPS would be awesome, but I don't know if you want your grow area lit up that much. Just add light and it will definately help out :)

What you've got there is a halogen,wrong spectrum,and its a very hot light output,not good for growing,sorry....bonbon

if your using the hps make sure you block the window so no light gets out for snitching people too see. or cops.
i cut a piece of plywood to the same size as my window 5' by 3'. closed the curtains and shove the wood into the window frame and then hang a duvet over it all. you cant see any light from my window.....you cant be too careful man.

i have a question since i have been reading what you guys have been saying . i belive i am using a halogen light , i was wondering if that would be ok to start of seedlings? i am going to transplant them outside when they get big enough to be on there own
