Space rocks. I studied a bit of astrophysics when I was about 19, man that shit is hard!
interesting but i didnt read it
well atleast they found out the truth. it makes me wonder what else a black hole can create...Quote:

i like it when the science guys say stuff like supermassive, or become verbally threatening to world markets with their depressing wisdom :D
I wonder if Sagittarius A* is the only black hole in the universe that does this?
Or maybe, I missed something.
i'm almost certain that all black holes have the gaseous disk around them, if that's true, it's quite possible that every black hole in the universe also assists in the formation of it.
You're, probably, right. If it was the only one to "disperse" stars, I'm sure it would change a lot of atheists' opinions.
reading that bit of information you provided confirmed my belief that it's possible to see the stars moving around in space with the naked eye.
It's crazy. I'm a stargazer, myself. In fact, I can stare into the sun, endlessly.
edit:  I'm blind
Although, you might actually be seeing a satellite.
the sun is actually the only star that doesn't orbit in space, and staring at it for too long makes everything go white for a very long time. whenever i'm riding around in the car and the sun is facing the windshield, everyone in the car (frontseats) puts down the visors. i enjoy the sun hitting me in the face, it doesn't bother me. stargazing is fun. every night, i go out to smoke a cigarette and point out consellations that i can see - space is amazing.
it's funny. most people think that space would be boring, due to the fact that it is mostly an endless 'ocean' of stars, but the exploration of the universe has and will continue to be a life-long dream of mine.
edit: all of them move...very, very, very slowly.
We should make a pot powered spaceship and go check it out! I'll be pilot of course and beachguy and his thongs can navigate!! Whoo who, we are going on a space trip!!
Who's in charge of bringing the munchies?
...i suppose that would be me.
I don't know too many constellations. I just like looking up at the planets and putting them in perspective with the Sun snd the Moon. I saw the annual meteor shower in August, on the beach, when I was 16. That was awesome. In 6th grade, in Upstate N.Y., during the same meteor shower, I counted 256. I'll, always, remember that number. I do know Orion, however. And the difference between the Dippers. When I moved to Virginia from New York, I had to convince a new friend that the Moon revolves around the Earth while rotating around the Sun. He bet me $50, and by the time I proved it, the story changed. He, also, tried to tell me that the North Star was the brightest object in the sky.
that sucks, you should have gotten your fifty dollars. my next paycheck, i think i'm going to invest in a decent telescope, to further heighten my vision into space.
My neighbor has one that he bought for his daugher, then she never used it. He told me I could use it one night. I haven't remembered to. I'm so lazy.

Besides the sun what is the brightest star in our system?
it's the pistol star. it glows with 10 million times the energy of the sun. amazing, uh? payment isn't necessary, giving me marijuana would be the equivalent of bringing it for yourself.

Venus is the brightest object, besides the moon.
I love to gaze at the stars but sometimes all the smog from the city makes it awfully hard to do. Hopefully I get the house in the country I am praying to get and then I can sit out in my yard at night with my bong and my telescope and be a very happy lady!
i hear ya, amydan. i live in houston, one of the smoggiest cities in america. i don't mind seclusion, one bit. one of these days, i'm going to move to northern california and purchase me a oceanside house. it will be mine one day...oh yes...it will be mine one day.
lol. Yeah, when you go in depth into any hard science you find out its all math. (shudder)Quote:

And thanks for posting the article about black holes ill read it later when i haven't just woken up.
That's good. I thought you meant the brightest in the sky. The World has changed since I discovered that Black Hole near the center of our galaxy. Well, my world.
Maybe this "new" star is our next sun? We've only got 5 Billion Years left on the Warranty of our current Sun.
I don't see why some people find the stars boring, one of my favourite things to do is to go and find somewhere with as little light polution as possible and just stare up at the stars with a j or two and think.
me too!!Quote:

I also really enjoy reading about space and eveything in it....i have made some threads previously about space...it truly is one of the most amazing things.
:)
It's amazing when you get a clear night, and you can see the entire Milky Way galaxy (well, one side of it).
If you turn the milky way bar the other way up you can see that side aswell. O you meant a different milky way.
