if you have the operating system disk, you can put that disk on your computer, then turn off your mac.. when you turn it back on hold down the C key... your compter will bot up from this disk..
do you have the operating system disk.. OS X.3 or x.2 or x.4 ?
-
Mac People
if not, you need to open a program called disk utility and run repair and verify disk options..
I hope this helps you...
-
Mac People
there is a program you can buy called disk warrior.. FUCKING amazing!!!!!!!!!!
love is YOU..

If there is nothing on the computer you need.. and you have the operating system hardware, you can easily "ZERO OUT" your computer and it will run like it is brand new... unless of course the problem is with your RAM.. yikes...

i dont have the operating system disk, and idk how to get to disk utility

how do u zero out a computer?
-
Mac People
ahahha... ok
it is your best shot...
if you zero the computer you will need the operating system disks to relaod into the computer..
you also need to have the operating system disk... because the computer cannot erase it self/zero itself out... unless it is BOOTED from a DISK
"disk utility" is the program that zeros out your computer... it is on the OS 10.. disks..
or you can get disk warrior and reboot from disk warrior... less than 100 dollars
but why won't you just do the pwer button thing..? you have nothing to looose..

-
Mac People
Dude if the power button doesn't work you won't be able to install anything. I am good with macs. Let me know what system you are using.
-
Mac People
Yeah man, it would help to have some information as to exactly what kind of mac you have (iBook, PowerBook, etc.) and what system software you're using. Can you find the "disk utility" in your utilities folder (in the applications folder)? If so, try running it and fixing permissions... If you don't have any kind of bootable system disk, then you're gonna have a hard time zeroing out & reinstalling anything. You might be able to buy one on ebay.

I must admit I don't use a mac (since I have no money to buy one, and linux works fine for me), but don't bash macs they are very good computers and OSX is a great operating system. What exaclty did you do to mess it up in the first place? sorry I can't seem to help you out more. But if you go to http://www.scopetech.net and post your problem in the Macs forum your sure to get a resoponse and maybe some help.
