Well yeah, the title pretty much says it all. What's a decent place to work? I'm 20 years old and homeless. Hooray. Oh, and I'm in New York, not the city though. I've got some $$ in my bank account, but it won't last forever... so, advice?

Are you looking for a job or career, or just something to get you jump started?
Are you homeless with a cell-laptop?
yep, I'm the high tech homeless guy lol. I have a laptop and let's just say I'm very good with network security, but I'd much rather find something legal to do. I'm not really sure what I'm looking for, that's part of the problem I guess. I've been just hanging out since I was kicked out may 1st. I would like a career or something, the money's not my driving force, I just want something that I can enjoy. Though I guess I would need a jumpstart :D Alas, I have no cell phone :(
start colege dude , u got no income so ul qualify for pell grants like me , and that will pay ur tuition books and give u some spendin money , for real dude go to skool
where i live in illinois it pays my tuition and for my books , and then $200 a month of spendin money to live on
That's pretty nice deal, actually. Yeah, I suppose that could work. Except it's summer right now, lol. I went the community college route for a few semesters, boy did I fuck that up royally. I think I had a point something gpa. Jesus, what's a pell grant? Should I just google that, or is it called something else? I suppose I am pretty smart, and if I apply myself, that could work. I wound up with a 1250 on the sat's, so I dunno. Just thinking, what the hell would I put for my address lol. The blue oldsmobile in your parking lot :D It's an idea, but I can't act on it now.
u could always sell your body !!!!!
" will u have my baBY .. ? maybe , will u help me kill my old lady
Or you could join the military, some easy branch like the Air Force, use and learn more tech related stuff if you are into it. They'll take care of you and you'll get some career training, education funds, and VA benifits when you get out.
:D You paying? I'm not cheap.
1 problem with the military , NO WEED FOR YOU !!!!!!! so if u join the military u gotta drop the weed so u choose , personly fuck going to war for a country (iraq) that tries to destrouy ours (USA) every chance it gets
I was actually thinking about the military. I just don't think I'd survive it though. And don't you have to enlist for four years? The drug tests arent that appealling either, but I guess I could stop.
FUCK THE OVERMENT AND FUCK ITS MILITARY
Yeah that's why I mentioned the air force. Or you could go Coast Guard. Actually the military isn't that hard if you have the right job in it. Yeah the drug tests suck, but if you want a real jumpstart I can't really think of anything better. I've seen people come from all walks of life and in 4 years of service they improove their lives a lot and get them on track. Yeah it is just 4 years. JesusSmokedPot, stop being so ignorant, do you think they send the entire US military to war? I am actually thinking of reasonable situations for GS and not just ranting my head off. Iraq has never tried to destroy the US. There are plenty of non-combatant jobs in the military Gs8778. But if you are truely serious about drug use, it probably isn't the best choice.Quote:

Yes, and imagine how good it will feel to get high the day you are discahrged. Well actually I was high, my last day in. They made me stand duty on the barracks. I felt weird as crap in my uniform and stoned. :)Quote:

Allright, So I guess the military is a viable thought. I'd really have to think about it though. Four years of my life gone, 'cept I'm not really doing much with it right now anyways. Another problem, potentially, is that I suffer from depression. Bad. Ssri's havent really done shit for me, and right now I self medicate with the good herb. I really don't want to wind up in a downward spiral with no way out, you know? I've heard some good things about wellbutrin though, and they give you free meds in the service, right? It's just a really big decision, but I may go that route if I can't come up with anything else.
Gs, I'm sure there's alot of ppl in the military that suffer from depression. Yeah, Welbutrin is supposed to be good. What else are you good at? The problem is that without a degree some jobs will be out of reach (which I know you know). What courses did you take in college? Your SAT scores rock, man, I didn't even get 4 digits! Would you consider going back to school? Or is a job your main concern? Could I possibly ask any more questions? LOL
You might be against this idea at first but you should look into it. I was super against telemarketing till about a month ago when i got a job selling vacations cause it was the only one I could find and I was desperate. Now though i wouldnt go back. I make $8 an hour straight up and with no effort last week I made $180 in bonuses. If you are good at bullshit mode then it is the best. And besides, my boss tells us at our place at least to get high before we come to work. So I get $8/hr, great bonuses, and get to get high all the time. Could there be anything better.
Okay genius, when did Iraq try to destroy the US? What chances did it get to destroy us? Go ahead and enlighten us all??? :rolleyes:Quote:

The one that offered the most range of different courses. I was actually quite good in bio, psych, abn psych, philos, sociology, and english lit. I read quite a lot, yes I know I'm a dork. What gets me is math. I just hate it. I can do it, but I'd rather do anything to avoid it :D But yeh, right now a job is my main concern since I need money and could use a place to live.Quote:

oh, and p.s. the military is not as great as it sounds. you are paid next to nothing for the possibility of giving your life. the bennies aren't much. and that vet. bennefits bull shit, well, my father never saw a cent (he sreved in vietnam), i dated a man who broke both his legs and lost many of his friends in a helicopter crash, i think the gov. paid for 1/3 his med bills. and all the "we'll pay your college tutition" talk. he graduated 2 years ago and has yet to see a cent. oh, and depression gets you kept out of and kicked out of the military.
Yeah you aren't paid much, but it is pretty much all spending money. Housing, food, medical. Everything is taken care of for you. What veterans benifits BS are you taliking about. Maybe your father got screwed by the government, but that was over 3 decades ago. Things are a lot different now. I have seen everything they have promissed me, education money, and I am getting a VA loan. My friend has gotten out with a dissability and is getting full medical and payments every month for the rest of his life. And guess what, I do know quiet a few people who have worked for UPS, and all of them say it is shitty backbreaking work for crap pay. Don't let your emotions and anti-government feelings blur out the fact that the government, although shitty at times has definately changed and now, it is seriously looking after it's veterans. If it wasn't they would not be able to recruit. Truth is that recruitment in the armed forces is still strong, except in the Army, but that is why you see so many Army commercials. The government is a very good option.Quote:
