Anyone?
Hello Jetazz :) I'm probably one of the worst people to reply to you're post because I'm always guilty of harvesting prehaps a little too soon ;)
I have read all the post about Trichs or whatever they are turning cloudy or amber but to be honest I don't know anything about that :o
I just go by the general look of the plant, when the pitsels are mostly brown and when some of the leaves start dying off.
Now would I harvest you're plant........................I think I probably would be thinking about it very soon, it has many brown pitsels, some of the leaves are browning and it looks nice and resinous.
This is only my opinon J, so don't take it that it is definietely ready ;)
love mand xxx :)
with all due respect for Mands opinion and pretty new myself I can just tell you a good rule of thumb, " if you think its ready to harvest wait two more weeks".
Looking at the trichomes is the most accurate but it too takes a lil practice IMO.
good luck

Thanks for the help mand and Bill. The trichromes on the leaves appear to be clear but the pistels are 80% brown. Another thing I think that the plant might have turned hermie on me. About an hour ago I was doing my usual inspesction and I found what look like balls. It is in the same closet as another female that is no where near being done yet but I really dont mind if I end up with some seeds. What confuses me is that apparentally sativa's take longer to flower which this plant appears to be and also I'm using fluorescent lights which is supposed to add even more time to flowering. The plant also hasn't really got any taller in the past 7 days.
I ordered a 400w hps that should be here by tuesday at the latest that I'll use to finish my other plant.
I guess I'll leave the plant for now. So when the trichromes are cloudy it is time for harvest?
Below is a pic that is hopefully clear enough to tell if those are pollen sacs.

Hello Jetazz :) Tell you what love this is getting really intresting.
What I can see from the pic is that it looks like there may be a couple of seeds there, again don't hold me to that it'a diffficult to tell from a pic, if I saw the plant in the flesh then I would know for sure ;)
I can't see anything from the pic that ressembles a male flower, but that is just from the pic.
Right J, I can only say what I would do now, I am not saying it is what you should do, I'm not that knowledgable on the technical side, I just grow for the end result .................smokeable weed :)
Ok what I would do, harvest that plant now and finish the other with the HPS ;)
See what others suggest though J, that is only my opinion and what I would do.

Oh by the way J if that one is a hermmie ????.........then it will pollunate the other plant as well ;)
O.K, I thought those were male flowers. I've found out exactly what a male flower looks like so tomorrow I'll look over both plants (lights are off for the day) and let you know what I find.
I guess we'll just wait and see what others have to say about whether to harvest it.
thanks mand

Hello Jetazz :) Well if you're talking about what I can see on the pic I'm pretty sure that they are seeds forming in their pod.
Heres a pic of a male and female flower I found on another thread ;)
love mand xxx :)
yep I've got seeds but no male flowers anywhere on the plants, maybe a neighbour of mine is growing and his pollen came in my window?
that plant is beautiful!! and yes it was pollinated, harvest that sucker when your pistils are 80-85% brown. If you still have some clear pistils that's ok. cut it anyway!!
thanks for the comment growinitgood, I'll probably harvest it within the week
here this might help a bit
I really like that pic that metalhead posted because it shows you the color of the tricholmes and the color of the pistills. Ide use that pic and a 50x magnifying glass
thanks for the photo metalhead based on that I'm probably still 5-7 days away, the hairs at the very top of main cola are orange but the rest arent completely ready yet and none of the trichromes are cloudy.
Also I have taken a very small sample from the lowest branch, the smoke is sweet tasting and packs a real, real good punch. The sample I cut off weighed less than .1 grams dried and it still got me fucked up  It is definately a true sativa, total cerebral high.
Attached is an updated pic of what it looks like now (for some reason I couldn't get a clear picture of the whole plant)
The plant has kind of seemed sick since day one, (appeared to have mg deffiency off the bat but epsom salts did nothing to help) I put it into flower quite early (5 in tall) and now has topped out at 13in. It kind of looks like a lowryder but it's not. in the past week she has put on more girth and white hairs are still popping out all over the place. As you can see there are no fan leaves at all left, is this bad?
based on the height being 13 in the pic can anyone guess what the yield be? I gently squeezed the cola and it felt very dense
I think I'd be lucky to get 15g
Cheers
Hi jettazz,
What strain are you growing?
unknown superstrain from highgradeseeds.comQuote:

PERIOD.
You can see from this picture that the pistil has died and the color has changed. The trichomes are still not cloudy yet and there is no amber color showing in any of them. This is not ready to harvest yet and still needs more time. You harvest on the average of the trichomes in your view window. You check many places all over the plant and when you see about 10-20% amber the rest should be cloudy then it's time to harvest.
Wow that plant is a beauty  I am quite interested in what fluorex is ? is it just fluorescent and how many watts did you use? nice grow
thanks zandor, I guess I've still got more time to go then, I have a 30x microscope and I didn't see any cloudy trichromes at all.
For Fugitive:Thanks for the compliment; Fluorex is a type of fluorescent light made by lights of america, it's basically a CFL (compact fluorescent light). For 2 plants I used a total of 135 watts (65w each light, 4550 lumens).
heres pics of what they look like:
how about this?
Jettazz...I concur...you have a nice plant there and since you need to flower longer,
now you can use that new hps to finish this plant...and you will be happy that you did...it sounds to me like you can go another 2-3 weeks...latewood
I'll continue to leave it under the light until I know she's ready. updates will be posted when necessary
