So unbelievably pissed off....
Hey guys,
Before I start, forgive me for the ramblingness of this thread... lol
Anyway, as some of you probably know by now i'm currently out of work and can't go out much, due to some 'health issues'. Basically i'm stuck in the house most of the day, which really sucks. But last night I got invited round to a friend's house to smoke. We had a pint or two at a local pub and then drove up to his and got really stoned. It was such a good night, we watched loads of Metallica DVDs and jammed and blah blah blah.. At about 1:30am I decided to leave, but since I was so high I thought it would do be some good to walk. I was so wrong.
I pretty much floated all the way home, and by the time I got to town (which is where I live) I had never felt better. I decided to take a detour through the main part of town and when I got there I saw a group of about eleven cops crowded round the back of a police van. I saw a guy I knew among a group of people nearby so I walked over to him, and as I was doing so all the police started following another guy down the road, jumped him, handcuffed him, and pretty much dragged him back to the van. Up until this point I had seen absolutely no reason for them to treat him like this, he wasn't acting aggressive or showing any signs that he might be violent. As they dragged him towards the police van I saw that it was somebody I knew, and since I saw how badly he was being treated I was pissed off.
I didn't wanna say anything though, because the cops around here are, well, assholes, and I knew I woulda got arrested straight away. But as they came past me one of them looked at me and told me to "fuck off". I was like "uhh excuse me?!?" he repeated it and this time stood in front of me and told me to leave. I literally laughed and politely informed him that I had done nothing wrong, broken no laws (as far as they were aware!), and that he had "no right to tell me to fuck off". Then you know what he said? He said that if I didn't leave he would arrest me for swearing at a police officer!!! That's when I got mad... I argued back, not aggressively, maybe angrily. Then he pushed me, and I could tell that he expected me to leave.. I laughed and said "oh, so now you're gonna push me away!?!?!?". He obviously saw that he couldn't intimidate me into leaving so he threatened to 'phsyically remove' me , which meant, I think, he was threatening to pick me up and throw me out of there... He said I had three seconds. When he got to 0 I was still standing there, waiting for him to stop blocking my path so I could actually leave, when he said right, "you're under arrest", to which I repleid "you're fucking joking?".
Up until this point I hadn't been violent or aggressive, I had just been refusing to obey an order that this cop had no right giving me. He called over one of his buddy cops and without any warning or reason they grabbed me, threw me to the floor, nearly broke both of my arms, and handcuffed me. The good thing is I can prove this.. i'm bruised, cut and swollen all over. Anyway, then I was chucked in the back of the van with the handcuffs still on. I still hadn't been told what charge they were arresting me for, who was arresting me, or anything... without even speaking to me I was driven (along with the guy I know hwo I saw being arrested earlier) to the police station, had all my belongings taken from me, searched, had my shoes taken off me, and then was stuck in a cell. I still hadn't been told what exactly it was I was being charged with or how long I was gonna be there for...
Nobod came to speak to me, but at aout 4:30am the cell door opened, but instead of being let out the cop brought another person in to the cell to share with me. So there I was, now ocmpletely sober, locked in a cell with some random drunk dude I had never met before. I waited and waited and waited and at about 6am (I can only imagine) I drifted off to sleep. I was woken at 8am, sat in a little room on my own until 9:30am, then fingerprinted, swapped and photographed. Then I was released. Nobody questioned me, told me what I was even there for, anything. I was so shocked and pissed off that I just walked out the door...
Anyway, it's 10:30am now, and i've only just got home from the cop station.. i'm finding it really hard to type because i'm so fucking angry and because my left wrist is extremely swollen and bruised... Fuck, what a shit night..

I don't know anything about law, but that seems like something you could sue for...

LOL :D
Ghost, dude, that really sucks. I feel so sorry for you man. He had no right to tell you to fuck off or to push you but i think the wiser move would've been to just walk away. Sue their ass.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
Well yeah, I admit that I should have walked away... But when a cop is on a complete power trip, trying to intimidate me, threatening me with violence, giving me orders for no reason, cursing at me and threatening to arrest me for no reason there is no chance in hell I am ever going to walk away... Lol
Oh, and another thing I forgot to mention (for some reason). They never told me any official reason for why I was taken there, but they did tell me something; I apparantly owe £223 in fines for something that happened in 2001. I said since i'm out of work I couldn't pay it, but that those fines were cancelled about three months after I was given them. But they nearly threw me in jail this morning for not paying them!! Argh!! I'm still so pissed off... and now I have to go to court on Monday to explain to some upper class snob fucking judge why I never paid the fines that I was never supposed to pay.. Goddam, it's gonna take alot of effort to not flip out while i'm in court and start calling everyone there every name I can think of... Lol, I've never been this pissed off or humiliated in my life. I had to walk home from the police station, through the middle of a busy town, with my hands covered in that fucking shit they put all over your for fingerprinting! Aaaarrrgggghhhhh!
Oh and I dunno, maybe I could sue them, but I wouldn't want to. This kind of thing has happened to a few people I know and that i've heard of, and a couple have tried to fight back by taking them to court, but they never win. The judges over here are white, upper-class, rich motherfuckers with privileged backgrounds. Nobody ever gets anywhere with them and they don't give a fuck what anyone has to say. It wouldn't be worth it, plus if the judge asked me in court on Monday about what happened and I told him that I was planning to sue, he'd pretty much just laugh and send me to jail.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
They video taped an old man getting the shit beat out of him by a bunch of cops in NEW ORLEANS for being DRUNK!
And the cops still say they did nothing wrong.
He said fuck you or fuck off to one of them, so he deserved it.:(
A policeman could get killed, if he doesn't beat the shit out of people.
I guess you both should be thankful you weren't tackled and shot in the back of the head.;)
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
Damn, that would fucking piss anyone off man. You did da right thing Ghost, i probiblly would have done the same thing. *imagines a short redheaded muslim talking back to a pig, kicking his knee, giggling, and fleeing away with a gtrin on her face**
To bad there were no charges, you could have done it all over a again
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
dude...JUST Walk away next time...you got yourself arrested. Why even pay attention to pigs and what they are doing?
-
So unbelievably pissed off....

-
So unbelievably pissed off....
habeas corpus man....or however you spell it. The cops have NO RIGHT to arrest you without charging you. Its illegal to do this and you need to bring this up when/if you go to court.
that shits fucked up

That sucks Ghost, well done for holding your ground takes big brass tadpole filled McNuggets to stand up for whats right.

I disagree, my pride is not worth getting arrested for. Walking away is always the best way, it takes discipline and restraint but it can be done.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
That sucks ghost. The cops of the world are the meanest gang around. They seem to never be there when you need them and they are always there when you don't need them. I think they cause society more harm than good. But you shouldn't have tried to get yourself arrested. Not sure about the laws there but you could have maybe asked for his badge number, left and then filed a complaint the next day. And remember they have your prints now (incase they didn't already).

So unbelievably pissed off....
fuckin sue them cunting pigs

ghost thats a wank man sorry to hear that sue the fuckers.
god i h8 pigs

GHoST,
I'm glad that you're well enough to type. Shit like this happens every day in every country. Unless somebody dies in the brutality or has it on tape, no justice will be done here. If there is a god, or karma, or justice, or whatever, this guy will eventually get his punishment.
The people who stand up for their freedom are heroes, and I admire your courage in this situation. We all have to live with our actions, but sometimes you can't back down / walk away and compromise your principles and self-respect.

well his friend was being mistreated. i'm sure anyone would have done the same thing. unfortunately, police officers are allowed to hold you for up to twenty-four hours with no cause at all. which isn't really bad. it allows for some time to sit and reflect. swollen wrists and bruised arms should be the least of your worries. everyone who gets put into handcuffs has to deal with that. be grateful they didn't beat the piss out of you. with eleven cops around, there's no way in hell they would have been prosecuted.
sorry to hear about your mishap.
peace

So unbelievably pissed off....
Lesson learned I guess, same thing happened to me once.I got kicked out of a carnival thing and the cop told me if I didn't leave I would be charged with criminal trespassing, so I walked back on to cross it to get on my side of the town to walk home and the next thing I know I have everything in my right hand flung to the ground and I'm being hand cuffed and escorted to the police tent. And then when I told the cop my reasons for going back he said "I don't give a shit".There nothing you can do with cops really.Just bend over and get fucked in the ass like the rest..
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
this same thing has happened to me, it is not illegal at all for the pigs to do this, all they need is 1 other cops confirmation that you were intoxicated (whether its true or not) and they can hold you for 24 hrs. there is nothing you can do. this is where we have gotten too, (im in the usa) the nazi's are in power, its funny you know, the people of the '60's are now in power all the hippy's and pot and free love, and now its worse then it has ever been, but I suppose there not really the ones in power they were the ones enforcing and killing people for these stupid "laws" fucking pigs . burn in hell pigs (if there is even a god)
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
I think its unfair to tar all with the same brush, I know alot of police officers who do a fantastic job but like anywhere you always get the odd knobhead and the police are no exception.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
it all depends upon your vantage point brother. I would say even looking objectively that the great majority are exactly as described. if your in a comfortable suburb that rarely has any police contact your going to automatically assume there all good.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
I see then all too frequently by me but I can't say I've ever had an unpleasent dealings with them. They are sometimes a little too heavy handed but in the main they react with a sutible amount of force, given some of the shit that I've some of them they do well not to lash out regularly. Thats not too say that they're all saintly you here storys of the odd police brutality but its rare.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
i say u have weed gnomes attack police station and plant bombs
thats what i would do
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
Well if you can't sue, you could always go looking for the cop that did that, then you could slash his tires, cum in his coffee, Lick all the sticky shit off his stamps and fuck his gf... God willing.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
those stupid pig bitches, i hate cops! they all are crooked! this one cop said that my mom and sis and some seed and stems in the car and he smelled reefer, so he took my mom to the police station and charged her for 4 differnet things!! and the messed up thing is that they werent smoking and hednt been all day! they had no money so therfore no reefer!
my mom had to pay a $1000 fine and had to do community work for absolutley no reason! cops can do what they want to who they want and get away with it. thats why i say, ANARCHY!!! dude, f*ck these pigs and this government, they dont give a shit about us just our money, so we should fight them and get what we deserve back!
i hate cops with a passion, if only i could get one somewhere where nonone could see us, ha i dont even want to say what i would want to do. they have taken so many of my friends away from me for no reason. they were innocent and they are still sitting in jail to this day. i government is fucked up and i hate them
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
Ghost, you can do something far better than sue them, go to the media. contact a local news station (or the closest equivilant) and tell them you're story, all the incredibly unprofessional conduct of these cops. news stations love to jump all over cop misconduct, call some attention to these fuckers! I know you may not want to put in all the effort, but it's more than worth it, you can't let such tyrany-based activity go on unpunished and unnoticed.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
Ghost, I am so so sorry that something so awful had to happen to you, I could not even begin to imagine what you are going through, but I can guess you have been replaying the entire event in your brain more times than you would want to. Being wronged is almost crippling to a person, and of all people in this world, you did not deserve to be wronged by anybody, Ghost.
All I can say is in time the anger and frustration of being treated so unfairly will eventually subside, and this will be a story you will find humorous than one that makes your blood boil when thinking about it like Im sure is the case for you right now. It sure would be for me.
I had a confrontation with a cop several months ago, I was driving home and it was late and I hit a major traffic jam on the highway to my house. When I finally crawled up to less than a block away from the turn to my neighborhood I couldnt see the intersection I needed to turn at cuz the cars were so backed up but when I finally got up to the left-turn lane (still unable to see intersection because the lane starts really far back) I got in and at that point saw that the intersection and the turn to my neighborhood was closed off. Complete mistake on my part, however the lane was not blocked off, there was no sign or warning not to get into the lane to my knowledge. I know I didnt hit any cones or remove any tape. Well anyway, the cop directing the traffic at the intersection stormed over to me burning mad, yelled at me, told me how inconsiderate I was of the other drivers for trying to turn at this closed off intersection while they are sitting in traffic, and with such hostility was like "what were you thinking??? did you really think you'd be able to turn here, HUH???" I so badly wanted to defend myself because it absolutely wasn't my intention to try and pull a fast one in this traffic jam like he was making it out to be, I just honestly didnt know that it was closed off, and there was no warning. With everything in me I said simply "Im sorry officer, what should I do now?" He rolled his eyes and said "you can sit there until I wave you through, but expect to wait a while." Then he stormed off to his buddies while pointing to me and huffing and puffing over what a stupefying idiot I am.
After about 10 minutes of my watching him blow his whistle at other cars and yell and have attitudes with them (though not quite like what he had done to me) he waved me through, and as I slowly drove by him he yelled "next time I'll give you ticket for pulling that kind of stunt!!!" At that point I so wanted to put this asshole and his rediculous ego/power trip in his fucking place...but I bit my tongue...HARD. It made me so angry because he was treating me as though I had some ill intention, and that he so eagerly assumed the worst about me. I didnt understand what exactly he was trying to accomplish talking to me the way he was since there was nothing I could do to change it.
I knew I shouldn't argue with him or defend myself or attempt to explain because he was intoxicated off the fumes of his ego. My trying to do any of those things, which would be a reasonable reaction by any normal persons standards, would have given him reason to do to me what he really would have liked to have done. If I could give him more reason to be irate, he would have taken me up on it, and punished me because he could, and I asked for it in his eyes.
It hurt my pride to just take it, sure. It really hurt my pride. But I had to look at the end result, and I knew I wanted to go home that night after all that time sitting in traffic. Arguing with an emotionally unstable police officer over something that couldn't be changed would probably not have the end result I wanted. I took comfort in that, even though I was wronged, I had to size up my opponent before a potential match, and I feel as though I made a smart move letting him have his little trip on me, as humiliating as it was for me to do so. I would never have won or been able to right the wrong.
With your situation you really did do nothing wrong and an officer of the law told an innocent civilian onlooker to fuck off. Your reaction to his audacity is completely, 100% understandable. I dont want to say you should be proud, but you should consider yourself fortunate (for the most part) that you got a first-hand insight into the true colors of some policemen and what they are capable of when they have a little power. An experience like yours will make you all the more empathetic to stories similar, you will always be able to relate your story to others, and never will you be blase on the subject of law enforcement and their power over the people. Not that you were before, but now you most likely never ever will. Like the old saying goes, "what doesnt kill us..."
Anyway, again, so sorry, Ghost. :( Keep your mind occupied and take care of yourself so this unfortunate experience doesn't consume you more than it already may be. *hugs*

yea, i forgot to tell you i was sorry about what happened. that really sucks. and i agree with mrdevios bring that shit up to the news!! it would totally be worth it.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
Wow... this was one of the most interesting threads (and stories for the matter) I think I've ever read. Ghost - That shit is fucked up man. At this point I wouldn't really care if I won in court, I'd sue the living shit out of the police department who's officers did that to you. I'd bring in the media... I'd bring in eyewitnesses, I would make it get MESSY. Fuck man... if I were in your shoes, I'd not only be pissed to bloody hell, I'd be making sure someone pays. Read what you said about the judges... and while that sucks... I'd ignore it anyway and sue them so you can tell your side of the story. If you get the story publicized in the media then the judge will make the right decision for once for a fear of looking bad to the public.
I really don't know what I would have done in that situation Ghost... and I admire what you did. I have a big mouth on me, so i probably would have defended myself and my friend to the cop. If I was really irritated, I'd probably tell him where he could jam his night stick. That really is completely fucked up man. I've had a good 7 or 8 confrontations with cops, and somehow have managed to stay out of getting a ticket (Though I'm incredibly surprised I didn't get a disorderly conduct ticket for pulling some shit when I went to the highschool in town.... they just talked to me and yelled at me for awhile).
I hope you get some justice Ghost.... it's a fucked up world out there... I would take pictures of all your bruises, cuts, and injuries right away TODAY... proof like that can fade over time. Keep me posted on what's up man... and I hope your day gets a bit better.

I agree!
When you were told to fuck off why didn't you say something like "They're my mates you're kicking seven shades of shit out of!" and if you did say that, you didn't tell us.
After you were pushed and told to fuck off, you could have walked away and watched from another angle, as there was no way you could help your mate and so you didn't have to get angry after you knew he was an asshole and would arrest you.
Swallow your pride and just walk away next time, maybe you could stay back until it's over, and if your mate is gonna get done in, he's gonna get it. So maybe you can try and see if the pigs wanna talk after your mate is gone.

I certainly agree with that. It's very easy to say, "Fuck the police" but it's completely irrational. You need police, they're crucial for order to remain in place. Unfortunately, there's a few sour apples in every basket, as aforementioned by Raider, so I would take some sort of action but only against that particular officer (if possible, that is), don't just establish a hatred for police.
First, I'd recommend taking pictures or something so if you do end up taking this thing to court, you have pictures of your bruises and injuries. You don't want to show up saying you had bruises, you know?
Second, if possible, try to find out which officer actually did this and see what you can do from there-- there was no mention in your story of him reading you your Miranda Rights, so right off the bat there's a constitutional violation.
Third, understand that there's little you can do to right the police's wrong. You can sue this police department individually but that won't do anything to make sure these things won't happen. At best, become a cop and go out of your way to be merciful and leniant when the conditions apply (like pot possession :D ) but something to consider-- only SOME cops deserve Chinese torture.
(Of course, these are things you'll only be able to put into perspective once you've blown off some steam. There's no way such an event can happen without feeling raped of your rights-- so, breathe, spark a fat ass bowl, and whatever you do, don't go supporting stupid things like anarchy, as somebody suggested earlier.)

Sometimes in situations Pride is too hard to swallow. I admire Ghost for what he did... a lot of people wouldn't have the balls to stand up to a pig like that. I think when it's one of your own friends... it hits home and one may no longer care what trouble they could get into, as long as they make a stance towards the piece of shit cops beating up their friends. I don't know what i would have done in that situation... it's a tough one to call. I did have a friend who was arrested for no reason, told to get out of the car, which he did obediantly, before they grabbed him, threw him down against the pavement (his head hit first, he had a big welt, which they reported over the CB radio or whatever its called, saying he was resisting arrest.) They towed his car, which was a BLOCK away from his girlfriends and 3 miles away from his parents, they wouldn't let him call one of them to come get the car... and then they threw him in jail for two and a half days. He didn't get any tickets, got the shit beaten out of him, and a five hundred dollar towing and holding fine at the local impound lot. After he had been in jail a day, the took him to a correctional institution and tried to shoot him up with a bunch of drugs.... He never did anything illegal, didn't even resist arrest.. but the cops in this town hate him and had it out for him. Should I had been riding in the car with him at that point... I can garauntee I would have defended him and ended up right behind bars with him... I fuckin hate cops..... Point is though... I would have taken my pride and gone to jail in that situation , then let them abuse my friend for no reason in front of my eyes... I agree with what ghost did 100 percent.

yea keep us all posted we really want to know!! someone needs to stop these bitch ass cops and you can help them! or even that person could be you.
you probaly did the best thing you could in that situation. Like BMAN719 i would have been bitching ever since i saw what was happening. it's not that i have a big mouth it's just if i see something wrong i will do everything i can to stop it.
i know i wouldnt have handled it they way you did and i give you mad props for that dude.

Man, Ghost for once im lost for words! I hate all these people in authority abusing our trust and their positions. And they wonder why so many hate the Police, it's for reasons just like Ghost has pointed out!
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
that's REALLY fucked up shit man. sorry to hear about your misfortune. i know where you're coming from though. i got pulled over, harrassed, and physically 'handled' by the police once. it's a total fucking joke the way cops abuse their authority. FUCK AUTHORITY. anyhow, i hope that you will be able to do something about this.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
Man, that sucks so bad! I live in a 'small' town where the cops are the most useless twits in the county, possibly the state. I've witnessed a lot of shit over the years and the last chief was arrested for embezzleing money from the burough. Heroin use is outrageous in this town yet no arrests for it , only marijuana. I have seen the way they trash houses when they think they have a 'big' bust. 3 z's and they think they're SWAT or something. Try to stand up for yourself and you will be violently shoved into the back of a squad car. Most people around here believe the heroin dealers have the entire dept, in their pocket. I know I am supposed to be mature enough to maintain my composure around the 'authorities, but I have an extremely hard time keeping my mouth shut around the assholes they have here. The abuse of their authority is so blatant and outrageous and no one seems to be able to do a damn thing about it. Several years back there was a business man n the area who was insensed by the heroin epidemic in our town and he was organizing the people who wanted to see some changes in the situation. He had a sign on his lot that read, Welcome to Ephrata, home of horseshit and heroin. The man was run out of town by the Authorities. We live in an area full of Amish people and they still use horse and buggies for transportation, for real! Thats where the horseshit comes from, just some backgreound FIY. There is a large population of Mennonites, a less strict sect of Amish and they rule around here. We call it the Mennonite Mafia. They control large amounts of cash in the community through suffocating the area with their businesses. They run the townships, and boroughs throughout the county and so impose their will on the entire area. This trickles down right to the cop shop and the corruption and abuses committed throughout.
I know there are innumerable towns across the country with the same shit, but it feels good to vent about the pricks. Good for you for standing up for you and your friend, unfortunately, they love to try to use 'insubbordination to a police officer' and get away with it too often. I hope it all works out for you.
-
So unbelievably pissed off....
Woah, that's alot of replies.. Every reply I read I think of something to reply with, but there are way too many and I got confused. :( Lol
Thanks for your kind words, dudes.. Somebody (soryr, i've forgotten) hit the nail on the head when they said I got off easy; there were a ton of irate cops around and even more back at the station - for whatever reason every officer I saw looked as angry as the last - and they could have done anything to me... So a few bumps and bruises is something to be thankful for, I think..
What's angered me the most, though, is the way police blatantly abuse their power every single day, all over the world. They're like bouncers; alot of bopuncers at clibs are extremely strict - if they see someone and don't like their attitude or even the way they look they can kick them out of the club, or not even let them inside in the first place. Well alot of police are like that - if you have a bad attitude or don't treat them with the upmost respect that they think they deserve, or sometimes even if you're in the wrong place at the wrong time, then they'll find some way to kick you out of their club.
Whether we believe it or not, police have alot of power. In some places even a misdemeanor or a small petty charge can ruin somebodies career and inevitably their life. Law enforcement officers know this and use it to keep us silent. If I had the opportunity to consult another police officer about what happened to me on Friday, i'm sure he or she would have said something like "well, you should have just kept your mouth shut/walked away". But, in my opniion, police officers take walking away as aquiesance, and if I don't agree i'm not going to act like I do! Lol
I guess i'll see what happens in court tomorrow. I'm shitting myself, not because myself or anyone around me thinks i'm guilty, but because it doesn't matter what myself or anyone around me thinks. Judges, for the most part, are just as bad as cops. They uphold the law, but they make their own rules.
I'll keep you guys updated (which means i'll post after court tomorrow.. Lol)! Thanks again for your support.. Man, I love you guys! :D
*hugs Ousted*

So unbelievably pissed off....
good luck in court, I don't like cops, I'm sure there are some deceant ones but most of them I don't trust.
