Increase File size limits!
I'm sure you have all had awesome avatars, cool pictures to upload, etc when you got the stupid error message: File size too large blahblahblah. Administrators of the forum: this is completely lame! The user priveledges on these forums are limited enough, why limit the avatar file size limit to the absurdly low limit it is currently set at?
Another thing that I find quite moronic, no offence to anyone, is the moderation of new members. Do you have any idea how many members you loose when they find out, after registering, that they still can't post because the administrator has not activated their account yet? You should only change that if you want more members to the forum...
Please increase the size limit (not the pixel limit, the KB file size limit) to a more reasonable ammount!
Also, one other thing: it would be really nice, I'm sure others would agree, to have the ability to have images in signatures. If nothing else this should be a cafe member benefit, because quite honestly there is no point to getting cafe membership unless you really just want to support cannabis.com (In my opinion).
Lastly, I think it would also be beneficial to have a new better looking skin. This one is just... too default. I would be happy to help with making a logo or any other graphics needed for a new skin.

No, no. You don't get what I'm saying dude. The maximum allowed file size for uploading things needs to be increased, even if an image is saved as jpeg it has to be extremely low quality to pass through the upload crap here...
Oh yeah, we definately need some good smilies too, as I said before this whole forum is just too default.

AGH!
Are you guys actually reading my posts? I am not saying that we need bigger avatar sizes (the pixels), I'm saying we need a greater file size limit, for every file that is uploaded, including avatars, for everyone.
If you compare these forums to many other, much larger forums, you'll realize how lame many of the limitations and whatnot on these forums are. If you provide more incentive for people to come back the forum would be much larger.
And yes, I know what I am talking about; I am a staff member on one of the largest vBulletin forums (gamingforums.com) and I also run my own reasonably successful forums. Just trying to help improve these forums so maybe they can be as great as some of the other forums.

If the staff would actually read and consider my, and others, requests I might. From what I observe, there seems to be just a general disreguard towards anyones suggestions posted here by the staff. I don't mean to be offensive or sound bitchy to anyone, but this quite aggrevating. How many times have people posted requesting new smilies, etc. only to be ignored?

Firstly, most all 100x100 .JPGs should easily compress down (save), even at the best quality, to under 25 KB.
Secondly, 25 KB is quite sufficient for a 100x100 .GIF image - even for highly animated .GIFs.
Take a look at our advertisers page - most all the 100x100 and even the larger 468x60 banners are under 25 KB.
http://www.marihemp.com/advertisers/
Much can be done in 25 KB - key is to be efficient when creating animated .GIFs; use of a decent optimizer, such as Animation Shop in Paint Shop Pro 5+.
The reason for the file size limit is so pages don't take forever to load; encourages folks to be efficient when making their avatars.
Thank you for your comments.

Hmmm.. I don't think you completely understood my post. Read it again, especially the [/mod_speak] part. :)
Welcome to Cafe Membershipness, Bob! :)

Yeah, i noted that, ghost. :p
@Ron
I understand your concern for 56k users/loading times. Thanks for looking out for those stuck in the dark ages of internet.

Actually, my current avatar is at quality 3 or 4 (the max is 10 on my version of PhotoShop), it is also less than 100x100. 25 KB might be sufficient for low quality jpeg/jpgs, but for an animated gif no way, unless it is crappy animation. I guess the issue here is the quality of the image we can upload compared to the best quality. Text becomes unreadable many times, plus text cannot be big to start with due to the 100x100 limit.
Enough of that though, I see I'm not going to convince anyone.
One thing I would like to convince people of, though, is a new set of preferably marijuana related smilies. This would be very easy to do, one could just modify the default ones or download a new set, as I am sure there has to be one somewhere.
Anyway yeah...

25KB should be more than enough for a JPG file, even if only compressed slightly. Heck even using a lossLESS algorithm like LZH (as used in many .gifs) would still easily get a 100x100 JPG file under 25 KB.
Problem is that Photoshop by default includes a lot of extra stuff into saved files - for jpegs: be sure that image preview (a smaller version of the jpeg) isn't being saved in the file, and also be sure embedded information such as profiles are turned off - they generally aren't needed for images intended for the web.
Many consumer, and even free open-source, programs optimize better than Photoshop does ... give Paint Shop Pro or similar a try.
More smilies are coming - it's on my list of things to do.

If you don't like it, get the fuck out :p . Aside from that, the members such as myself (who have not yet converted to Cafe Members) should just be stoked that we can use these boards for free, considering the countless number of hours we all spend on the site. I agree, it's not a great fact that the limit is twenty five kb... but It's not anything I worry about given the site is free to use and roam :).

Ah! I didn't even think about that, I have a few other image editors, but photoshop takes the cake for functionality, as far as I'm concerned. I'll try stuff with Picasa, sometime. Thanks for the tip, maybe stuff like that
should be more widely known.
If you need anyone to help with new smilies, I'm sure there are plenty of photoshop profficient members here, including myself. ;)
