Good Idea/Bad Idea?

I met a guy a few weeks ago and have been hanging out with him everyday since. He might be one of the nicest guys I have ever met, and we get along exttremely well. Our relationship is purely plutonic, but I definitely wouldn't mind if it turned into something more.

Well, like myself, he has a lot of past situations and drama to deal with here in the city we live in. He wants to get away and has been looking for a roommate to move to Wilmington, NC with him. I was pondering the idea of moving to Jacksonville, FL, but this may be a better situation for me.

We're both planning on finding jobs there and going to the community college down there. I know some people who go to UNC Wilmington and others who live there.

So, do y'all think it's a good idea to move with him in 2 weeks?

just make sure you have a back up plan in case it all goes to shit. seeing as you've only known him for two weeks and all.

Plus, I just really need to get out of Winston-Salem because I'm caught in an endless cycle of just getting fucked up all the time and not doing anything progessive. And, I feel like all the people I care about here are either getting in trouble or going to jail or are going to get shot or have already died. Most of them are into drugs and alcohol way too deep, and I'm trying to cut down, especially on my drinking.

Downtown Jacksonville is beautiful - I've seen pictures. From what I've heard, though, I wouldn't want to live there. :( This is how I see it, Haze. I know too many people who've jumped into commitments very early and lived to regret it. And it's weird how you can be best friends with someone, and feel like you're in love with them, then get together and realize things aren't how you'd imagined. I'm too familiar with that story. There is, however, no way of knowing whether this actually *is* the right guy for you, though. You never know. Sometimes you just need to take a chance rather than spending your whole life wondering "what if"? Advice is always a good way to gather opinions, but the decision should be based on how you feel. Personally I wouldn't do it seeing as you've only known him for so long. I've had my heart broken in thirteen pieces, and am very cautious of commitment. Of course, it sounds like there's a chance nothing will happen between you two - it could just be a chance to get a change of scenery and pace. Do what you feel is best. :)

Do you think you can live with him, forever, down there?

If you break up, what would you do? You probably won't have too much of a social life, after developing a relationship with him and moving to a strange city (la villa strangiato). Then you'd be scared. I'd just give up, if I were you.

Really, how much you like this guy should be the basis of your decision. Do you want to marry him? That's what it'd be like if both of you are transported to Jacksonville. I'm just looking at this from my (ex) girlfriend's perspective.

Blazin', you said you're just friends and it's platonic, so go for it! If you were going to move in with him as his girlfriend, I'd say, "Hell no!" But, since you're just buds and you will have a third roomie, it sounds like a fresh start just waiting for you. Get out of your rut and try a new city, it'll probably be good for you. I wouldn't get too wrapped up in him, though, just because you will be living together, and if it all goes to shit with you two as a couple, you will be stuck. So, stay friends, but HANDS OFF! lol

Personally, I'd much rather live in NC than Florida.

If you're sure it's safe then why the fuck not? It sounds great.. Just make sure you have a Plan B. Good luck! :)

but just make sure to have a second plan before even thinking about staying with him. you cant tell if hes your friend in only 2 weeks. just please watch over yourself. you dont know what will happen

Y'all gave me some shit to think about definitely. Our friendship ir pretty awesome; I mean I feel like I've known him for years. If it doesn't work out I have an aunt who lives down there who has no problem with me staying with her. So I do have a Plan B.

Y'all are fuckin' awesome because I love being able to get advice from people outside the situation.

I really appreciate the advice I always ask for; basically, if this was the compliment thread, I would give props to all of you for being the honest, intelligent, caring people that you are. (sniffles a little bit)

Yeah, it really is beautiful. It sorta holds a special meaning for me, because I was born and raised there until I was about 7 ... And I haven't been back yet
:( maybe someday I'll go there for a week or something, just to get back in touch with it. Sorry, just really high right now and reading this just brought back so many missed memories.
