Came home from work and the wife tells me that a helicopter was flying low around our house for like 5 min ...have 5 plants outside...hidden if your on the street , but very visable in a helo.

went back 1/2 hour later .....dug them up.......pulled off a huge handful of buds.....reburied the rest.....poured amonia all over/in the hole.....Im still waiting for the cops to burst through my door!.......gonna dry it and see.

Man you freaked out for nothing.. IMO.. What goverment would waste a helicopter for your 5 plants... That just a wast of a huge resource... and he would have to be an eagle to say hey that is weed.. I have heard of them doing this over a cornfield.. but the person was growing like a whole patch of plants.. Perhaps your wife was a little paranoid about the weed and told a great story.. Think how close a chopter would have to be to see your 5 plants

This NEVER happened before...(helo) ...Im not really worried anymore, but I would have been REAL nervous for the next three weeks.

Aerial surveillance leads to pot bust in Pohatcong

John E. Sakos, 61, of Phillipsburg, was arrested without incident on Tuesday, Aug. 23, at about 5:30 p.m., concluding an investigation conducted by aerial surveillance by the Pohatcong Township Police Department, New Jersey National Guard and the Warren County Prosecutor's Office/Multi-Jurisdictional Narcotics Task Force. Assisting in the arrest was the Phillipsburg Police Department. At the time of Sakos' arrest, several suspected marijuana plants, growing equipment and paraphernalia was seized from his residential property.Earlier in the day, the U.S. National Guard, in conjunction with the Warren County Prosecutor's Office/ Narcotics Task Force, was conducting aerial surveillance in the Township of Pohatcong when they allegedly observed marijuana plants growing on Sakos' property. A subsequent search of the residence revealed 11 suspected marijuana plants growing on the property.
Sakos was charged with one count of manufacturing marijuana, a second degree crime; one count of possession of marijuana in an amount greater than 50 grams, a fourth degree crime; and one count of manufacturing drug paraphernalia, a fourth degree crime.
The maximum sentence for manufacturing marijuana, second degree, is up to 10 years in New Jersey State Prison and fines in the amount of $150,000; the maximum sentence for possession of marijuana in an amount greater than 50 grams, Fourth Degree, is up to 18 months of incarceration and fines in the amount of $25,000; and the maximum sentence for manufacturing drug paraphernalia, Fourth Degree, is up to 18 months of incarceration and fines in the amount of $10,000.
Bail was set by Municipal Court Judge Joseph Steinhardt at $50,000 no 10% option. Sakos was incarcerated at the Warren County Correctional Facility in lieu of bail, and made his first appearance before Superior Court Judge John H. Pursel.

BayBoat - I know your pain...and your wife's paranoia. It really goes with the territory when growing. But consider this - were those 5 small plants just sitting out there in the open, with no other vegetation around them? When growing outside, the idea is to intersperse your plants with other potted plants or vegetation, so that they can't be easily spotted. I mean, the cops would have to have been tipped off by somebody in that case, b/c with so few plants of such small stature, the choppers would really have to be looking for a needle in a haystack. Is it possible a neighbor or someone else who knows (and maybe has a grudge) tipped off the cops?

The plants were surounded by my house and fencing 4' and 6' tall...down a little alleyway in the rear of my property, but no overhead camoflage like trees/bushes... space was 5' x 10 '

Copper Ridge bust lasted 11 hours

Three marijuana grow operations totalling an estimated $2 million to $5 million in value were shut down by Whitehorse RCMP on Thursday afternoon.
The bust, which police are calling ??substantial?, involved three homes in the Copper Ridge subdivision.
A total of about 2,400 marijuana plants were seized from the three houses, with approximately 800 plants per house.
The estimated worth of the seized plants is broad because the drugs can be sold in bulk or by the joint, Sgt. John Sutherland said in an interview today.
The size of the plants varied widely, from baby plants just beginning to sprout to plants that reached 5 1/2 feet in height, Sutherland explained.
Five men were arrested in association with the grow-ops, three of whom are Whitehorse residents.
The other two men are from Vancouver.
They are facing charges of the production of a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking, both regarding marijuana.
One of the trio has also been charged with possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking cocaine and another with possession of property obtained by crime.
While names are not being released by police, the three Whitehorse men are 26-, 44- and 43-years-old.
The Vancouver men are 36- and 40-years-old.
The bust lasted about 11 hours, beginning at around 4 p.m. and continuing through the night until about 3:00 this morning.
Officers from both the Whitehorse detachment and the Yukon-wide ??M? Division Drug Section descended on the homes with the police dog. They found both the plants and equipment associated with cultivating the drugs.
The equipment included lamps, shades and ballasts among other common tools used for growing marijuana, according to Sutherland.
??Anything you see on TV on a grow-op,? he said.
The exact addresses of the houses in Copper Ridge have not been released.
The seizure was the result of an ongoing investigation, Sutherland said.
??It??s been a long-term, ongoing investigation,? he said.
The men are set to appear in court today and police are continuing to investigate the matter.
The last major drug bust occurred in May.
RCMP seized approximately 101 kilograms (225 pounds) of marijuana from a vehicle driving into Whitehorse from the Alaska Highway. Two men from Squamish, B.C. were charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The two busts cannot be directly compared as the circumstances were very different, according to Sutherland.
The May bust involved marijuana that had been harvested, packaged and was ready to sell. It had also been brought up to Whitehorse from B.C.
Thursday??s massive seizure involved plants grown within Whitehorse, he said. It is not known exactly how much marijuana would have been harvested from the thousands of plants.
Shutting down a grow-op has implications that reach far beyond the immediate drug seizure, Sutherland said.
??The proceeds from these types of operations go to support other criminal activities.
??It may not necessarily be in Whitehorse but that??s everything from prostitution to fraud and everything in between.?
The RCMP provide pamphlets to help residents recognize if a grow-op is operating in their neighbourhoods.
Community support is important in shutting down drug cultivation, Sutherland said.
