Bush Cites Military Takeover In Case Of Flu Outbreak

During this afternoon's White House press conference President Bush confirmed that he would attempt to impose military curfews and quarantines in case of a flu pandemic occurring in the United States.

The comes on the heels of a majority of the nation's governors rejecting the Bush administration's proposal to use active-duty military assets in providing disaster relief. Understanding this in the context of Hurricane Katrina, this means total gun confiscation and enforced evacuation at gunpoint.

Bush stated, "If we had an outbreak somewhere in the United States, do we not then quarantine that part of the country, and how do you then enforce a quarantine? When -- it's one thing to shut down airplanes; it's another thing to prevent people from coming in to get exposed to the avian flu. And who best to be able to effect a quarantine? One option is the use of a military that's able to plan and move."

This is the same justification that Bush used throughout the Hurricane Katrina debacle. The crisis was made worse by intentional federal sabotage of the relief efforts that were being conducted by the local government in New Orleans. FEMA were cutting communication lines and denying food, water and oil shipments to the critically affected areas. This led local Sheriffs to set up armed patrols to keep FEMA out of their county zones.

The elimination of Posse Comitatus via natural disasters which are then intentionally sabotaged by government, is one of the Bush administration's major goals. Bush has openly announced his plan to have the Pentagon usurp power over State's rights.

Posse Comitatus allows for the use of the military for relief efforts only, not for law enforcement. This is why Bush is trying to eliminate the 1878 law, because his ideal of military involvement in crises is one of quarantines, checkpoints, mandatory vaccinations, curfews and evacuations, and not of providing relief or infrastructure protection.

We have been warning for years that natural disasters would be used as a means of placing active duty military on the streets of America. People are not buying into the scam that we need a police state to fight Al-CIAda terrorists so this is the next step. Today it's hurricanes, in five to ten years it will be the threat of asteroids and meteors.

The message is the same, you have no right to protect yourself and we will confiscate your firearms if you even try. The truth is that throughout history government has never been able to adequately protect the people and to forcefully take that mantle only makes matters worse.

Is the threat of a bird flu pandemic a red flag or is it simply a means of creating a false scarcity so that everyone runs out and buys the antidote fearing an imminent outbreak?

We should be wise to remember that the revelation that the Bush cabinet was on Cipro, the anthrax fighting antibiotic, only emerged in the media after the anthrax attack was in process, not before.

Therefore it seems more likely that this is a ruse to line the pockets of the government affiliated pharmaceutical companies.

One thing is clear, if this outbreak did occur then the justification to suspend Constitutional rights will be flaunted to its maximum exposure. Back in April President Bush added pandemic influenza to the list of diseases for which quarantine is authorized.

China's zealous martial law tactics in dealing with SARS, home detention, curfews, mandatory vaccinations, restriction of travel, are the model for what could unfold in the US.

The federal blueprint for the exact same scenario was released and picked up by the Associated Press a year ago.

This will make ID cards and airport security checks look like a tea party.

And when this flu pandemic happens who will we blame? Surely not US scientists playing around with the deadly 1918 Spanish flu virus at "less than the maximum level of containment" according to the New Scientist magazine.

Bush's comments are clearly intended to acclimatize people to accept martial law in times of crisis caused by natural disasters or health pandemics.

With two more major hurricanes predicted to hit in October we should all remain vigilant and speak out against the government hijacking crises in order to implement their jack-booted police state agenda.

When (not if, when) a worldwide influenza pandemic strikes, I won't care if there is a quarantine, you couldn't pay me to leave the house. You think this is bullshit? How much education in microbiology do you have? None, I would guess, or you would understand-the first time someone is simutaniously infected with both the bird flu and the regular (human to human contagious) flu, the two will transfer genetic material. The very likely result is a human to human contagious disease with a 50% mortality rate. This is not politics, or conspiracy, this is like AIDS, or the black death, or the flu of 1918. each of which killed 10's of millions of people. For once in his life GW seems to have listened to people smarter than he. Unfortunately, the responce will be handled by inept political appointies.

Dr. Irwin Redlener, associate dean of Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health and director of its National Center for Disaster Preparedness, called the president's suggestion an "extraordinarily draconian measure" that would be unnecessary if the nation had built the capability for rapid vaccine production, ensured a large supply of anti-virals like Tamiflu, and not allowed the degradation of the public health system.

"The translation of this is martial law in the United States," Redlener said.

Andrue I have my masters in Bio now and I'll call unnecessary on that.....am I qualified in your eyes? (microbiology is a class ive taken often as a part of that....). Or is my insignificant education on the subject not enough....Also nothing is guaranteed in genetics too you might want to rethink your claims about certain things in your paragraph (but im sure your just over generalizing to make a point about others ;) ).

Quarantines do not work at all......all it takes is the slightest mistake, its better to let natural evolution and scientific method to take place instead. More people die but in the end the strong survive (the very basis of biology and life). It sounds cruel however this is how nature works. Please do not come back with so many people can be saved because you know they couldnt. Either they have the cure or they dont, something will always break a quarantine. Talk to anyone who works in a hospital, Or any of the Disease Control and Study Centres.

(the very likely result is actually a harmless virus to both parties if you look at all the available evidence on virii , which isnt very much we dont understand very much about them at all in fact other than statistical behaviour on the whole...)

Yes, that probably would be best for humans in general, but then the comspiracy theorists and neo-libs would say its anoter conspiracy to kill all of the people that oppose Bush... There is no right, wrong or best... just a conspiracy.

Yocass actually does make a valid point there, For instance I'm a firm believer in hanging David Icke (dont ask long story I just dont like him....mostly his past , "judge a man not by his past" (whoever said that was an idiot....he he) has no meaning considering his past behaviour is an indicator of his future actions. Standard Psych :) ), Ill fully admit there are lots of people who accept it all at face value and when disproved just move on to the next (much like religious people when faced with a logical fallacy in their doctrine), oh well. :). In reality they are fairly easy to spot , Kathaksung...(if thats how you spell it, is an excellent example of said warning by yocass).

Somehow, I think if you had a masters in anything, you would be able to spell "another" But i'm not mad at you, some people really do need to lie to make friends. That wasn't aimed at you, by the way, I was reading what you quoted.

I would note that while a particular mutation is unlikely to lead to an especially deadly strain, there will be many, and while stockpiling vaccine is obviously a good idea, it is not certain that any vaccine would be affective against a new strain, and even in a normal flu season there is not enough vaccine available for everyone.

You also might want to note I SAID I had the masters yocass didnt but you quoted him and made fun of him for misspelling another?(as I dont see that word even in my post) Good job trying to denigrate someones point by attacking their non claimed credentials (and if it was aimed at me despite not quoting me then feel free to dispute my education I could really care less. And I said I was refering to what he was quoting, not my fault you can't read. I do agree with you however, a viral pandemic is unlikely this year, or next. But given enough time, it is as certain as another hurricane hitting New Orlean.
