Anybody else ever have an extended and overwhelming psychotoxic reaction to cannabis?
I'm in the process of recovering from one that's lasted 2.5 weeks, and it's been Hell.
I had severe attacks of anxiety, panic, and hypochondria, I had some degree of acute brain syndrome, and I was constantly afraid that I had rabies or that I was suffering from cardio-pulmonary failure.
I've been fine over the past couple of days, and haven't needed to use ativan since Tuesday (which is good, because it's caused ataxia and over-sedation in me).
Now before you laugh, I know it's cannabis, because it triggerred the first attacks, and I had an isolated psychotoxic episode last summer.
In general, I'm the last one off of a joint or a bowl when I smoke with friends, and the nights that I have smoked, I've over-indulged and at times during the summer I was smoking moderate to large amounts virtually every night.
Should I ever smoke again, how much should I allow myself to smoke if I ever choose to do so again, and should I avoid activities that involve extensive psychomotor and/or intellectual stimulation while high (I spent a lot of my intoxicated time playing poker, video games, and fast-paced edutainment pub games (Megatouch) that involved extensive manipulation of words and/or numbers) and favour relaxation instead?

What's the solution? Continuing to smoke, but smoking a lot less?

Or should I abandon the drug forever?
It's been 9 days since I've had weed and 6 since I've had coffee (although I've had soft drink and tea, so I've consumed small amounts of caffeine, but nothing like I was before). My alcohol use is down (mainly because the worst of my bad period included a time where I had no appetite for (but was still perfectly capable of consuming) anything but water), but I was never drinking more than 1 to 3 units a day anyways.

Now before I type, there's no reason to laugh. It can't be cannabis because all of it's effects are non-toxic.

If it's that serious, how about never smoking again?
But I seriously doubt marijuana alone could trigger something like that.

I've never had any paranoia or anxiety whatsoever associated with weed.
But one time my roommate was smoking with my girlfriend and me, and we smoked about 2g of KB between the three of us. My roommate suddenly started slighting out of his chair and repeatedly asking us what the fuck was going on. He was hysterical for the next three hours, kept randomly moving around on the floor, getting sucked into closets, really bizarre shit. He was crying practically the whole time. Talk about a fucking downer.
Anyway, he's smoked a few other times with us and he's fine as long as he doesn't overindulge. If I were you I'd just watch out with the KB and know your limit.

I don't know about toxicity and stuff, but at the end of the day, you are putting an alien fume in your body with sole intent to temporarily modify the state of your psyche. For people who may already have some sort of condition, however unnoticeable in day to day life, or maybe they don't even know they have it or it could be a very diluted condition, whatever, cannabis is going to effect your psyche slighty (or majorly if the condition is serious) differently from someone without a condition. Now personally I think to some extent most people have at least several conditions, even if it's just something like being a chocaholic or a mildly paranoid individual, so certain people will not take cannabis very well, especially when in large amounts.
A large amount of cannabis can do some pretty sketchy stuff and I've had paranoia and anxiety attacks after a lot of weed (only when high personally) so there's a very good chance that someone more psychologically messed up than me, someone who doesn't take weed as well as me or whatever could be quite dangerously effected.

I would go with never smoking the ganja again. Lay off the caffeine, nicotine, alcohol, and any other substances too. Our bodies really aren't meant to come in contact with those substances, so it's best not to put them in us in the first place. Good luck, hope you get better.

Yeah, go sober for like 2 months, then its safe to start SLOWLY again.

Wait... it's been 17 days of hell, but you smoked 9 days ago?
...um... if you've already smoked during this "reaction", then why are you asking us if you should smoke or not? You should know the answer to that question by now!

Ive been smoking weed for a few years now. But last year I went through the exact same set of circumstances, I had to go to hospital on many occasions through panic and anxiety attacks. At the time i was smoking heavily (weed) and smoking a bit of resin aswell. for the time after this i went into a weird un nerving phase of my life where i developed mass stress, and hyperchondria. I went to hospital on many occasions believing i was having heart problems. I had bad pressure in my synus' caused by a build up of bile and I was totally and utterly convinced I had a brain problem. This sounds so stupid to most people. if you wanna talk about this pm me somehow. Im really new to this forum and Im not sure how to pm you. But I added you to my buddy list. Ive been doing a bit of reading and also saw a documentary on cannabis pycosis. It gets about 1 in 10 users and its symptoms are exactly what you and I have described however I have never been to the doctor with it. and I can tell you I am no longer going through any of the problems I mentioned before.
Hope this helps-get intouch.
