Driving Cross Country next month...
Hello-
Wow, first off I am excited to have found this website. Love all the sub sections, really hits all the angles. Alittle background about me, I am 26 y/o guy who is finally going to have Uncle Sam's vice off of my nuts for the first time in 8 yrs...I was in the Marine corp since 98' and my contract ends next month 9 Oct :D .. I am currently in San Diego about to move back east (syracuse, ny) to be closer to family etc..
I can't wait to buy my first pipe (glass) and get some good buds and head through the country (always flew, never drove) so i am excited to see some new stuff.
Basically, I wanted to know if you guys find it fun, easy to drive stoned, or harder..I think it will be a great time, as long as i keep it in moderation..Thanks for any input.

Thanks for the kind words, what is a good price to pay for a quality glass bowl? It's like getting a car you want it to be the right one ha,ha..right about now I don't care if it's a coke can...I am just happy to be able to smoke w/o any hassles.

When I was 18 I drove from Chicago to San Francisco with a buddy of mine. Along the way we stopped 2 weeks of backpacking in the Wind River Mountains of Wyoming along with a lot of other 1-2 day stops. All together it took us about a month. If you have the time I'd definitely recommend taking a while to enjoy the sights along the way.
We were stoned most of the time . It was great and made us forget about the boredom while driving through places like Iowa and Nebraska. A word of warning though, if you haven't been smoking much you may want to take it easy before smoking and driving. Smoking while high is a bit different for soemone whos been doing it for a while and someone whose basically a newb. I had stopped smoking for a few years and the first time I smoked again I got in my car and was like "WTF, this aint what I remember it was like". I'm sure you know you're limits though but just thought I'd mention it.

This reminds me of a thread I was redirected to by Yahoo's cruel site of the day, about a guy looking for a female companion to ride across the country on a bicycle with, and every single reply was, basically. to bash the guy. I'm not being NEGATIVE, it just reminded me of that because some of those replies were funny. He should've came here to post it because even those who don't understand are just in it for the laughs. And to share.

Nice story, yeah I will be by myself on this trip as well. Thinking it make my journey alittle better just don't want to end up in Canada somewhere :D I went to Google Earth(which is free, and fun) http://earth.google.com/ and trying to plan out a nice route w/o gettting out off my way too much. I will prob smoke a little feel it out, I have smoked a few times recently but nothing big..

oh yeah, I actaully do have a passenger w/ me....after me and my ex split, I kept the cat after spending so much money on her, I wanted to have her. I was never into cats before but she is actually a real mellow, cool cat.. Hopefully she won't create any problems on the trip back..

hmm, depends on the quality of glass, i would get double blown inside out piece where the colors are on the inside, those are the pretiest, and the price depends on where you get it, at a head shop i got a poor quality glass bowl for 50, but the best bowl ive ever had and that i lost last weekend wqas tripple blown inside out glass, with marbles on the sides and green and white swirls and it cost me 20, it all depends on where you get them, i would just buy a pipe at every place you see one and keep the one you like the most and sell the others:)

When you're driving through New York, make sure you drive the Northway. I'm not sure how much you know about it, but it's I-87 and it goes through the Adirondacks, up to Canada. It starts at Albany and is an extension of the Thruway (when it curves West towards Buffalo and becomes I-90).
It was named America's Most Scenic Highway in the 90's, haven't driven it, since.

but my family lives south from that, so I am sure once I hit NY I will be ready to get off the road, I don't plan on to work for at least a month when I return so I will def have to make a trip up there before the snow falls.

Good thing about ferrari has a "auto" mode which means LANCH CONTROL. For the none car lovers here this means that a computer changes the gear for you at the right revs...Also it had paddleshift...

Nice thread.
It brings back a few memories.
I was active duty Air Force and got out in 2001.
But while I was in I took a road trip from hell.
I drove from Lackland Air Force Base in San Antonio, TX to the Marine Courps station in Yuma, AZ (I forget what itâ??s called)
I watched the sun come up over New Mexico....(nice) on the way.
I went there to pick up my Marine and head to Mexico(Marines are naughty boys :) )
I took a month of leave to do some wandering and we had a great time.
You are gonna have a blastâ?¦.take picturesâ?¦.and go easy on the smoke while driving until you get used to it again.

Thanks for the insight, I am sure my music will glow in a whole new light now that I can enjoy me a good smoke. If there are any other DMB fans, Umphrey's Mcgee..and I could go on, and on...let me know. Plus I always flew everywhere I went so to actually drive from coast to coast will be fun..def go easy on the smoke. I will be in Cali for about a week after I get out so I am sure I will be smokin a little. At 26 I am sure I won't turn into this huge ass pothead (not that there is anything wrong with that) but not my style, I just love to have the luxury to smoke some good bud from time to time..

Yeah, how often have you been up the Northway?
I'd say the best times would either be to see some beautiful New York State fall foliage, in August, but I loved driving it when it's covered with snow. As long as the road was clear. The mountains look beautiful with the sun reflecting off the snow.

Thanks for the intro to that band, not bad. Like how they had some of my fav bands on their band links. Pulled some Umphrey's and acouple String Cheese Incident shows off of the net tonight for my road trip cross country. Add that with acouple puffs off of the pipe, and I will be off. I listen to all types of music, if anyone has suggestions feel free to throw it down, always open to new music.
