What's the most disturbing and/or realistic dream you ever had?

I ask because last night I just had the most realistic, and disturbing dream of my life last night, one of those ones that last all night long and seems so real and clear it feels like it really happened. Every moment was 100% clear.

so anyway, last night I dreamt that this scientist guy came on T.V. and announced that in 2 days on exactly 2:23, a meteor would hit the earth and it was so big that we could not stop it, and all life on earth would be extinguished. I spent the whole dream just preparring, making peace with everybody I knew, saying goodby to friends and family. There wasn't any chaos, and odly enough everybody still stayed in the stores they worked at, but we all knew it was coming. traffic was stopped, everybody used to roads as walkways, and you could just walk into any store and take whatever you want for free, seeing as it didnt' matter anyway.
Everybody, even enemies, was making peace with each other. some actually chose to go to sleep so they could just sleep till the end and not have to see it. others spent the last 2 days in their religious institutions. me, I just wandered the city finding everybody from my past and present, saying goodby. finally I was in the 7-11 grabbing a (free) bottle of water, when suddenly I looked at the clock and it was 2:20 on the last day! I wanted to be at home with the family, but ah well, what can you do with 3 minutes to go?
so me, one of my old classmates, and one of the people there I used to work with, grabbed hands and looked off into the mountains. We saw this bright orange glowing ball coming down from the sky, about 30 km away. when it hit at 2:23, exactly 35 seconds into the minute (I remember perfectly) it hit and this massive firey shockwave came towards us. it was weired, because at first there was apprehension, but as it got closer I was hit with sudden, total peace. then it hit me and all went blank, I was dead.
rather than waking up however, I could see this little kid one some alien world watching earth being destroyed, asking it's parent why that was happening. Hearing that it was just shitty luck, the kid said "that doesn't seem fair" and ended it just by will. Suddenly I was alive again and so was everybody else, the earth untouched after the shockwave. My first thought was actually "what kind of bullshit was that?" lol , then I woke up.

man, when I did wake up though, the first thing I did was go to the window to check for any flaming commets coming out of the sky. I have NEVER felt a dream so realisticly, disturbing as hell.
*Phew* that was actually pretty long, took a while to describe. so anyway, anybody here ever had such a dream, not necessarily apocalyptic, but just so incredibly real and important feeling that you feel like it really happened?

I have dreams where my teeth are falling out. For some reason those dreams really really disturb me.

I always dream that im with a big group of ppl and they are trying to cause havoc, usually starts somewhere else then ends up at my house(my grandms house)

That is such a classic dream. It also has a number of meanings.
You could literally be worried about your teeth, didn't you have something toothy lately - root canal, or something?
It can be a dream about self image.
Or it can be interpreted as letting go,
having no control over
or a sense of powerlessness.

Only you know what it's a metaphor for in your life.

You know how sometimes in your dreams you try to move, run, punch, jump, whatver, but you can't? Well that's because when you're like, as asleep as you can be (not sure what the official term for that is.. maybe when you're in a state of R.E.M. sleep?) you're pretty much paralised. When you're that deep asleep and you try and move quickly it feels like you can't because in real life you can't.

So your senses must still carry over to your 'dream world'. That's why I think dreams about losing teeth are less profound as you suggested, Lulu. Alot of people drool when asleep, in fact everyone does to some extent when they're deeply asleep, and that's why you wake up sometimes with a horrible taste and texture in your mouth.. I think it's this feeling that carries over to your dream, and makes some people dream about losing teeth and such.

After going out and getting stupid drunk and passing out on a sofa I had a dream in which my mouth tasted like beer and cigarettes all the way through.. lol.. I think the losing teeth thing is the same concept.

Or you could have been thinking about teeth when you went to sleep.

Dreams are so crazy. There's a lot of theories about how the come about.. and nobody really knows.

I've had a couple dreams that were pretty disturbing. In one I was walking down a long hallway that was an offwhite marble with arches along the sides. I didnt really know what it was, it looked like a huge old church or something, something elegant, and all of the sudden there was a scary ass bald guy chasing me. It was at this point I was holding a bowling pin that was sharpened into a spike at the fat end which i threw at him and it plunked through his forehead out the back of his skull, and now for the disturbing part, for some reason I went to him as he was dying and i grabbed each side of the bowling pin and just wobbled it with as much force as i could muster until i broke off the top of his skull and he was left with a U shaped head. I woke up and I wanted to vomit.

The other dream I had which was way less gross but incredibly more terrifying took place in my house, I wasn't even sure it was a dream, and am still not, although it seems the only plausible explanation. My bedroom is in the basement, and the rest of the basement is pretty shitty and dirty, but my room is on the opposite side of the basement from the stairs and the laundry room. So I wake up in my bed, and for some reason I feel terribly intoxicated, drunk/high maybe both, so I stand up and almost fall over, its like I can barely control my limbs, and the whole time I feel terrified, like someone is watching me or about to get me, and somehow I make my way to the laundry room cuz I have to get my clothes from the washer and the dryer. So I keep walking, as well as I can and I'm really wobbly, think johnny depp on ether in fear and loathing, i almost fall to the left then the right and then somehow i end up spinning in a circle and ending up on my back on the ground. Then I get up and go into the laundry room and open the dryer and almost fall over again, the whole time feeling absolutely terrified like there is somoene or something evil directly behind me but when i turn they just stay behind me, and I feel completely intoxicated. I think I made it back to my room and back into my bed, and then later on I woke up and just felt a little weird. So I'm pretty sure it was a dream, but it was creepy as fuck, it prolly sounds lame, but it was terrifying.

I used to have a recurring dream when I was younger.

I was a James Bond type charater and I am escaping from an oil rig that is expolding around me.
Im running to the lift to get out, and it opens when I get there but when it opens its a wall of water inside.
There are clearly wee fish swimming in the water. It holds for a while, like 30 secs, then it all comes gushing out onto me.
I wade through it and tget into the lift. It takes me up and onto the open base of the oil rig, where the explosions are still happening around me.

Than it kind of stops as i could never remember anything after that.

You know the worst thing when I think back, there was no sexy woman to save, just my own scrawny ass!! lol

I recognized this from hearing about it in psychology, so I found a site with some psychological explanation for this occurence which shows up in many people.

I still believe it's more physiological than psychological. :)

how so? I was under the impression that dreams were in your brain, not your body.

Well have you ever had a dream in which you tried to move your arms or legs (in your dream) but couldn't? Or thy moved really slowly? The reason you can't sometimes is because when you're deeply asleep you're pretty much paralised, and this translates to your body in your dream.

People often wake up with a horrible taste in their mouth in the morning and immediately want to brush their teeth (like most people). This is because we don't swallow when we're deeply asleep. So I think when we're asleep we can still feel that strange feeling in our mouths and it translates over to our teeth in the dream and our subconscious confuses the dream with our psychical sensations and mixes the two; hence dreams about teeth.

Hmmm... I can't explain it very well.. lol

I know that sometimes I grind my teeth in my sleep because I have woken up doing it, after one of my teeth dreams. I also beleive the other explinations as well though, they seem to fit, even the malnutrition one. (I had malnutrition for months and still get that way on and off)

haute couture is how you often see it and literally translated it means "high fashion"
I was making a number of references by using it, as I am a fashion cunt, the hotness, and also high most of the time. :p

i get dreams wer im getting drunk or high or even dropping acid, sumtimes after i wake up after "drinking" and walk around like im drunk until i realize it was just a dream and that im awake
also get dreams wer im making out with a certain girl thats a friend and never think of sexually and wen i hang out with them that weekend we might hook up and its really wierd coz its like deja vu

The most realistic dreams I have are lucid dreams, though it may just be that when I'm lucid dreaming I realize how realistic dreams are. The most recent one took place outside my middle school at recess, where I was talking to somebody I went to middle school with. After realizing that I graduated middle school many years ago, I figured out it was a dream. I then looked around me and stood in astonishment since all the hundreds of carefully-constructed human figures around me must have all been products of my fertile imagination. Every leaf on every tree, every brick in the building, every imperfection on the concrete below me was being put together instantaneously and relayed to my mind's eye so faithfully that the only way I could tell I was dreaming was because I was obviously not in middle school anymore, and I had the new ability to change anything in my environment as I pleased. After I got over the shock of that, I tried to have some lucid dream sex but woke up before I could. It was still really neat though.

I had this dream a long long long time ago: I was being chased by a bear with all kinds of animal skin for its fur (i spicificly remember zebra and sum brown furs red furs). I ran from my grandmothers house to my cousins house and the bear cornered us, i woke up saying "help us".

Not much happened,and it doesent really bother me.

I'll never forget this one dream my g/f had. It was the morning of 911. She saw what happened on TV and then told me about this dream she had that morning. She said she was pregnant and her water had broke. The the next thing she was in a cab and the taxi driver was taking her to the hospital but they could'nt make it with all the traffic. They had to pull over to the side of the road to deliver this baby. The next thing that happened was someone asked her whats the name of the baby.....She said israel.

alright...theres a HUGE bed, and every girl i have ever seen, whether it be my best friends or some girl i saw on the other end of a store in chicago...i mean EVERYONE...and they are all on this giant bed alright, and they are squirming around, like maggots on a rotten fish...they have no limbs, and they squirm around, all of em naked...and then they all look up at me (im hovering far above) and they scream...not like a "no, dont do that" scream either, but more of the scream a hawk makes thats about to get its prey...and then after the scream i always wake up, this nightmare has been haunting me for a while now, nearly every night i sleep...

sucks...
