fibromyalgia question

hi all i am 18 and i love the herb. my mom on the other hand has never tried it. she just found out about and hour ago that i smoke. and now that she knows i want to see if maybe it might be able to help her. she has fibromyalgia and i know that marijuana can help with pain and nasuea. i was wondering if anybody had any personal experiences with fm and medicinal marijuana? all advice is welcome and apreaciated. i know its wishfull thinking but maybe me and her can have some quality time toking a bowl and eating some food while watching a movie. SSSSSSWWEEET!!!

Hey Cloudy- My wife has FM- Degenerative disc- chronic and myofacial pain. We have been to soooo many doctors who send us to more doctors(because we have good insurance) with no real relief.
FM is a disease that no ONE thing will fix all ailments. The best med for her is(you guessed it) MJ.
Not only does it take away the breakthrough pain it also helps with lowering stress and relaxes the tight muscles.
She is currently dry at the moment and that is the downside. It needs to be LEGAL for people who need it for more than TV viewing....ya know?
Tell your mom to try it. It will help.

thanks. i think she might have some other things but i dont know for sure i know her neck is really bad and she has had cronic migrains for like 2-3 days at a time shes always in bed sleeping. she cant move except for when she vomits or eats and when she eats she can only hold those freezer push pops that you get for like 5 cents. and theres a ton of pills around the house. ( some of them are pretty good too.)

I hate to say it, because I would be suggesting illegal activities, but herb is great medicine for all her ailments. Did you know I had a severe case of double-vision, from a car accident, not to mention I was paralyzed after I came out of the coma.
If you saw me now, you'd have no idea. Because of the brain injury, I was able to take drugs and have no effect. Except for herb. I was released from the hospital, six months early, and less than a week later (I was released 12/22), I was smoking herb. Before that, I got drunk and felt like I was drinking with a hangover. I have been smoking weed since a week after I got rid of my wheelchair and comments have been made about how I've recovered so well. I am living proof that you can learn to walk, talk, think, be reactive, and learn with herb and weed has been a foundation to my recovery. I should delete this whole entire post. There is no possible way anyone could understand this in a forum.
I still have double-vision at the extremities of my sight, but it has never had an affect on anything, I would just turn my head and look straight enough.
I started smoking herb before my outpatient therapy. That didn't last long. I was done with that months before I was scheduled to be released from the first hospital.
I guess, that whenever someone sucks at life they're either labeled "stupid" or a "druggie". It's hard when you're both and more.

so i came home from bowling and my mom was sick again and she started throwing up. well after she got done i told her about all the info that MJ has on FM and she said she would try it this weekend with me. im so phyced (?) this is going to be great she has never done it before ill let yall know the end results later. one more question do you think it will help her the first time? b/c i know i didnt get high the first time, but we also had shit too. now i have some hawiian haze from bcbud but i dont know if there will be any left by the time she was to do it.

She'll get high. But don't get her too high, so she gets scared. Tell her that weed is a transcendental experience, rather than drug use. Usually, that hits home to Mothers. Especially, hippy Mom's. I couldn't tell you. The only time my mother told me that she smoked pot, was on the phone.

I was very, very sick, and took hard medicine for over a week. My friends came over when she was at a bar and I smoked a blunt. I sat in my living room, put my feet on the coffee table, my heart was beating so fast, my friends were in my room, I freaked out and called her at the bar. I told her I just smoked a blunt on that medicine and she said, "I've smoked before when I was taking medicine. You'll be alright." My Mom is 60, this was when I was in high school, 13-15 years ago. That blew me away. But I've never asked her to and I know it won't get me anywhere. A couple years ago, my Father told a friend and I that he had never tried weed. And he's 63.

ok now another question. what do i have her smoke out of? the choices are: a bong with or with out the bubbler attatchment, a bubbler, a steamroller, chillem(?), mini zong with or without preveously mentioned bubbler attachment, corncob pipe, or j. but the j may be to much.

Smoke a bowl. Just a normal pipe, so she can get the pure taste of herb.

I have fibro, along with lupus, and a whole host of auto-immune problems...and it's a bitch. I'm probably your mom's age or older (46), but to reiterate what Beachguy was saying, MJ is the only real "medicine" I take that works. I'm really familiar with that neck & face pain that is SO bad sometimes, all you can do is throw up.

Here's a tip for you, and it will be a lot easier on your mom's body. Have you considered cooking up something with it, so that she doesn't end up ingesting smoke? I developed a mass and some other problems in my throat (b/c of my out of control immune system) and haven't smoked in over 3 yrs. Now, I would never go back to smoking it, even if I could.

The easiest way to do this is the "Mother's Milk" recipe (no pun intended). Just mix 8 oz. of WHOLE milk and 8 oz. of bottled/purified water together into a crockpot. Then finely grind 1 tablespoon of bud (a coffee grinder is ideal for this) & add it to the mix. Let it slow cook for 3-4 hrs. (preferably on "high" if you have a choice of settings). At that point, turn off the pot, pour the mixture into a saucepan, & let it cool. When it's cool enough, strain it into a measuring cup through a piece of cheesecloth. Pour the mixture into a clean, dry ice cube tray....you'll have exactly enough to fill a standard tray. THAT'S IT! Put your tray on a level shelf in the freezer, and in a few hours, you'll have some powerful little green ice cubes. Each one constitutes a "dose", so being able to use one at a time while keeping the rest fresh frozen is extremely convenient. You can put the cube into a cup of coffee, chai tea, anything milk-based, a chocolate drink (my favorite)...so you can use it hot or cold. Just one thing - when you cook THC out of pot, it's VERY powerful, so have your mom start with just a light sip or two of this stuff. Ask her how she's feeling in 1/2 to 1 hr (it's probably best if she can eat a little something with it so it doesn't hit her like a hammer, but just creeps up).

I swear by this recipe...it's the easiest, most convenient way to take your THC orally, and most importantly, there's no waste! 1 tablespoon goes a long, long way! The worst thing your mom can do right now is start smoking anything. Using this stuff makes me functional, and every prescription drug my docs have thrown at me has failed...miserably.

MJ. but is there a difference in effectiveness for the illness between the two?

Hi Johnny - good question! I guess I wasn't clear. Remember that we're talking about 1 tablespoon of ground herb. I'm not sure how that translates into grams. I suggest you go to your local market, Williams-Sonoma, anywhere they sell cooking supplies/utensils, and pick up a set of those little measuring spoons on a ring (the tablespoon being the largest). OK - so start by grinding a couple of decent sized buds in your grinder, and scraping them out into the measuring spoon. Tap the ground bud down, and if you don't have enough, grind some more. You want to make sure you have a LEVEL tblsp. of tapped down weed in the spoon.

About your other question - the beauty of cooking with weed is that you DON'T need medicinal grade herb (although it is the best ;)) to make a potent libation or other recipe. I know people who have used shake or absolute ditchweed for this recipe, and have been very pleased with the results. Remember, ingesting the herb through your digestive system is a slightly different high, very body-oriented, no matter what kind of grass you're using. As long as you don't go overboard, it's a very effective muscle relaxant, potent analgesic, and a great immunosuppressive (fibromyalgia is ALSO an autoimmune disorder). Within 20 minutes of taking this stuff on a really bad day, the burning under my skin just stops, I can think clearly because my pain is manageable (if not gone!), the arthritis aspects of the disease wane...I know I'm going on about this, but medical studies all over the world are proving that MJ has tremendous potential for treating autoimmune diseases because of the properties I just described. It's been a lifesaver for me. And I swear to god, J - 2 sips is generally enough for me, and I'm used to it. So try it out with your mom, but DON'T let her drink something with an entire dose (ice cube) in it! She'll freak out, and not want to try it again. Give her a sip (maybe in a cold drink - Ensure is good for this), and put it back in the fridge in a closed container. I imagine even when she gets used to the stuff, one dose will last her a couple of days. P.S. I generally put 1 cube into 4 oz. (1/2 cup) of palatable drink, and stick it in the fridge. Ensure is good b/c it's non-dairy, and will keep for 2-3 days, no problem. Let me know how your experiment works out, and if your mom has any questions/fears, whatever, that I can address. wow i just got a pill from my mom to make me go to sleep and its kicking in right know. im trippin out. the key board is moving farther and farther away from mee. when i close my eyes i see a holw lotta things like Phoinex's flying around and snakes eating trees and shit. the letters are moving. ok i think im done for a little while.wow it kicked in only 15-20 min.

May I remind everyone that the recipe & tips I posted for this yutz (who I now realize has to be a minor) were for his MOM, who IS an adult, and does suffer from a painful medical condition? Too bad she'll probably never see the medicine that can best help her, b/c her son is too busy getting wasted and posting fine examples of his generation's self-absorbed worthlessness rather than helping her out.

sorry i in no way ment to give anyone that impression. i DO want to try to help my mom out but i havent had the time to make the recipe for her. and yes of course i am going to try it. but im not going to make a batch and keep it all to myself. im fine with using it the traditional way. i simple asked what you ment by 2 sips. 2 sips out of a cup with one ice cube or what. and since i have never ingested MJ i dont know the effects of it and was wondering how strong a whole ice cube would be. oh and the pill was given to me by my mom on her own free will to make go to sleep. b/c she didnt think i would enough sleep for my second job i just got. and yes i am 18.
