Does anyone out there understand how bowl construction, hole sizes, presence of a screen, or packing will change thhe amount of weed consumed?
In additon what pipes to you find to be the best value (>highness, <amount)?
What's better a big pipe or little pipe?
So many questions, hope thhis will spark some more out there... :confused: :confused: ;)
oh btw, I'm mostly talking glass pipes here, I definatly prefer glass. I own about ten pipes and I'm never satisfied with one for long...(I find i get high from a new pipe!?!).
And I usually tend towards spoons but i'd go for anything really...
K.. basically. The bigger bowl that you have, the more weed you will use, because you'll underestimated it (sort of a "well, I only smoked a bowl, I guess I can smoke more" mentality). The bigger the hole, the more smoke you will suck in, which will make it more harsh on the lungs. I'd recommend a smaller hole, for this reason. The presence of a screen won't really change the amount of weed consumed. The harder you pack, the more weed that you will use. You don't want to pack too hard, because it'll be hard to hit, but you don't want to pack too lightly either, because it'll burn too fast.Quote:

I'd recommend trying to find a pretty small pipe with a bigass bowl if you'd have to worry about hiding it, and a larger pipe with a longer stem if you're not worried about hiding it. I hope that answered your questions, let me know if you have anymore.

i got a little slider and it hits like a mother...but then it is a custom blown glass on glass...but sliders hit nice

yes i take into consideration like everything you named when i buy a pipe. i'm picky too....
bowl size - no bigger around then a penny becasue that's enough of a bowl to be more than a 1 or 2 hitter but it doesn't take a gram or so to pack a bowl, good for those last stash bowls
hole sizes - the mouth peice hole i prefer to be smaller than the hole at the bottom of the bowl as that allows thicker smoke to build up inside the pipe, thus, imo giving better hits
carb hole - as big as possible while not being ridiculous big...if i could i'd get one with width of a bic pen as it'd allow more air in, thus giving you a quicker 'shot' of smoke.
depth - should be longer then the bowl is wide, as skinner, deeper bowls burn less material then wider, shallow bowls, but at the same time should be no more than 1.5 times the length of the width of the bowl.
thicknes of glass/metal - simple the thicker the glass/metal the less likely heat is to travel to the mouth peice
screen - unless smoking shake (atleast out of a pipe, always use a screen on a bong) i do not use a screen....i prefer to have tid bits of good weed fall down in my pipe to be resonated to be scraped later on for further consumption
big to little pipes - 3 or less people little pipes, as there's no reason to break out some huge bowl'd fucker for 3 people when it just 'wastefully' burns weed (more cherry more burn between passes and holds of hits) any higher and it's time to break out the big guns, as by the time it comes back to you, you'll have already blown out your hits eliminating useless relighting and is just easier then having to relaod after every round or two.

there is only 3 basic rules to pipe efficiency
-Air Tight
-Two holes [one for suction + one for mixture]
-Mixture Should NOT Fall Out when used correctly
I may own 10 pipes but I've never been able to really make a good rule of thumb for whats the best...observation is not one of my strong points ;)
id suggest just getting a pipe that hits good and holds a decent amount of weed...the amount of weed it holds, or the bowl size is up to u

i pay 20 for schwagg, 40 for good stuff; i have found it for 25 a 1/4 once.
damn...ive smoked the stuff he pays 40 an 1/8 and its good, but its not worth the money, i live in nebraska, and 40 an 1/8 ud get kb
here where i live a good 1/8 is about 25$ canadian and 50$ for 1/4
