HARD ON'S NEW PROJECT

I just love fucking with these things.

I got 3 blueberries I pulled from the original 21 sprouts.

I am not sure what I am gonna do with these....I will will prolly LST them and try that...but I have no experience in that at all....

But I post this cuz I am gonna do something other than just grow a plant :)

Anyhow, here are the pics...they are slow growing compared to the flowering ones...and one is very special...

She has 3 heads :eek: The main kola just never grew. This was the retarded one early on...but now I have taken a liking to her.

Her name shall be Deuche Bag. :)

We'll have some fun on this once I figure out what I wanna do to them :)

Confused a little. Blueberry is a species, isn't it? So why wouldn't all 21 shoots (I presume clones) have been blueberry too. And by the way I hate to break this to you but Deuche Bag is a high altitude Monrovian Lettuce. tks. for Steganos. :)

I'd be glad to give any LST tips HD.... i've LST'd all my plants until now.. my next round will be 3-4 non lst'd plants

Hard to see why anyone that was going to grow plants to maturity wouldn't LST. I did it with one that I was pushing along and wish I'd done it with the others also as the secondary growth is unreal (for using cfl's anyway). Whereas I probably would've had just the main cola really going to town right now, I've got 26 different shoots right there growing giant monster resinous buds! Well...maybe not monsters but good bud sites non the less and they're right up in the lights instead of buried down below. It for sure works.

Hey I had a retard too she drying right now but it was the same no main cola but 3 heads! My retard had the best growth of all my plants and to think I was considering trashing it because of slow growth and deformation!

HD I tied Amanda down on Day 25 from when she came out of the ground. Didn't go nuts though as they say to bend it some then more and more till it's over as far as it needs to be so the lights can really get to the secondaries. Within a few days the secondaries from the side that were furthest away from the lights had bent around the main stem and were growing towards the lights. Cool. I also used a piece of heavier coated copper wire to make a hook that I put around the very base of the main stalk right at soil level and then hooked the other end onto the side of the container. What this does is hold the stalk as if you start pulling the top over to one side it wants to pull the stalk through the dirt sideways. Here's a quick pic to show you what I mean although you probably already do.

WHAT IS Less Stree Training (LST)?
Low Stress Training (LST) simply involves tying the plantâ??s main leader down, so it is more or less parallel to the ground. This allows the side shoots to develop into leaders, which eventually become colas. The result is a bushy plant with multiple colas. The more shoots you tie down, the bushier the plant becomes.

LST is an alternative to topping your plant and more advanced topping techniques like FIM. While topping a plant will split the leader into two new shoots (and FIMming can produce even more), some growers notice that their plants seem to stall out for a few days after being topped or FIMmed, while plants that are trained with LST donâ??t seem to slow down at all. This is a hotly debated topic, and the purpose of this FAQ is not to take sides. All I really want to do here is show how LST is done. All growers should experiment with a variety of propagation techniques to see what works best for them.

I plant my seeds in the corners of square pots and wait until they are about 2 weeks old before I start tying them over. By two weeks they generally have 3 or 4 nodes and the stems are thick enough to be pulled over without collapsing or breaking. The first two pictures are a ten-day-old ThaiTanic growing in an unferted mixture of Canadian spagnum peat, perlite, worm castings and dolomite lime. The third is month-old White Rhino.

There are many different ways to tie a plant, and thereâ??s no â??rightâ?� way to do it. When I first got interested in LST, I developed a technique involving a rubber band and some nylon string. All you do is run a thick rubber band around the rim of the pot, tie the plantâ??s leader with the string, then tuck the other end of the string under the rubber band and pull the plant over. As the plant grows you have to retie it periodically to keep the main leader down, but you can easily make adjustments with just a little tug on the other end of the string.

OG member Intrinsic modified the rubber band technique to suit his growing style. Instead of tying the plant, he takes a longer string and loops it around the leader once, then puts both string ends under the rubber band. This saves tying and re-tying the string as the plant grows, and heâ??s had some impressive grows under flouros exclusively doing it this way.

The flouro part is important, because you need a dense, even canopy when youâ??re trying to flower under fluorescent lighting. LST makes that possible, because you can tie down as many new leaders as you want. You can produce plants that look like theyâ??ve been scrogged if you really get into it.

Personally, I usually just go with one tie-down, keeping it in place until flowering begins. When you pull the strings and â??let â??er go,â?� be sure to untie the string(s) from the plant. If you donâ??t, the plant will grow around them (like a tree grows around a strand of barbed wire), and it will weaken it. That raises the question: How long can I train my plant? You can continue training it for its entire life if you like, but in most cases, there's not much point in continuing once your main colas have been identified.

When the main leader is pulled over, my plants develop between 5 and 8 main colas, which is bushy enough for a 4-plant grow in a 3x3 space under a 400 watt hps. Once your colas are established, itâ??s up to your skills as a grower to make them as fat as possible.

I think LST is whatever you make it HD. You can pull it over so it's horizontal or not. I just read another article on it and they were suggesting that it's a really good technique for people using fluorescents as it takes care (to a degree) of the problem of light penetration to the secondary growth shoots. Basically all of them turn into main colas.

I didn't get that radical with the plant I LST'd. Just pulled it over to the point I could get the CFL's right down next to the new secondary growth with daylight spectrum's and basically 'pulled' the secondaries up as they reached for the light. It worked but I can see where if I had tied it over more horizontal it would've worked better, although it seems to have worked pretty good as it was. I'll take some pics when I pull it out to water it in the next day or so.

Here's a pic of one that was really tied over. You can see how the secondary shoots are all growing up with nothing growing on the bottom side.

Hey guys, LST is a great way to control the yield and size of your plant.
Instead of one large main cola and a number of smaller ones.. you get a more "sea of green" idea where the secondary growth grows about the same size as the main cola... sometimes larger.

Here are some examples of some LST'd plants.

Only proving that topping is not the only way to promote the secondary growth :)

it's a good idea to let the plant stretch a tiny bit before starting the LST.

this can be done by simply placing the lights further away.

And are you using just cfl's?

And if so how many and what wattage?

Reason I ask is because I'm using just fluorescents but mostly cfl's with a 2 footer and a 4 footer thrown in there too just cause I like light!! Have 10 lights in there right now.
