How long before a seedling comes through the surface of the soil?
With a quality seed it should be about 1-3 days. I had seeds go from seed to 2 inch sprout in 4 days
Thanks for answering, sawleaf. I hope I didn't fuck anything up because I put 8 seedlings in soil yesterday and nothing so far. Put 8 more in today, too. I keep checking on them...maybe it's true that a watched pot doesn't boil.
seeds or seedlings?
If you soaked the seeds and planted them once they cracked open then it should just take a couple of days, but I'd wait up to a week before tossing it.
Seedlings. Yes, I soaked them and they cracked with a little white sprout. I'll give it a week...it's only been about 36 hours for the first batch and I just planted the second batch this morning. I guess I'm freaking prematurely. They're Reeferman seeds from Marc Emery. Thanks, guys.
got 2 new seedling popped up in pots with discarded seeds in,, they have got 2 leaves'' never grown one from seed..what should I do with it bring them indoors or leave them be..what do u think
Do you have grow lights, duppy man? If you do, I'd bring them in (then again, I'm a newbie at this). I think it's always safer to have them inside.
I have x2 400wt HPS with reflectors I just thought it maybe a bit intense,,, its been warm here the last few days in the UK reaching 32 % + in my garden going down to 16% during the night
Maryjanemama, how deep did you plant the seedlings?
I stuck my finger in the soil and made a hole. Then, I put the seedling in...about an inch deep, I'd say.
Hopefully it will be sprouting soon!
Three of my babies popped through this morning!! Yay! I'm so excited! Thanks, sawleaf, for calming me down...I'm a little neurotic sometimes.
congratulations maryjane your a plant mama keep us posted on how they're doing..I've been bringing my two little ones in at night and leaving them out during the day.. they look really healthy,,,
Ok, 3 new babies this morning, yesterday's are almost an inch long already! Now my problem is that it is raining outside, so I brought my plants in. But my lights aren't set up, yet! Ahhhh. I could possibly have them up tonight (if my husband gets his ass off the couch long enought to help me). Does anyone think that it will be a problem if they don't get any light until later on tonight? I could jack something up, but I'd have to leave the lights on the floor and I don't want to burn the house down.
Yeah that will definately be a problem. You need to get a good light source on them while they are small or they will start stratching for light and you'll have to prop them up.
:) Thanks, sawleaf, because I was just going to wait until after dinner to try and get the lights up and that wouldv'e been too late. I half-assed put my lights together and I have them on. One more baby is out now, so seven out of sixteen are above soil. I put them closest to the light and I'll check on them every hour to make sure they're OK, I don't want them to get burned. If I only get 7 out of 16 to come up, I guess that'll be alright, but I was hoping for all of them to come out because I won't know how many females I have for a while. Everything got set up at 1 and I usually put them out in the sun around 9:30, so I'm only 3 1/2 hours behind. Tonight my husband will help me put the lights up (the way they're supposed to be) and I'll keep them indoors from then on. Thanks again!
All 16 little babies are up. I talk to them everyday, even coo at them like real babies. I tell them what beautiful girls they are...what every girl wants to hear! Some of the earliest ones are up almost 2 inches. I'm just hoping that they stay healthy and that I don't make any mistakes. I'm taking Marc Emery's advice on how to get the most females and I hope it works!
