I was looking on ding and bat earlier today to see the progress of their preflowers...when i noticed they kinda look familiar to new leaf growth :confused: im a lil stumped myself and was wondering if anyone here could point out wheather or not this a preflower or new leaf growth i have only one decent pic as my cam cant take high def pics up close...may fiddle round with it later..anywho heres the pic and tell me what you think!
not positive on just what it is .its in the right place .give it a couple of days and you will know for sure.what kind of plant how old ect. might be helpful.
the strain in the pic is a ak-48 and is in aprox week 7-8 weeks in veg and is also aprox 2' 5" to 3' tall hope this helps!

to tell the truth once my glasses got cleaned id have to agree.its as preflower as preflower can be.
it's a very early preflower, but based on the last several female and male plants i've grown. i've noticed this to be very typical of female preflower.Quote:

don't be fooled...males have clusters of balls.. they're easy to spot... if it's a male, you'll know.

I wouldn't go so far as to proclaim them female...yet.
Until you see the whispering 2 hairs, it still could be simple new veg growth....a male part, or one of those sticky things that look like spikes.
Your plants are still showing same node spacing so without alternating nodes, your immature plant would be showing sex awfully early. Not unheard of at all...just rare :)
But....I noticed on the 24th you were excited about the same event.
Is this the same plant?
It does not take 4 or 5 days for a pod to expose herself to you. It happens overnight.
I am not saying this is not a pre-flower and I am not saying it isn't female.
But...based upon the picture you provided, the results are inconclusive at best and wishful thinking.
IT may well be the DING or BAT of the equation....but you MUST see the hairs protrude from the pod......otherwise, it cannot be confirmed.
Hairs are confirmation. Undefined growths in the general area are not.
Just look for two whispy white thin hairs. Most cameras cannot take the pics of them as they are so very fine. Once they swell and fatten up Ray Charles could see them :)

Thanks for the help i think im a bit whishful thinking! ill keep a close eye on them and will tell you as soon as i have conformation on wheather she is a he or what...i got me fingers crossed!
After much research on the pics provided on OG and comparing them to both Dign and Bat there is a slight possibility that Ding..my ak-48 is leaning more on the male aide but im am uncertain yet...and as for bat the early bud may be femelae as well...they both started to produce 'preflowers' roughly about a day or two apart...Ding being the first...but who knows...time will tell
After 3 weeks, its pretty much set so all you want to do now is be a good daddy and the Good Lord shall delivereth to you what He has decided you should smoke :)

There is still nothing but speculative growth.
One day it looks male, next day female...
ON and on.
When its time to know then you shall know.
It does appear as though sometghing is growing and it does indeed look male....BUT....this is still inconclusive.
Just keep posting updates and when something shows definitive, you'll know. Until then keep your fingers crossed becasue there is nothing for sure yet.

Looks like a male to me. I just had one go that way and it's exactly how it looked before it really showed it's true colors. Lots of balls. Also looks like you've got a little magnesium deficiency.
hmmm not really what i had in mind i guess...males will grow balls in clusters.. especially in the growing top... it's possible it's still to early... when you're looking this early it's very hard to tell..Quote:

I know this is maybe on average, but on two of my plants the female came out the same time as the male. Maybe because of different strains?
Did you have them on 12/12? I'm talking about preflowers in veg. not in flower. If you grow a male and a female in 18/6 until preflowering.. the male will preflower well before the female. PREflowering.. is the stage before "Flowering"...12/12 just forces this onto the plant. If you have them both in 12/12 then they'll obviously.. both flower at the same time.Quote:

my are still in veg...im going for maxium height...which my growroom is approx 7' at its highest point sice the ceiling is on a slant(walk in closet) i think my are PREflowering as you said bobbong but i havnt put mine in 12/12...i think i'll let them grow for another month or 2 so i can get a higher yield if its possible...i've alrdeady 8 possible bud sites but really hard to say what the sex is at the moment
In this case Ze, you will know probably for sure what the sex of the plant is before you actually put it into 12/12. 12/12 only forces the flowering when the plant isn't developed enough to flower on its own. If you veg a plant for long enough, it will start to flower eventually.. on its own.
The reason i say you'll probably know the sex of the plant before you put her in 12/12 is because if it IS male.. then in the next 2 weeks you will see clusters of balls forming. If there's no clusters...it's a girl
there is only 2-4 preflowers now on each node there are no clusters yet just one on each side of the main stem so im stil optimistic of ding being a female...i'll keep you posted as time goes on:D
hey people...im afraid im the bearer of bad news! Ding is a MALE!! :eek: :( man this is such a bummer jus taking close look right a the growing top and what do i see....cluseter of three preflower bunched up on each side of the main stem...jus to clarify this ive included a pic of em so you can see for yourself and clarify the sex...so much for the bet! :rolleyes:
I dunno what to do with myself....my first grow and all be a shame to see Ding go...an empty place...i'd feel so lonely lol is there actually anything you can do with males other than for breeding purposes...if possible and if anyone would like the pollen from Ding (ak-48) id be happy to hang on to him and get ding to flower for your cross-breeding porposes!

ooo i just remembered i had 4 plants altogether..ive been lloking after them but not as much as Ding and bat!!! ive put my next strongest plant into a bubbler...looks like a dwarf compared to her hopefully big sis Bat!! she suffered a lil nute burn a few weeks back but she is started to growing again rather slowly and speeding up! i'll av few pics of the new girl later on....I still dunno what tdo with Ding... i wldnt feel right killing! lol

Im reli confused about ding lately...theres only a clusters of balls at the growing top but looking further down on the plant ive only noticed like single pods and all what appers to be like really fine leaves! sooo very puzzling but im also not she if Ding is completely a HE but a hermie!? just be safe i've brung ding outta ma grow room and into my room for the time being until i figure out what to do with this puzzling plant! d the hairs on a female preflower stay inside the pod until its introduced into 12/12 or will they come out over time??

it could be a he/she , could be just male.. either way, those nuts are obvious.
i'll keep a hold of ding anyway if its a he/she...prob wont be a high grade smoke either...i have my doubts about Bat as well as its showing the same kinda signs as Ding...man i wont be too happy with TWO males! :(

I give my male plants to my kitty he loves the greenery. Doesn't get him high at all just helps with his psycological need to eat foilage and hes an indoor cat. Plus im perfectly happy growing a plant from a baby to give to my kitty lol:thumbsup:
