Mand's low tech set up...........
Please guys don't take offence at this thread it's only a bit of fun and I thought after reading all about you're set up's I'd just show you mine :)
For me it has to be simple and cheap.............Simple because I'm quite a simple girl really and anything too high tech and I just get it wraped around my neck, so to speak. Cheap, well thats because ................no I'm not going to say that ;) .......it's because I have to watch the pennies :)
So here's a few photo's of my set up................there's my lamp my ballast transformer thingy, my watering can, my compost heap and my plants.
I'll post two more on a seperate post if that's ok :)

Mand's low tech set up...........
I wish it was that easy to grow so easy...great thread Mand...shows the newb's, you don't have to spend a fortune...I don'r remember, are you outside oor indoor patio...
I ask, because you are beside a brick wall...nice job...comeback
-
Mand's low tech set up...........
Hello Marc :) .........you've been reading my threads :o
I'm sure we would be fine, watching the plants grow, saying "Oh dear, does this one look a bit off to you marc"............."oh I don't like these yellow leaves mand, best post and ask the guys" :) .
Hello Latewood :) ................The growroom is a brick built out buliding, about a little over 6 feet by 6 feet. I was going to move them to a larger one down the garden and my son painted it all out with white paint, but we later found the electrics are no good :( .......hopefully I'll get that up and running some time.
If you look at the photo of the watering can theres a blanket fastened up at the door, thats there for two reasons..............one it gets cool in there in Winter so it keeps the heat in a little.................two it stops the light shinning through any gaps in the door at night and atracting any passing police helicopters ;) In the daytime it's no problem if to hot, I just open the door a little to let ventilation in.
Those are my growing methods, I usually do quite well, well plenty for me anyway :) ....but having looked at some of the pics on this site I've noticed that my buds tend to be on the small side.
The present crop their still small but there seems to be plenty spread around and there getting really quite sticky, mind you they've still got a few more weeks to go yet.

Looking good Mand! Oh, and the plants too.
You make it tempting for a guy to take a hop across the pond for a little visit. I'm out here in SoCal USA and the heat is terrible.
Keep on postin'

Wow great grow mand I like the fact that ur setup is cheap, ur buds are coming along nicely :) Just goes to show a little bit of love and a cheap light is all u really need
-
Mand's low tech set up...........
Max :) a strong light to iron out the wrinkles and a bit of lippy works wonders love, you haven't seen me when I drag myself out of bed in the morning :o
I know what you mean about heat, I really hate hot weather, give me a frosty crisp winters day anytime. Mind you where you are isn't it hot all year round, must be ok for outdoor growing, I have done one crop outdoors here, my first but we have a very short season and limited on what varities will grow with decentish results, much better indoors ;)
Rasta :) I'm having a dry spell here at the moment, my own fault though the last crop just failed and died on me. Anyway I tried everything and I put a thread on here asking how often bulbs should be replaced. The guys said quite regularly 3-4 crops or 2 years at the most, you know I'd been using the same bulbs for getting on for 6 years :o
Problems solved now though and everything is back to normal :)
I'm pleased with how their coming along, they don't match up to some of the pics I've seen on here though but I'm still happy with them :)

Hey Mand,
Beguiling in all ways.
Meanwhile in my quest now to find info on how stumblebum newbs go about squeezin a mom and her clones into small spaces....
I recalled your other thread pics where your plant looked close to flowering and that they looked less than 3' (91cm) tall.
If true was wondering if you had - beyond noted claims of simplicity, done much in the way of pruning or screening with them to keep them that compact and adorable, excuse me, sexy, wait, I mean delicious lookin'? Yeah okay. Delicious works.

Mand's low tech set up...........
Hello DaBuh I really don't know the soonest, I like to go for plants that end up about a metre high, I find that any taller doesnt really yeild me anymore buds in my set up. So I tend to pinch my plants when they look right at about less than half a mete high and then start inducing around 4-5 days later.
Thats my soonest, I have grown taller ones but like I said the yeild wasn't really anymore.
.................................................. ...............
Hello Rezinator :) I posted the above yesterday on another thread so I've copied and pasted it here. I think it basically answers you're question ;)
Thats the way I've always done it...........However the next grow I'm going to try a little experiment
I'm going to be growing Skunk#1 (sensi seeds), instead of using a whole pack of sixteen I'm going to gernimate 10, out of that I should get between 5-7 females (hopefully) which will give me more room.
I'm planning on pinching at around the 5th node and then letting the two main branches grow on in vegitive growing.
When the two main branches get to their 3rd or 4th node I'm going to pinch again, leave for about 5 days and then start inducing.
In theory this should give each plant 4 main stems and increase the yeild with the main heads :)
Thats the theory, I have no idea what will happen, and to be honest my plans uaually go "arse over tit" and fall flat on there face anyway :o but I'm going to give it a bash ;)
Oh by the way "Delicious" works fine, this old gal is always gratefull of any complements :)

Mand's low tech set up...........
have you tried SCROG? it might help......
order yourself a little hollands hope, or big bud... see if you can get them to yeild
-
Mand's low tech set up...........
Hello High :) I've considered Big Bud before, to be honest I was actually thinking of that for a summer grow, my growroom gets a little cool in winter so I have gone for Skunk #1 because I know that will be ok in there, grown it quite a few times before with decent results :)
I am quite pleased with this one so far, I don't really keep track of when induced and that sort of thing I just go by how they look, I'll guess the present ones have another 4-5 weeks to go............if I can wait that long :o I think it's looking at some of the grows on this site that make me realise mine are a bit small, but to be honest there ok for me and my methods are within my capabilities, anything more technical and I'm sure I'd make a mess of it.
If it's ok I'll just add a couple more pics taken today.............last one's for a while ................promise :)
Oh and again exscuse the close up's, the camera just blurs them.

Mand's low tech set up...........
Hi Mand!
Your plants are lookin' 10-8 sweet! But it's gotta be getting late for you. You need a bit of sooty no doubt! (My attempt as some cockney there) But seriously, they do look great. Have you ever thought of putting some reflective materials up to help direct some of that light back to the plants that those bricks are absorbing?
Marc
-
Mand's low tech set up...........
Hello marc :) .......sooty? totally lost me there love............but it's the thought that counts :) :)
Well I was going to move them a while ago and got one of my sons to paint out a new bigger growroom for me, he was at it for hours painting it all white so as to reflect the light and then we found out that the electrics didn't work :(
So untill thats re wired they've got to stay put.
I wish I could take some better photo's but the camera just not do close up's at all they just go blurry..................never mind ;)
nice to hear from you marc.........love mand xxx :)

Sooty is 'sleep'. I said that because you're like 12 hours or something later than us there in merry ol' England. Thought it was your bedtime!

Thats a new one on me marc :) .............it's only just gone Tea time at the moment...............now I've talked with a few from the US so let me see if I've got this right....................you're East coast is 5 hours behind us and you're West coast is 8 hours behind us, I think it was that anyway :)
You see I'm also a wealth of useless imformation ;)
I don't know about "merry" it's getting a really miserable place and the weathers been horrible all day, never stopped raining :(

Looking good - plants & yourself mand ;)
How long are your girls into flowering?
Really nice to see UK growers as I haven't seen many on here - esp ladies. Whereabouts are you in the UK? I'd guess somewhere above London from the way you said tea time - think that's quite a Northern thing but I may be wrong ;)
Keep posting pics & keep growing well :D
-
Mand's low tech set up...........
Thankyou G, nice of you to say so :)
How long have they been flowering ?...........well I don't really keep track of dates, I just tend to go on how they look but I've had a look at my previous threads/post and I think it's around 3-4 weeks. I'm guessing at prehaps another 4-6 weeks before I harvest the first one.
I think that I have a tendancy to harvest too soon, so this time I'm going to try and leave them a little longer than I usally do :)
You're right when you say that there's not many women who grow, I've met plenty who smoke but never met another that grows :( That actually made me a little nervous about posting on here but I had to start because I really needed help with my bulbs. It's just that I thought to myself one day why should I keep buying when I can grow it myself so I had one attempt to germinate some seeds I ordered out of a magazine and all failed to germinate.
After that I bought a little book on how to grow, bought some outdoor sensi seeds from local market stall, and grew a sucsesfull outdoor crop.
That made me very nervous though because of the police helicopter.
So I bought a growlamp and moved indoors. That was about 6 years ago now ;)
I'm from the Midlands love, where dinner time is at dinner time and tea time is were it's susposed to be ;) common as muck we are round here you know :)
bye for now G .............love mand xxx :)

Mand's low tech set up...........
I've read more growing reports from females lately on this site and others. I think it is becoming more popular. Certainly that is a good thing :) I like your simple setup.
-
Mand's low tech set up...........
I think leaving them a lil longer is the way to go looking at harddon's results. But I can imagine you can't wait to harvest once flowering progresses :D
My 1st germination attempt also failed. I tried again & only one sprouted. I'm using this grow as a bit of an experiment to make things better for my next grow.
I get very scared of those police choppers too - they fly over my house, sometimes circling, prob once or twice a week - paranoia sets in
I lived in Rushden for over a year, but now back in my home of London. BTW, for me lunch is lunch (12-3ish), dinner is the evening meal you have, & tea is something you drink :D
Oh yeah, what sort of results did you get in your previous grows?
-
Mand's low tech set up...........
Hello Lemonboy :) thats good, well to be honest if I can grow then anyone can grow, and thats the truth :)
What I've found is that most girls/women who smoke weed, will usually have a husband or boyfriend that maybe does the growing or he will buy it. In my case I ethier have to go out and buy it or grow it myself, and theres no chance of me buying it when I can grow myself.
Hello Ganjamania :) the previous grows have been fine except the last one, my bulbs were just too old and worn out. The plants started ok and after a while they just gave up and died very quickly.
I usually do two grows a year, prehaps 3 sometimes when the third grow is staggered into the next year.
I can't complain about any of the previous grows though, I really can't tell you how much in weight, but I'll be sure to post some pics of the final results of this one.
I must admit though the waiting game is difficult with this crop because of my last crop failing I've been dry here for quite a while :( .
Little confession now :o .............just before the lights went off at 6pm this evening I went in to check how they were doing and I spotted a couple of small but very nice looking little buds, I couldn't resist taking them and now I'm gently force drying them, hopefully ready for this weekend ;)
Well one of my sons is off on his holidays to Ibiza tommorow and my other son is staying at his girlfriends whilst her parents are on holiday (he claims there housesitting  ) and my daughter is going to her partners parents house for the weekend.
I've got the place all to myself for the weekend, and now prehaps enough for 3-4 spiffys as well :)
If any family ring me then I'm not in ;)

Mand's low tech set up...........
Hello Star and B :) it's really kind of you both to say such nice words.............Thankyou :)
Affraid I've been struggling to find time this last few days to come on line but I've just put a little update on my present grow thread and I copied a post I did the other day to answer you're question B :) .....................
Hello B , On my first ever attempt the seeds failed to germinate, I had sent off for them from an advert in a magazine. Not one of them sprouted .
On my second grow I grew outdoors and everything went fine, I grew a few mexican stavia and some rudrails/indica both were from sensi seeds.
To say we only have a shortish growing season and not a deal of sunshine (we didn't that year) over here they grew pretty well
In 1998 I bought the lamp for indoor growing and since then I have grown 2 or 3 crops a year. I did have a crop fail a while ago because the light bulbs were just worn out with age ..................http://boards.cannabis.com/showthread.php?t=22341
So I've probably grown somewhere around 17+/- indoor crops over the last 7 years.

Thankyou ...................love mand xxx :)

Your a champ. Where do you get ur seeds from? did you ever grow white widow?
-
Mand's low tech set up...........
Hello B :) I always use Sensi seeds..................
http://www.sensiseeds.com/ml/shop.asp?MainLev=3
I buy them off a stall at the local Sunday market, the guy who sells them knows me quite well now ;) and I know that his seeds are always fresh.
I have never grown White widow................yet ;) My usual is Skunk#1, but I have grown Sensi skunk, Mexican stavia, Rudderails x Indica, Afghani, Northern lights, Super skunk and a few more that I have had given me of unknown variety :)
Maybe next summer I'll consider something different but during this winter I'll stick with the Skunk#1, a very good growing and a hardy plant which does produce a quite potent little bud ;)
