How Much Does Bongwater Really Filter Out? In my estimation, smoking weed, in terms of actual smoke damage to the lungs, is as dangerous as smoking an unfiltered cigarette. In your estimation, how much do you think pulling the smoke thru water decreases it's toxicity?
I've never read a scientific study regarding this, but I would imagine that the water, while not filtering out THC, might take some junk out, but the unglamorous truth is that no matter how much water you run it through, you're going to pay for it sooner or later with either diminished lung capacity or even, god forbid, lung cancer of the big E.
Just a guess: bongwater probably sucks 25% of the by-products of combustion out. Either way, you're still setting a plant on fire and sucking the smoke into your body! :)

The fact is, smoking weed causes some damage to the lung, but not the kind of deep lung damage that causes emphysema.
Second, weed doesn't have as many cancer causing chemicals, even before all the additives in cigarettes.
Finally, not a single death has been related to weed alone (i.e. no cigs), cancer or otherwise.
With that in mind, a bong hit only makes the hit go down easier... the harm-reducing is negligible in respect to %THC inhaled.
i would rather live 3 years high everyday, than live 20 more never gettin high... live your life as if tommorrow won't come and you will be ok...
(100% true story)a good friend of mine smoked for 30 years (marlboro red) and he was diagnosed with lung cancer around the time we started hanging out... also he stopped smokin cigs, started eating healthy, talkin to more ladies, and even his parents... and i got him high all the time... eventually after a few years, about 3, it spread from one side to the other, and he got really ill... and i would have make weed cakes and brownies, and thc butter for him... he would still hang out and chill. and you could tell he was happier and more relaxed than when i first met him before the cancer... well one day driving to the hospital for some treatment or test, he was hit by an 18wheeler and killed... You cannot plan life, live to be content, follow your heart... this man used to tell me how he got high in high school but society told him it was wrong so he switched to cigs just to have something to smoke... and for years he dreamt about getting high, and had alot of internal struggles over it... it wasn't until he was diagnosed with cancer that he finally lived like he wanted to... In my eyes, cancer saved his life....

Yeah. I'm a smoker, and I've just fallen off the wagon the last few days. Haven't had a Camel in a while. I wanna quit, and stop smoking weed, too, but eating it in food gives me a shitty high!

the reason i like bongs so much is because it makes the hits really cool in my lungs. i dont really care about the filteration.

bongs filter out the some shit but not thc...thc is not water soluible so it is not broken down in the water...the only thing that would effect thc is certian kinds of alcohol

I don't care what the studies say about percentage of THC removed. Bong hits get me ripped, and nothing can change that. The reason I use them is not to filter out chemicals but to cool down the smoke so I can take in nice big hits.
If you're really concerned about the damage from smoking try using a vaporizer. With a vaporizer there's no smoke so supposedly no tar. Plus, unlike a bong, none of the THC gets filtered out. To me it seems that I get a lot higher with less weed when I use a vaporizer. And, there's no smoke to smell so it's stealthy.
i second that, ive got a top quality vaporizer and they get you proper stoned, while using only a fraction of the skunk weed, and its better for your lungs (although how much better is open to debate)

Really? I didn't get that in the least. The jist seemed to be that smoking cigarettes, which was more socially acceptable than weed, gave him cancer. He wanted to smoke something, so he smoked cigarettes instead of pot. That, friends, is what I call fucking stupid.
