how do you defend weed when it comes to long term effects??????
i pasted some info below of facts from a site... how the hell can i defend weed when this shits thrown at me?? http://www.brown.edu/Student_Service.../marijuana.htm
Are there long-term consequences to smoking marijuana?
Respiratory problems
Someone who smokes marijuana regularly can have many of the same respiratory problems as cigarette smokers. Persistent coughing, symptoms of bronchitis and more frequent chest colds are possible symptoms. There are over 400 chemicals that have been found in marijuana smoke. Benzyprene, a known human carcinogen, is present in marijuana smoke. Regardless of the THC content, the amount of tar inhaled by marijuana smokers and the level of carbon monoxide are 3 to 5 times higher than in cigarette smoke. This is most likely due to inhaling marijuana more deeply, holding the smoke in the lungs and because marijuana smoke is unfiltered.
Memory and learning
Recent research shows that regular marijuana use compromises the ability to learn and to remember information by impairing the ability to focus, sustain, and shift attention. One study also found that long-term use reduces the ability to organize and integrate complex information.
In addition, marijuana impairs short-term memory and decreases motivation to accomplish tasks, even after the high is over. In one study, even small doses impaired the ability to recall words from a list seen 20 minutes earlier.

this is how:
Why do people use marijuana?
Smoking marijuana can relax a person and elevate their mood. This can be followed by drowsiness and sedation. Other effects include heightened sensory awareness, euphoria, altered perceptions and feeling hungry ("the munchies"). High concentrations of THC may produce a more hallucinogenic response.
you should of been aware of this before you started using the drug. i'm not a marijuana junkie at all, a.k.a. pothead. i do love smoking it, but i know it's effects on my health and i'm not willing to risk my brain for some pot. perhaps when i'm older and more knowledgable my use of it will increase, but for the time being i have a lot to learn. smoke it sparingly...it's great for a break from your head.

how do you defend weed when it comes to long term effects??????
its not me who cares about its long term effects, its people like my sister or parents. i myself dont do it that much, but i know i eventually will. though, i did think that weed doesnt cause any permanant damage but i dont know which set of research to beleive!
most people always say oh give this link to ur parents it say says how weed is harmless.... well that shit is useless when they have 100s of links to sites that say weed causes terrible long term damage......

to be honest with you, the only thing that worries me is the fact that it does impair my ability to learn.
-
how do you defend weed when it comes to long term effects??????
ya well... school isnt that hard if you do what you have to do and know what you have to do... ya know? i mean.... homework you do at home and whether u are retarded or really smart theres no excuse why not to ace it. for tests and quizes all ya have to do is practice and cram. if you do those things then the only problem can be if you are too lazy.
-
how do you defend weed when it comes to long term effects??????
the real prob for me is that yesturday i got caught for the second time, already posted (though sadly nobody really cares), and now i have the suuper difficult task of convincing my dad weed is ok.
but, now i see all the proven and researched shit he finds and shows me, wtf can i possibly do? i posted the link above which is a example of what he shows me, and he has all the right to not like weed cuz of all the info out there. one thing that i have been depressingly doing is starting to believe that weed is actually reeeeeeally bad for your brain and isnt worth using cuz hurting ur health so badly should b one of the worst things you can do to urself...

Who gives a shit if it "impairs your ability to learn?" What are you a little girl or something. Suck it up bitch. Don't you think alcohol impairs your ability to learn? Don't you think alcohol is bad for you. If your parents drink just compare Cannabis to alcohol. Alcohol kills 8,000 people a month in the United States alone. Thats almost 3 WTC attacks in ONE MONTH! Do the math! Lots of thing impair your ability to learn. I bet tobacco could impair your ability to learn to. Who knows what will impair your ability to learn. If your parents fight in the morning and your dad beats your mom you may have trouble learning. Smoked Cannabis probably has the same type of risks as smoked tobacco. I can guarantee you it doesn't give you long term brain problems. But that prozac or anti-depressant your parents or you are on does! So does your moms chill pills. I'm not trying to insult you or anything but lots of things can mess up your brain. Cannabis has been smoked since the beginning of time. Just something to think about.
I'd be more concerned about the chemicals the food companies are putting in your food! And i'd be more concerned about the fluoride in your water and in your toothpaste! Fluoride is the product of aluminum smelting and the aluminum companies get rid of the fluoride by giving it to the toothpaste companies and the government to put in your water! mmm fluoridey goodness! Flouride is one of the most toxic chemicals known to man and they put it in your fucking water! duhhhh red flag!

^^^ god damn man now i have to explain that its all about getting addicted. thats why is so much worse than alcohol, of course my dad drinks once in a while, but not many times a day like i do sometimes and eventually plan to.
and what do i say to my dad when he tells me that i have a 90 percent chance of eventually getting caught and wasting my life? i could just say it wont happen or sum shit liek taht, but thats all i can do.

noosa, can you tell me what are some permanant effects you experience?
-
how do you defend weed when it comes to long term effects??????
You should probably start thinking about all the medications you take and the chemicals they put in your food and water. I'd also take note of the antibiotics and hormones they put into the beef, chicken and pork you buy. Or you could start worrying about the mercury that is in the fish you buy. Also, the microwave gives off radiation that can in turn give you cancer. What about the air you breathe? I'd bet you that it has more toxins in it than marijuana smoke! And you breath it in all day! Oh and, what about the fruit and veggies you eat? It's sprayed with poison! mmmm yummy! What about the mold thats in you air in your house? I'm pretty sure that is more toxic than marijuana smoke. And if you don't have any mold (which is highly unlikely) you've probably got a huge amount of Radon in your house! Which is radioactive and causes cancer, and a whole bunch of other diseases! :D

You're not going to find out whether pot is good or bad for you from anyone in here. You'll have to figure it out on your own. There are lots of bad studies and lots of good ones. Keep in mind that the United States government will say anything to get people to hate marijuana. If you think the government is truthful, then believe it. If you think they are lying cocksuckers who try to give cannabis a bad reputation, don't believe it. Only you can choose whether it's worth smoking or not. I doubt that smoking cannabis every once in a while would hurt you. I don't think it would affect your ability to learn and function if you did it once a week or something. If you get into it everyday you may have problems but even then it depends on the person. Some people do well in school while high, but some fail miserably. It all depends on the person.

i'm not going off any "proven" facts...i know a lot of what is said can be propaganda, but i do know, from my own experience, that problem solving and absorbing information is exceptionally difficult for me when i'm ripped to the tits. which is why i've made the choice i've made. surely you understand. like you said, "it depends on the person".

and just exactly who paid to have this study done???if you want to look at study's go back to the laguardia report from 1935..or the syudy's done ny the nixon admin.the truth is that every study ever done by legitimate researchers have proven that cannibis is no more harmful to your respitory system than living in any major metro area in the us. i have smoked for over 30 yrs and have had no negative side effects from doing so..now thats not to say others will have the same positive experiance i have .but in a country that is supossed to be the freest on the planet we should all have the choice to decide for ourselves wheather we want to take these alleged risks

it can because the smoke you inhale contains carcinogens due to the fact its been burnt. Theres too many people around who dont accept that smoking weed CAN lead to long term problems. Not necessarily cancer, but a variety of less serious ones.

this link has a article on cannibis and lung cancer...
and no there is NO evidence that even heavy use of cannibis can cause cancer.
it's sad to see how many people even pot smokers who have brainwashed into believing that somthing bad will happen to every one who uses cannibis for extended period's of time..it has proven time and again that cannibis is the most theraputicly safe substance known to mankind..no one has ever died from a cannibis over dose ..NOT EVER..compared to aspirin and tylenol both of which kill thousands every year from O/D related deaths to kidney failure.[ acetimenophen] is the number one cause of kidney failure in the world.. that is a fact..i will choose to use cannibis for minor ache's and pain's over tylenol any day of the week...

i passed a 100-question test on black literature(and i got fucked that morning) marijuana multiplies my thinking. i enjoy being high, so therefore im going to achieve good things. im not joking either. i got an 80 percent on it. but smoking everyday, after a while could hinder you from reaching your highest potential. if youre a student id say just use on weekends, and if you wont do that do it once a weekday. smoking weed will NOT cause you to fail. being lazy will and blaming the weed on it will. just keep smoking and fuck the rest.

ok....(sorry to bring this up cause im sure it has been discussed 100000 times before...)but does cannabis enduce psychosis?
-
how do you defend weed when it comes to long term effects??????
Sorry, but there has been more research done and there has been no successful tests on long-term use, big reason being that they didn't discover melatonin and pot's effects on it, until recently. 1986, I think, was when it was discovered and early 90's is when, I think, it was linked up with pot. It has been years since I did the research so I forgot.
But, did you check the resource page of the link? Their resources are a PBS program and Marijuana Anonymous. Do some of your own research but don't believe everything you read over the internet.

no it does not.. but it can cause problems for people who are pre desposed to scitzaphrenia [ sorry bout the spelling] if you dont have a whole hell of a lot going on for you upstairs then weed may not be the best thing for you ..but it is far less dangerous than giving alcohol to a mentaly unstabble person..some people get paranoid from weed..i have always thought this is because the person suffering from the paranoia has other problems like low self esteem or are always to concerned about what other's may think about them..when in reality they should be worried about what they think of themselve's .i could give a flying fuck at a rolling doughnut what any one on the planet thinks of me ..but i do care enough about my self to do what i think is best for myself. and what i believe is best for me is using cannibis on a daily basis to help keep me from choking the life out of all the morons in this world who keep saying that weed is dangerous becuase the govt said it is,,

Educate yourself and your dad....that is what you really need to do.
Knowledge is your best weapon...
from NORML:
Marijuana, like other drugs, is not for kids. There are many activities in our society that we permit adults to do, but forbid children, such as motorcycle riding, skydiving, signing contracts, getting married and drinking alcohol or smoking tobacco. However, we do not condone arresting adults who responsibly engage in these activities in order to dissuade our children from doing so. Nor can we justify arresting adult marijuana smokers on the grounds of sending a message to children. Our expectation and hope for young people is that they grow up to be responsible adults, and our obligation to them is to demonstrate what that means.

sort of,
30 yrs ive smoked and ive not grown no tits, became a axe murderer or think im jesus or some shit, ive got two healthy kids almost adults and they smart as can be,every mental problem i have i was born with thanks to genetics.
cannabis has in fact made me able to acomplish many things like graduating high school and surviving a rough lifestyle of reckless abandonment as a teen.
weed is nothing compared to booze as far as 'skill deterieration" or memory loss and health risk,it will not turn your liver into a solid stone like booze and it will not make you CRAZY if your not pre disposed to be a friutcake, hell it may delay it by chilling you out and not making the 'angry young man'come out and play, not saying its harmless to everyone, just it is not the evil entity that the goverment says it is so it can kick in your door and arrest you, hoping that arrest of the weed user since he is made to be running with bad crowds at times to get his meds, may lead to other bigger criminals
we are being used, and abused by BIG money,
all of us who have no chioce but to seek a way to smoke one so we can eat and sleep and not have as much pain, all called criminals as we are being used
by the fuckers who want among many other companies

i understand what your saying and i apologize if my responses made it sound like i was blaming marijuana for my own ignorance. what i'm trying to say is that there is a lot of new information that my head has to absorb and getting ripped before this knowledge is poured into my head isn't the best idea for me, this is from knowing my own head when i'm high. it alters my thinking and directs it into another direction beside the right one at the moment. i see getting high as a test of my education. when i'm stoned i find it hard to remember information that has been said, but that can easily be cured by writing the information down. perhaps i spoke too soon...i haven't even been to school high yet, but from my own experiences on learning from my own resources it has failed...due to my own laziness.
i'm so glad i don't drink alcohol.

I was born with a learning disability, since i started smoking i've been doing a lot better. I guess my self esteem has really sky rocketed because now im not so bored and i actually have a bit of fun to look forward to after im done with my homework, im more socail and not just with potheads, i may be a little more lazy and cant run very far without having to cough and have a heart attack but thats just about it. I've come a long way and pot really pushed me back up from depression and shit. If anyone trys to disagree with me then i know the truth because im living proof that weed doesent make everyone stupid or go on to bigger and worse drugs it really depends on the person.
I've even stoped myself from smoking everyday which is sumthing i thought i couldent do because people kept saying it to me...but its not true and im just living my life, enjoying it, and doing what i should do the best I can. Anyone wanna still get on my case they already heard it from me and thats all i can do for them. Peace! I got homework to do.

***Science: Schizophrenia
Israelian scientists propose that the association between
cannabis use and increased risk for schizophrenia that have been
observed in recent studies from Sweden, the Netherlands, New
Zealand, and Israel may not be causal. Several studies have
reported an association between genes encoding the
cannabinoid receptor and
schizophrenia. The researchers write: "An alternative explanation
of the association between cannabis use and schizophrenia might
be that pathology of the cannabinoid system in schizophrenia
patients is associated with both increased rates of cannabis use
and increased risk for schizophrenia, without cannabis being a
causal factor for schizophrenia." (Source: Weiser M, Noy S.

did anyone know that we have THC receptors that we are born with in our brains....now why would "god" make us humans with those receptors if the only way to get them working is by putting THC in your system...why would "god" grow weed for us to smoke with thc receptors in our brains that cause creativivty..but not want us to smoke the fucking plant? the only thing that has thc in it is weed..so he obbiusly wanted it smoked by us..
