Major heat prob!! HELP!!
I have a kinda growing problem with heat building up in my grow room, since its like a walk in closet i have a 400watt hps about 4 feet from the plants and after the light has been on for about 4-5hours you open the door and get quite a considerable bit heat that heats you in the face...i have no obvios way of getting rd of the heat except opening the door and have a fan blowing full tilt through the door for bout an hour before it cools down...anyone have any ideas of a cheap but effective way of removing heat without drilling holes through walls and that? Cheers!

Major heat prob!! HELP!!
INsert a small compact AC unit...they sell for $80.00.
Of course you would need to cut a hole in the wall for the heat to escape out....but someone here said, on lower settings, it cooled the room and the heat wasnt a problem.
Might try that.
Other than that, the only way to remove heat is to remove it. It has to be vented at some point....and...you need to vent in as well.....plants need fresh air for Co2.
Best of luck.

Major heat prob!! HELP!!
Your other problem is 400w 4' away will make the plants stretch for light. At that distant the lumens are wasting away. Look for some glass you can install as a heat shield. You can also install a fan to remove the heat from the light and that may save you around 10 deg or better and allow you to get the light closer.

Major heat prob!! HELP!!
well ive got the light in a permanant fixed position and jus suspended a 12" fan right next to the light but i can easily move the plants closer to the light the have stretched a fair bit so i'll put a few pics on later on to let ya have a look

Major heat prob!! HELP!!
Oh yea, they are stretching.
I don't see a solution that doesn't involve cutting a hole somewhere.
Maybe you can hack the door (maybe ceiling) instead of a wall? You can install an exhaust fan on the door to remove hot air or have AC vented in through the door.

Or you can leave the door open while you sleep and get one of those canopy beds. You'll feel like you're camping!

Major heat prob!! HELP!!
sorry dude but you should plan a little better next time. Heat is a major problem, the idea of a remote ballast is to locate it outside the grow area. I hope your plants don't turn hermie on you from the heat or the stress you are causing them.
Good luck

Major heat prob!! HELP!!
surprisingly enough my plants hasnt gone hermie on me...jus put one 14 or 17" fans and aim it directly at the light seems to to the trick and theres now barely no heat build up...only thing ive notice withe the plants now the new node are somewhat alot more closer then what heyve previously done and the fan leaves are getting longer and wider...dunno if thats to compensate for the extra heat but hey i dunno what cannabis plants look like during their life cycles so its kinda a very fun learning experience for my part! :D and will prepare me for any future grows! cheers for your help guys really appreciate it!

Major heat prob!! HELP!!
um... my guess...
put in a pot of ace with a fan bliwng down on it.. the cool air will fill up in the pan and over flow outward.. the heat will evapoate the ice so set up a few papertowels (prop them so they dont move from the air circulation) to absorb the moisture in the air

Major heat prob!! HELP!!
I definately had this problem before. In summer the therm would read up to 114 with the 600w hps. I got a small ac and installed it, I also got a bottle of co2. The heat definately caused the plants to stop growing.
