Yacking from Weed?

I've heard that one of the primary uses for medicinal marijuana is to alleviate vomiting, so I'm really confused about my experiences.

I've tried weed twice now, and both times I yacked like a mofo. The first time (I took like 12 hits, wasn't very potent), it was like 3 or 4 hours before I started yacking. The second time (I took only like 2 hits, but it was some purple haze medicinal marijuana stuff that hit me hard) it was like 1 or 2 hours before I threw up. Both times I could feel the high, but both times I was trippin out a lot too. Most people tell me you can drive while you're high b/c you can concentrate, but I tried it the second time I smoked, and let me tell you: it was hard as hell! It's easier for me to drive when I'm buzzed than when I'm high.

None of my friends have yacked from weed, so either something is seriously wrong with my body or I'm just doing it wrong. Any of you have advice or heard of similar experiences?

Threw up twice, once from coughing to much the other was last night. Second time using my bubbler and I was trying to snap the bowl and I sucked to hard and swallowed a mouth full of nasty ass water and the little piece of bud that got pulled threw. Emptied my stomach (non-voluntarily) 5 min later.

My guess is you are swallowing alot of the smoke rather than simply inhaling it. Or you are having throat issues and producing MASSIVE amounts of phlem (sp?) which is running into your stomach, causing vomiting after enough has accumulated. I wouldn't think 2 hits would do that in either situation unless, its an allergic type reaction. I'm not a doctor, but my guess is you are allergic to something in the weed. Or it was coincidental. Did you munch out hard after you smoked.

As far as driving I wouldn't have been able to drive my first couple times, but I've built a bit of a tolerance, and learned how to keep an even concentrated head when needed.

Both times I ate food within like 30 minutes of toking, but I didn't really eat too much. Maybe what you brought up about the allergic reaction is right, but I'm literally not allergic to anything else so that would be a rare allergy for me. Plus it would just suck if I'm allergic to it :(.

I noticed I forgot to mention some stuff about my body in the original post, so I'll include a little here. When it comes to drinking, I'm a heavyweight. I don't really get hangovers, and I've NEVER vomited from drinking. I stoged for a while, not too much, but I quit a few months back. Oh, and I've never dropped e or done lines or anything -- just stuck to weed and unfortunately I got some bad experiences :(. The first weed I tried was from the street, and the second was medicinal, so professionally grown.

Based on your drinking record, I would say you can rule out just having a weak stomach, so the food after smoking can pretty much be ruled out.

At the bottom they list nausea as a possible negative side effect (cannabis is often used to alleviate nausea in but everyone reacts differently). You may be one of the few people that experiences nausea from marijuana. Apparently you had a rather extreme reaction. If you really want to persue it, give it another try with a smaller does. Meaning don't get high grade stuff and don't smoke so you get totally fucked up, just get a mild buzz and see if you feel sick. Maybe having an OTC anti-nausea drug (I assume these are available. I haven't bought/used pharm drugs in 8+ years) handy wouldn't be a bad idea.

Thanks for the help mono. I'll try it in smaller doses and see what happens. Could it be just that my body is adjusting to it since I've only done it twice? Hopefully third time's a charm ;) .

One last Q- Is it really possible to be allergic to weed? I've heard from different sources that it both is and isn't. Which is the truth?

I think you are thinking yourself into your own illness. Im not trying to insult by saying this so here goes; i think you are too nervous/scared/edgy about it, in your posts you seem to describe yourself as a person who freaks out a lot or is kinda edgy. The high from pot is like most other psychoactives, it is what you make it, if you think your going to puke - your gonna puke, if you think your gonna have fun - ur gonna have fun. Try being more relaxed about it.

Another thing; maybe its your appetite? did you eat prior to gettin stoned? did you eat while stoned? or not at all? lack of food can cause some people to dry heave and i think most of us here have probably over-done the munchies once or twice and either puked or just felt kinda sick. Personally i hate eating while im high, it ruins it for me for some reason, so i eat before i blaze.

isn't it amazing how much less attractive girls are when their puking...haha that can ruin it for me.

I only puke when I smoke and drink. I'm not sure why because I know plenty of people who have no problem mixing Alcohol and pot but I just can't do it for some reason. Even a few beers is too much for me when I'm smoking too.

zoomzoom, i think KillaKali dancing bananaman is right. It can be hard to understand how you convinced yourself that you need to throw up, but you can find a way to not throw up. I once did too much weed and I felt on the bridge of barfing for about half an hour, then I just started doing a bunch of math in my head because I somehow realised that would make the sickness go away.

Doesn't really make sense, but try just thinking yourself out of it.

i would have to agree with moeburn, if you take your mind off of thinkin that you are gonna get sick then you should be ok. i over did it one night and smoke 2 fat blunts to the head and i felt like i was gonna throw up everythin i ate. i was so high and sick that i couldnt drive my car home i had to get my friend to do it. but i just thought about a bunch of other things and after awhile the sick feelin just went away.

I'll try to take your advice on talking myself out of being paranoid and stuff, but to be honest, I really don't feel that paranoid at all when I'm high. The first time, I admit, I was kind of hesitant, but the second time when I puked, I didn't even feel sick or feel it coming at all. I just had my eyes closed and was trippin out about something (don't really remember what it was now) and it sorta just happened.

Do you think it would be possible to be allergic though, or is that just a myth?

P.S. One time somebody said they laced some hookah tobacco with weed (I didn't know about it at the time), and I was pretty trashed when I took hits from it so I didn't really feel anything. I didn't throw up or anything, but then again, I think the guy might be playin w/ me. I mean, is it even possible to put weed into a hookah in the first place?

ive threw up a few times, from smoking out of steam rollers, but they were like 1.5 feet long and about the size of the bottum 24 fl oz enrgy drink... then other times... it was from drinking and smokin weed, but if I smoke then drink im fine, if i drink then smoke, i almost always puke

Yes you can put weed in hookas. I imagine you can be allergic to weed just about anything, weed is a plant, lots of people are allergic to different plants, I would say more than likely an allergy to cannabis is very possible. I'm not a doctor though, so I don't know for sure. The fact that you had your eyes closed and you were tripping out the second time indicates you were pretty dissociated and knowing that it could have easily just been simple nausea. The only thing that bugs me about it, is you said you never throw up when drinking. Not sure, everything effects everyone in different ways, I stick by the lower dosage, and possibly an additional anti-nausea drug near by.

Ditto, if I even just have a couple beers before I smoke or if I get really drunk much earlier in the day, I can't smoke weed for the next day or else I'll feel like i want to puke for 4 hours. Drinking AFTER smoking is no problem tho.
