Just got a glass pipe question!?!?!

okie, this is such a n00b question, but i just got a glass pipe, i usually use papers, but i smoke so much that iam smoking too much paper, and wanted to lessen that, so i got a glass pipe. Now .......do i have to use a metal screen for it or not???? my friend has a wooden pipe, and she uses screens, so i thought that naturally i would need them too, but they dont stay in the glass bowl. Sorry for such a question guys, but i really dont know. Right now iam using it without......and it seems to be working fine. Thought anyone, and thank you in advance!!!! :D

just make sure u dont smoke solids without a gauze.

this one needs cleaned bad
cant really toke the hell out of cuasu u suck it thru hole fire ashes an all
slow hits to, so not draw in anything down the lil hole
but screens dont work well in my opnion,aint made for one
i try to make the weed inthe shape of the bowl,kinda conoact a nice cleaned up bud,then as it burns ona slow hit,do one hit it is for me
works great and few grams last ya while that way

as Chinky420Va said you can get glass screens on the net or at smoke shops. metal screens will work but the great thing about glass pieces is the nice taste from it and if you use a metal screen you get that nasty taste with it so it kind of ruins the whole glass idea. as you already stated you can just do without one at all. that is what i prefer to do.

Only use a screen if it starts spitting embers down your throat and avoid putting shake at the bottom of the bowl. The little stem nubs on your buds can clog the hole in the bowl so don't stick that end down first. If you find yourself in a situation where it's all shake, use a screen or if you have just a little itty bitty bud and more shake, bud first then shake. :D

I've seen dirtier, but only once...and I slapped the bugger for trying to smoke out of it. Turns out he didn't know he COULD clean glass...he was taught to scrape the inside with a knife and collect the resin. He figured since he couldn't get the knife in the end of the pipe, why bother?

Yeah, glass pipes can have screens...if you get a glass screen, go for it and have fun. But a metal screen can cause problems...I find that once the pipe has been used a few times, there will be enough buildup inside the bowl that the screen will stay in. Press it down with the butt-end of a lighter, or a pen cap (something that won't poke through the screen)

Be careful though, if its pressed too far down, it'll expand when it gets hot. and since there's no room for it to expand sidewise, it'll expand upwards. and if it starts to do that, chances are it'll pop right out of the pipe, showering you with half-burned weed and glowing embers.

usually glass pieces are made so you dont need a screen, the hole is pretty small, if your sucking it through it could be one of these problems

1) sucking too hard
b) hole it too big
3) your bowls are too small
d) your smoking shake
5) your roasting the ashes
f) gravity is fuckin wit you

either way if no matter what your inhaling embers get a glass screen, metal screen scratch your bowl and make it hard to get resin out of the scratches and matel tastes like chemicals

U don't need a screen just don't tilt your head back and don't suck too hard and u will be fine

I just bought a glass pipe, and I prefer it much better than any of my friend's metal ones. The hits are smoother, it tastes better, the pipe doesn't heat up...and no, you don't need a screen, the hole is a lot smaller.

u dont gotta use a screen and if ur ina situation that u have alot of shake just role a j,,a joint every once in a while aint gonna hurt you,,if ur looking for smooth hits with even less harmful stuff use a bong if u dont lvie with parents or ne thin like that

Glass pipes don't want anything to do with metal. That means you shouldn't scrape them either. to clean them you can put them in a cup full of rubbin alcohol, or if you want to smoke the resin you can boil it out and then dry it, but be careful because this could b fatal to your bowl after you boil it.

If you put the pipe in the water before it heats up and let it heat up with the water, it won't crack. Also, boil it on a low rolling boil, then DON'T pour cold water on it to cool it down; let it cool naturally.

also it's easier to clean per use, than using the pipe for months on end then cleaning it.

I find cleaning mine every couple of weeks keeps them in perfect shape.

Everywhere in the World everyone has there own little special way of doing things like where and when what time who is around and who is not , what direction to face when doing it..bottom line the choice is yours .... some choose yes , and some don't. There is no wrong answer .... I do in some, and some don't need it.. .. if I may ask ,? Where in the world are you?

There are many people that use glass pipes. i think that's a good idea that you leave paper cigarettes. glass pipes are better and you don't get any other things with tobacco or any other thing that you smoke. ya remember that don't smoke any solid things with it.
