Throat tightness / closing feel

Hello Im mseerob and Im new to this forum....

I have had asthma all my life I use to smoke when I was 18 years old, but it used to be an on and off thing. I nevered smoked everyday, it would be a few weeks to a few months. The VERY first time I smoke I experienced difficulty swallowing. I went to the doctors few months later and he said there was nothing wrong with it, just gargle with saltwater. So I did and I continued smoking. Then I realized it wasnt going away, I stopped smoking when I was 19, of last November 2004. I was prescribed some green liquid and that didnt work. Saltwater didnt do anything either. So then I was prescribed pencilin and that got me really sick. Before the pencilin my body always felt tired and I was told my body is fighting the infection. I was then prescribed this other medicine at a hopsital and it took 2 weeks that I felt a lot better. 3 months later now Im experiencing throat tightness or I should say closing feel. And it feels stiff and loose and free. So I went to the.......

Throat specalist
Walk in Clinic
Had a blood and Urine Test
Throat swab
X-RAY

And Throughout those test, it all came out fine plus mono negative. My doctor then assumed that it could be anxiety but it couldnt be anxiety because I dont get stressed out to often. So then my doctor has scheluded me to goto get an allergy test.. Do you think Im allegic to pot. Because everything came out fine in the test but Im still experiencing throat tightness/ closing feel, stiffness in the throat. The throat specialist even putted some tube into my nose to examine the inside of my throat and he didnt find anything. Im confused. It even feels weird right now. The upside that I had when I smoke was that I felted calm for a lil while..

I'm not a doctor, and i'll admit I didn't read the whole thing, but maybe your eating something and getting an allergic reaction.

the throat closing up sounds like an allergic reaction....i wouldn't say anxiety. You would know if thats what it was, ya know? That sucks it turns out ur allergic..i can't say i've ever heard of anyone being allergic, however I have met people that can't smoke b/c of anxiety...(they think there throats closing up but its not) like more mental than anything.....does this sound like u? :rolleyes:

Anyways :rolleyes: I dont know if it is mental but I mean the doctors especially the throat specalist checked my throat and it was clear :confused: I talked with my family and they think it is allergies. And my doctor seems to think it could also be mental but then again he said he doesnt know :mad: Im confused and Im upset. I dont smoke anymoe but I could smoke even if I was stressed..

I had that feeling once.
It is because your throat is really dry (Cottonmouth) and it feels like your tongue is swelling up and closing up your airway.
Really it is in your head you are fine and will continue to be.
Just drink all the time i am sure you will be fine.
Just dont think about it when toking.

I get that when i get paranoid, just stay away from bread and dry shit, get some drink, one time i had it and ate an entire bag of saltines, most horrendous and orgasmic time of my life :)

Actually when I smoke weed my tongue doesnt swell up. Plus after awhile my throat is not dry after I drink for awhile. Very first I experience difficulty swallowing but I never had the throat tightness, then after I took some medication to fight the difficulty swallowing and the tiredness I was experiencing then I was ok for like 2 months then I started experiencing throat tightness. So I assumed it was still the weed. I dont know what to do man, I goto these doctors and they keep on giving me dumbshit.

My tongue didnt swell up but man it sure as shit felt like it did.
sounds just like a normal reaction to someone with a slight dehydration problem.
Just make sure you are fully hydrated before you toke.

DUDE.....my throat has done that to me twice.....once when i got entirely too high and then when i took 2.5 hits of acid....it literally feels like your throat is closing up or something.....very unpleasant.....the only way i could get rid of it was by going to sleep.....i dont think its allergies.....i dont know what it is......but i pray to god it never happens to me again

yeah. I've been getting that recently but i belieave its all in my head, like right now.. if I think about it, it become hard to breath.. and swallow.. so I think it's just in your head.. but Iu could be wrong.. yeah and also if I get my mind on somethin else.. i dont notice it so it goes aways =s

How could it be all in my head. For over 6 months!!! It couldnt be, even if I got my mind on something else I can still feel it. Besides I talked to the doctor again and I telling him that weed is plants and was asking him how could I be allergic to weed if its not grass but its plants. He replied with no pause in our conversation and he told me that if Im allergic to trees and grass then I will surely be allergic to weed. He told me that he will give the report to my family doctor and I will be getting allergy shots to build up my tolerance. I just got this drug called Benadryl. I took it and my throat got a bit tighter. I guess its just my unluckely few months.

yeah i have a feeling my 2 experiences were in my head too......or maybe i got nervous and my throat swelled

so what should I do. Im experiencing this throat tightness and its not going away, it couldnt be in my head cause I can do many fun things that can take my mind of it, and its still there. Any suggestions? :(

no it probably is in your head, even if your just thinking about it a little bit it will happen.......i get that every once and a while but only when i think about it...

maybe if you got some xanax and took it when u smoked it would help(if it is in your head) and you eventually wouldnt need to take it any more (although i dont see why you wouldnt want to......
