My friend is gone forever.....

-Teen is charged in fatal police accident-
>A high-speed chase, a fatal accident, and now charges are handed down for those police say are responsible.
Last saterday, 24yr old rookie cop Owen Fisher died after a police car crashed into another police car.
On monday afternoon, 19yr old Cristopher Bentoski(my friend LiL Chris) was charged with seven felonies. The most serios one is manslaughter, which carries a 15yr sentence.
Police say Bentoski(LiL Chris) was driving the car they were trying to stop. Officers say they saw him with an open container of alcohol, which they say led to the chase, which they say ultimately led to the deadly accident.
Genessee county prosecuter David Leyton said, "These were very serios crimes. The community of Flint is mourning the death of officer Fisher and my office is reacting HARSHLY with the actions that we believe led to his death."
Christopher Bentoski's attorney says his client has a clean record and that the whole story isn't out there yet.
Prosecutors say they will charge 21yr old Linda Freeman(LiL Chris's girlfriend, who is also pregnant with his baby)with six felonies. They say she was a passenger in Bentoski's car.

Now, I am not saying that my friend is innocent, some one died, and he need be punished. But, since it was a cop that died, they are throwing the book at my boy. The police also beat my friends at the scene of the accident, when they found out that one of their policeman was killed. Chris has never done anything wrong in his life. He is a good kid and the best friend someone could have. I had to vent this out I hope I didnt blow anyones high.

The young police officer,should have not died for such an irresponsible act,and my thoughts and prayers,are with his family. At least only one person died this time..and not an entire family,all at once..however,3 families will now be in anguish..for many years..and for some - to the end of their days.

Drinking and driving is fucked up... no doubt about that, and it was the ROOT of what happened here, but there are other factors. Police chases are inheriently dangerous, but that doesn't mean that the suspect is responsible for ALL damages along the way ESPECIALLY if they police were being reckless. As the defense attourney said, we haven't heard the full story yet. I'm sorry for the loss of the police officer and I feel for his family. That doesn't mean that it wasn't his own, or another officers fault.

I don't agree with drunk drivers...And anyone who lost someone to a driver that was intoxicated will tell you the same thing. A friend of mine lost one of her 4 yr old twin sons when he was playing in his OWN yard, and the drunk driver came crashing into the yard and killed him. ... no, car chases are dangerous, this is why many states have rules about when a cop can actually engauge in pursuit. A police officer can elevate a situation just as much as a criminal. Like I said, I think drinking and driving is horrible. I don't drink myself, and spend my weekends at school carting friends aquiantances and often strangers too and from parties, wawa, homes, appartments etc. In other words, I have no life on weekends so I can keep people from drinking and driving. It costs me money in gas, time, and I have to clean up vomit in cars etc. It's worth it to me, to keep drunks off the road. On the other hand if I swerve to dodge a drunk driver and hit a pedestrian its MY FAULT. I wasn't in proper control of the vehicle, and I didn't have a full awareness of the situation I was in. I wouldn't expect the drunk driver to pick up manslaughter because I hit the pedestrian. Likewise I don't feel this guy should pick up manslaughtor for one cop hitting another cop.

Holy Shit, and he's never been in trouble before? When he fucks up, he really fucks up!!! Well, the only thing you can do is be there for him and write/visit him. It really pissed me off that no one really cared that this kid's best friend died in a car accident with a police car. I thought that his friends "punishment" was death. The situation was this: the feller who posted this story,said that his friend was driving with an open container of alcohol and a cop spotted him and tried to pull him over,but the punk freaked out and chose to run,rather than surrender to the cop and be a man about it. Because he chose to flee,instead of pulling over,in the resulting high-speed pursuit of his punk ass,one cop crashed into another and died as a result.

The original post,was improperly titled and led you to believe,that the poster's friend died,not the cop..rather than lamenting the loss of the cop,the poster was lamenting the fact that his friend would have to do jail time and that he wouldn't ever see him again,which I find to be almost as inexcusable as the actions of his friend.

When it comes to drinking and driving,I have no empathy for the drunk..and neither should you or anyone else.

I've also noticed,that some of the posters who replied to this thread,seem to have a basic disconnect in their brains,when it comes to personal accountability..a sure sign of a liberal mind-set..both the driver and his girlfriend,are responsible for this mess,because they chose to git behind the wheel of a car and drive while drinking..but for their choice..a young officer would still be alive. The cop has to follow department policy and if that policy is to stop those who commit a crime and then subsequently flee an arresting officer..then the cop was following orders from his superiors.

Rather than placing the blame on the punk who got the officer killed,some of y'all want to shift the blame to the cop,because he was following orders and chose to pursue the punk,who was putting everyone on the streets at risk..that's pretty daggum sad..and is a classic example of how the liberal mind-set works.
