Ok so i'm thinking about buying 1 oz. leaves, 5x one gram, and 10x one gram. I was just wondering (in general) how many uses that will get you. I expect the 1 oz. to get me a few, but will you burn through a gram of extract in one use... i dont really know how much a gram is as far as salvia is concerned! So for you salvia experts out there... help!
You should get a good 5 or 6 uses from a gram of extract. It burns really quick and you will smoke one bowlpack in one hit, at least I do, I don't know how other people do it.
keep the lighter on the stuff as you inhale it, that's all i know, you can't remove the lighter and continue to smoke it
Don't bother with buying plain leaf unless you plan on doing a home extraction with it. VERY few people experience any sort of high from smoking the plain leaf, let alone a psychadellic one.
I would highly recommend getting standardized extracts as well, as I've found they burn better and provide a cleaner feeling high, with no after headache. The same can't be said about non-standardized, which after smoking myself and all my friends get a throbbing headache.
I would also recommend getting 5x and then either 15x or 20x because while you'll notice a difference between 5x and 10x, it won't be terribly drastic. Salvia isn't the most comfortable of highs, but it's definately psychadellic and something worth investigating for anyone who is into that sort of thing.
I'm a salvia hard-head, but 1 gram of 20x can put me on a good 7-10 'spiritual journeys'. ((Ha! Kidding, I just do it to get fucked up. lolol))
Pack about 1/10th of the gram of extract for your first time, and hold a butane torch lighter over it while inhaling through a bong with ice and water for best effects. Take as much as you can, hold it in for a goof 10 seconds, exhale and immediately take another hit. 1-3 hits will tear your mind into a bajillion pieces. Lay back and close your eyes, expect to be flying through fractals in no time.
For some people more then 1 hit of 20x is terrifying and disorienting. I find it to be fucking amazing. Find your own personal preference and repeat.
Weird. I've always found that salvia holds it's cherry pretty damn well. I light it once, take as big a hit as I can, then hold and breathe out. When I go to smoke in again, it's still lit enough on top to just pull and have it light the stuff beneath it over again until the bowl is empty.Quote:

you have to get it really hot to tear the chemicals out properly. and you should really hold in each hit as long as possible. if you can hold them in for 30 seconds to a minute, it'll only take a couple big hits to send you flying through space. sometimes i like a nice little hit before bed to make the night's dreams more 'spiritual'.

A one hit bowl of 10X or better is about right. Of course, one hit is more than one hit of pot. No, it is not tested for (EVER)
i just took some bong rips of 10x and it wasn't what i expected... I used a bong, and i held a butane over it, and held it in for a good 30 seconds, but it wasn't a deep mind thing like i had heard so much about. It was a big rush, a big wave of feeling came over me and it was semi-intense, but it was more of a light headed high feeling, not at all a spiritual imagery in my mind type of thing. Is this just because 10x isn't strong enough, or did i do something wrong??

To me salvia is an almost physical sensation of being pulled into a different dimension. Try taking a hit the way you described, and while you hold it have a friend reload the bowl, and take another. Salvia should feel like you are being sucked backwards into a seperate reallity. If that doesn't sound like fun, that's because it isn't, but it is amazing.
