um.. far as i kno... it looks like u skipped the germination process lol
take it out the soil.. put it in a cloth (not a paper towel).. wet the cloth so its damp.. then put it in a dark and warm area..
:P yer but there is a method to germinate in the growing medium!!...
and tht aint working!!!
you might have burried it too deep, and plus, 4 days isnt enough, you gotta wait atleast a week if you started it in soil, so just chill, dont dig everything up and start over until its been enought time
Miracle grow is your problem.
<Bangs head into wall>
Whats good soil for fertilization? I was always told most are fine, but evidently miracle grow isn't? Zandor, tips?
Ocean Forest Potting Soil
Sunshine #1
Mix them with Vermiculite & Perlite for better dranage.
Just to name a few.
Any sterial soil works. you don't want any fertilizer in the dirt. You want to control every drop of nutrients the plant gets. Is's all about control.

that 1 works better so far
you can get some dirt from outside in a lil cup to germainate
I do the paper towel method. Then i take it when it's just cracking out of the shell and plant the bottom of the seed like a tiny bit into the soil but i still leave it so i can see the seed. I don't put it half and inch or a 1/4 of an inch thats b.s i just make the soil nice and moist and put the seed basically on the top of it but with the part where the root comes out into the soil. It works fine for me.
yer.....it has germinated now even with mirical gro.....mg is fine!!! it is 2 inches high! already! after the first stalk showing...which was yesterday!!
i protest that you think mg is bad :P, anyway could you tell me if they look ok?
any tips?
mosaka
Well then by your vast experience I guess I am wrong. Time will tell but hey you are the expert then I guess. Protest all you want dude, time will tell. I do wish you all the luck going forward with your grow and I hope they turn out ok for you.Quote:

so your saying they look okay for now thn yes?

what?! you can germinate right in the soil no problem.. it's not always the best way.. but shit, that's what happens in the wild right? the seeds just hit the dirt.. seeds can take anywhere from 2-7 days to germinate..
read up on some different germination methods if you don't succeed with this. personally, i soak the seeds for 24 hours in water that's been sitting over night (to evaporate cholrine) then they go straight in the soil
what you did wasn't wrong...you just gotta try different things
thnxs, its germinated fine now they r about 1 - 2 inches tall now :D
....but i have the next problem :( :@ !!!
check out these photos i made 5 mins ago!!! i made a mini greenhouse to put em under....they have only been under there over night and i thik it was to humid or wet under there.....
1 of em just fell.....i had to put sticks up on all of em n tigh them titly to the stick....some leaves look....strange? i dunno plz tell me what you think about these!! :
....and the leaves are sorta going up making a mini cone ..... if u understand what i mean? i will do another pic....
before ya waiste high dollar seeds you should research little farther than page one of a website grow section
im with zandor i dont like Miracle Gro addicts for plants
peace
I never said you could not germinate seeds in dirt. It's the MG crap I was talking about. Even if they do germinate (and nature will find a way) your potential for problems have just begun.Quote:

What kind of problems?
i have slved my problems. i boiled up tap water, let it cool down, so the clorine will evaporate. then i drained the soil with that water on each plant to get rid of the fert in the mg soil. 3 out of 5 plants have recovered already and look healthy again. 2 still look a bit down. on most of them they have brown on the tips of the leaves....is this normal...?:s
have i fully recovered the plants by doing this? was this action correct?
thnx
mosaka
You kow, this is one thread I am not even gonna get involved in.
Mosaka...
You need to read dude. Congrats on your germination, but I say your problems are just beginnning.
I hope for the best for you...but I would spend every moment searching every board on MJ for what is ahead...
You cannot drain Miracle Grow of nutes...its half nutes in composition alone.
I am outta here......good luck little farmer :)
Ya sounds good. You don't have to boil your water, the clorine evaperates in 24 hrs. so just let it sit over night.thats what I do and I've tested it after (no clorine at all) But also flushing your plants was right ,after a while the soil gets watered down and the strength of the soil weakins. And the tips being dry is very common mostly outside but can happen indoors. It's probably from to much nutes and the sun or a hot light.
Don't listen to hardon most soil only has nutrients for 6 weeks...look on the bag it should say.
What exactly does this soil do to the plants?
ok.. new person steppin up...
i had like 16 seeds.. tried to germinate them... now they smell like shit... my partner told me they're rotten.. out of the 16.. 1 germinated and 2 are showing signs..
so i moved them from the others, and let the others try n germinate still... watever ones do germinate..
now the 3 i have.. i dont have soil at the moment.. but i bought liquid nutrients, a whole system for it (4 bottles for different growth periods).. i made a solution with water and the nutrients.. put the seeds in a paper towel.. saturated it with water.. then diped it a lil into the solution.. put it in a container and put it in my growbox.. so that this way, the seeds that were germinating can get nutrients for the next step.. ya kno?
is this wrong? ideas and opinions?
thnx for boostin me confidence....Quote:

i am also going to plant another 5 seeds in ordinary soil "quality" from the greenhouse, just in case the other 5 fail...
