Yes,
You can grow using flor. Home depot has them for cheap. Keep them close to the tops of your plants.. No further than 2 inches for best results.
SMB : )
But arn't there two different types of F.lights? Isn't there a clear one and one that is kinda a foggy-white color? Which ones should I get? Or both?
dont wast your time with fluros ,go and buy a nice 400wat hps light this will be good for 2 or 3 plants
How much do those cost?
Just because you can doesn't mean you should. Anything worth doing is worth doing right. Don't use flouros except for clones and seedlings. If your going to use only one light for veg and flowering get an HPS Hortilex bulb with some blue spectrum to balance out the initial red spectrum that HPS offers. 400w can grow more than 2-3 plants. You should make your decision based on space set aside for garden. If your using a closet, go 250w because that closet is going to get hot. Get a book. Don't take this on blind. Research, research, research! Otherwise your wasting money.
Hey. Alright I will buy a HPS Hortilex bulb. Right now I have some germinating seeds, they have not yet been planted. Can I use this HPS Hortilex bulb right away? Or should I use a Flour. light at first then switch? Where can I buy a HPS Hortilex bulb?
The HPS Hortilex bulb screw into all normal light sockits, right? Like if I wanted to screw it into some random sockit in my house I could do it? OR does it come with a specific base that it needs to be screwed into?
i just want a plant for myself.. if i use flourescent, wil i come up with a decent bud?
Well it all depends, what type of florescent tube light are you using? How strong? How big? These information is something you need to look into, heres a link that gives good information on indoor growing, and give lots of details based on lighting....Quote:

I agree that HPS is the only way to go. .... But starting using flors is a great education... and it really helps your appreciation and broadens your growth experience. All the great growers started using flors and harvested 1/8 of CHRONIC from their first plant... and they were proud... LOL.. sad but true...
then you say to yourself.. "fuck this if I am going to put all this time and energy into growing I need some wattage..."
Cam, you want to start all plants under flors, if you start from seed you should use flors for 20 - 30 days... after germination
if you start from ROOTED clones you should use flors for 5-15 days....
Nothing beats a good HPS light with great ventilation. Unfortunately I have seen many people use HPS bulbs and then keep them 16- 36 inches from their MATURE plants... this is a JOKE... don't be lazy, get chains and slowly lower your HPS lights to the optimal distance from your plants... lower lights 1 inch everyday starting at about 20 inches from the plants...
Get the HPS as close as you can to the plants... run an ocilating fan between the plants and the HPS.. I have seen gardens succesfully keep 1000 watt HPS bulbs on light movers with proper ventlation 2-4 iches from HUGE base ball bat size (diameter not length) flowering buds... !!! The rule of thumb is this... put your hand at the top of your Cannabis canopy, if your hand can stand the heat, so can your plants..
: ) sorry about the book
I would say ya, thats perfect for a closet growing plant, or in whatever space for a plant or 2, with alluminum at the bottom to of course reflect the light back at the plant from below. Go for it.
so i should start off with a florescent light.. and then move it to the hps? how big is this shit gonna grow to? how do i shrink it? i'm gonna try and grow it in my drawer.. can i turn it on its side?
Ok I'll buy fluro lights tomorrow, I've noticeed only 1 out of the 20 seeds I've started germinating yesterday has started to open up and show some root. So I'm excited about this. I'm sure by tomorrow night I'll see some more and have to start planting. I'll use fluro lights at first, then after it starts to get big, like two to three weeks or what ever, then use a strong HPS bulb, well, around 250watt Because I'm closet growing. I'm probably going to be growing 2 plants, I want both to be female. I want one to be a dwarf and another to stay a little small but not much. Will one HPS light cover two plants?
You got the right idea man,I manage to run a 400wat son t & 1000 watt in not much more space than a closet.I have good fans ducting in and out.To make maters worse i live in a warm climate in Australia,so i can only realy run both for six months of the year.I no i am wasteing a bit of light but the buds i get r worth it..... ;)Quote:
