How are my girls looking ?

First I'd like to say thanks to alot of you here . I have been reading for months and on my first hydro grow. The first 2 pic are of the mother in a tron I have had for every without success. Great for keepping mother alive and well but that's it. the 3'rd pic are 6 clones from mom. I just got an 400MH conversion bulb from discount, Does much better for veg. I almost burned them with HPS. They are about 2 weeks into veg another week and 12/12. It's a drip system and I use distilled water.I make my own. nutes are doing good and I keep and eye on the PH, they seem to like 6.2. My cusin gave me the seed about two and ahalf years ago northern lights from Canada fem seed. One out of two geminated. I have a tendencies to want to trim leaves to promt branch growth. Old tron learning. So what do you think?

It put the clones first.

They look great. But cropping will make them short and bushy too. You don't have the side room to grow out from what I can see. I like the 3-way light setup too btw. The middle picture has good coverage and structure too.

Thanks Zandor, I have learned alot from you even though you don,t know it. Been here a while but just registered. The one in the middle is the mother plant showing her sex, and the last one is mom in the phototron. Not much room in there but good for mothers, long term. I can keep her alive for at least 2 years. I made the mistake of going to 18/6 with the tron, most flowers I have seen in a tron in 10 years. I went back to 24/7 to get her to veg for clones. The first pic are the 6 clone under a 400 MH 2 weeks old with drip hydro . Those are the ones I trimmed. I have lots of room there. I'm an old dog with old tron instructions ,hard to brake. But there is alot of branch growth , I can,t beleive how fast hydro grows and recovers from trimming. Again, thanks Zandor and Garden Known. I will be keeping you guys updated with pics and any trouble I run into. My first grow under the 400 HPS was pretty slack, I went with soil (MC) bad choice. 2 out of 6 were female. 1 bagseed and 1 NL. The NL was small but awsome and the bagseed I couldn't let go long enough cause my NL clones were ready. Anyway thanks again and look for my updates. I like it when people keep updating with pic's. It gives you an idea of what looks good and bad. I have seen some awsome pic's , especially you Zandor awsome stuff I doubt I get that big. Well it's hot out here mid atlantic east coast. Best thing I did was AC for my grow room shed, keeps the heat down at least until the wife finds out. LOL

UPDATE !
Hydro f'ing rocks. The girls are 14 days into veg, or coarse that's a few more days to root from clone but tomarrow is 3 weeks and then 12/12. Dumped my res a few days ago and now half and half grow and bloom. I will dump in a week or so to go to bloom. I'm also playing the PH up game. I know distilled water takes alot to bring up to PH. Is it the same for RO water? Or are there better nuts that are PH buffered I read that keep it under controll. I'm using dynagro. Anyway welcome to the jungle.

And if anyone wants to know yes they are all showing there sex. It's all about the sex baby!! LOL

1 week into 12/12. I thought I would show how the roots hang in the water , I haven't seen anyone show it.
Oh yea my son said I couldn't play with his lego's any more cause they always have to go to rehab afterwards. LOL

do you have airstones in your res... if not, you may want to consider it... it will lesson the chances of root rot, which always sets in sooner or later when roots sit in water..

also maybe some Hydrogen peroxide...

Thanks Garden Knowm, I was thinking the same thing, Kind of like a drip and areoponics at the same time. They look a little yellow under the HPS lights but they are snowy white. I just got my calmag the day before this pic, it looks like it's helping but it's also time for a res change. Thanks again. You can't quite see yet but they are all girls, I just didn't get up close shots. Next update I will, if I can figure out the macro on my cam. OH yea I know I saw it some where but what's the hydrogen peroxide do? And how much per gallon? All I have is the farmacy stuff not the high percent food grade. I showed the roots because I haven't seen any hydro roots on here yet. Unreal how fast they grow.

Try taking one plant (only one) and trim the roots that are hanging in the water. Trim them above the water line.

Now sit back and see what happens? There is no affect on the root ball and it will not kill the plant. They will grow back quickly so keep them trimmed and see how they grow compared to the others.

Zandor, If you say it works I will play with one and show pics. As for the little guy's they are always there hiding waiting for harvest, But they are small I think I can share. I will update with pics today or tomarrow, been working hard I may need help. Oh and the calmag really helped stabilized my PH. Pics to come.

I just built the same size aero system out of same tub with 20 misters underside of tub 15 gallons of nutes and 12 inch bubbler on bottom. My plants are 2 weeks old and are on GH 3 part nutes they are in the system now for 4th day and looking healthy. My pH goes up slightly each day. more when I only had 10 gallons of nutes in ther. Now w/ 15 gallons seems to rise slower..3 points in one day..When should I add pH down what pH?...I added 2 gallons plain water in two days seems like thats whats needed 1 gallon day....I am useing RO water 7.0 pH...anyway ...Next week I will be getting a digital cam to show pictures.... Is it safe to post on this site? Can I wait two weeks to change nutes out? Low on money to buy more diamond nector? or can I mix only three part micro/grow/bloom...without diamond nector? only have 1 tsp per gallon of each part right now...Don't wanna burn plants again...Will be getting ppm meter in two weeks...Cant wait for the peice of mind....Big difference since I got the oakton pH meter three days ago!!!! This is a very good site to learn. I post pics cause what's the difference when you talk about it. If they want (feds) to chase down every small personal grower the terrorist would have run of the country. They have more important things to do. How much and where did you get your PH meter ? I need one but low on funds lately. Try to keep your PH down I'm sure you seen the levels required. The PPM meter helps greatly. Add nutes and then PH balance. As for the nutes and nector I'm using dyna-gro one part either grow or bloom it's what came with my system, but want to try others. Start your own thread so you can keep us updated with pics and peeps will help with questions. This site is great and don't forget to use the search. I also need to get the growers bible or one of the other good books for refrence.

I recommend a copy Jorge Cervantes book "Indoor Marijuana Horticulture the indoor Bible" you will use it as a reference for many years to come the ISBN number is 1-878823-29-9.

I trimmed the water roots back. Let's see what happens. Day 10 of 12/12.All are showing white hairs, just a few but showing. The root just barely hit water now.

Oh Yea, just found a dam illeagle alien in my stuff !! after awhile we broke down the language bairerer and I decided to let him stay and help with the harvest. Cheap wages. LOL. Besides I got a whole group watching him just in case. More to come!!!

AandKdaddy...you add you 3 part to distilled water/RO water and ph won't fluctuate as much...you adjust ph down every time you change your reservoir, also you ph adjust your water before you top off in between nutes changeout...hopes this helps

Update! The plant I cut the roots on droopped alittle, should be first pic. Only on the top not much though. I just changed the res today and It's been 2 days since I cut them and I can see the roots starting to grow back. It's 12 days into 12/12 and the other pic is the hairs starting all over all six plants, northern lights. It's about time I start getting lucky. Things like growwing any type of plants don't come easy to me. But if you do your home work it can be done. I'm watching them Zandor beside a little droop it's still kicking ass. That's why they call it playing. Thanks much , more updates to come.

What you should be seeing is the one you trimmed the roots on the main stock will thicken. It will work just a little harder for nutrient uptake and that will make the stock thicker. Thicker stock will increase the over all weight of the finished product. Just keep an eye out. Not every strain likes having it roots messed with. It's not like you are trimming the root ball their just branch roots. It will slow just a bit for a short time but once the stock thickens it will out produce the others.

That's whatâ??s supposed to happen anyway. I just hope the plant reads the same books I do...lol

Update! I don't have much time , have to go work ,sucks. Day 16 . Things are still looking good. I trimmed the drooppy leaves and a few others that were blocking the light, seems to have no effect on them , timming that is. Got to go more to come. 16 days and flowers look good, I can't wait till they fatten up.

Fan leaves regulate internal temperature of the plant, trim with caution.

I know I'm trying my hardest not to trim but it was only a few. It's hard to let go of the phototrons methodology. My cousin says there a weed treat them like one abuse em and cut all the bang leaves off. Of coarse he is also an idiot because he never had anything look close to my first hydro. He used an ebb and flow, no ppm meter and I don't think he checked ph either. I also think he dies his stuff in the oven, taste green an not like some other dank I have had. I will not trim , I will not trim , I will not trim, I think it's working. LOL

Update, Some of my leaf tips are showing nute burn, I must of added too much. Just over 1200 ppm. Diluted some with ph balanced water this morning. I am going to flush tomarrow. All in all they don't look bad. The one I trimmed the roots on is kickin ass just the same and stem looks like it's getting thicker.. The tall one is a branch not a cola, but it wants to be. Just over 2 weeks 12/12 and I am amazed. I do not have a green thumb but I can read and take advise from the Guru's. Thanks guy's. More to come. Quick update, 22 days into 12/12. I have been flushing for 3 days, alittle nute burn. I just got a PH pen, man what a difference it makes. And the PPM's are up to 600 from just flushing and adjusting the PH. So anyway should of been off to work by now so here's the girls. I caught the end of the nascar race yesterday, Good finnish thought maybe I would do a nascar hot wheels thing. My cousin did the paint job on Ricky Rudd's car he's in Charlotte NC. Graphic arts thing. Zandor I have not trimmed any more leaves and roots are growing back and the stem is thicker. It;s the same as the other shortest one . So I guess it's hanging in there, It's in the lower left corner of all pics. more to come.

looking good, Mylar will help get light to the lower parts of the plant.

Are you going to add sidelight to fluff up the lower buds when you switch to flower?

Hey, the next grow I'm going to kind of box it in and use mylar. You can't see them but I have 2 side lights that are 75 or 100 watt hps , I will show in next pics. I salvaged them from my bosses yard lights we took down. Wish I had 4 of them. I have worked as an electrician for 20 years finding lighting is not to hard. Wife also works at electric supply house but she hates to help with my hobby. As for the help you know how those imigrants are they come and go. I'm sure he will be there for harvest. LOL

This is the end of week 4 and beginning of week 5 12/12. One of the pics shows my side light,There's 2 it needs to be raised up. And I need to get some mylar too. Trichomes are starting to show, I'm learning to use the macro on my camera. Hot here on the east coast ac can barely keep up. It's late more to come. What do you think ? maybe an oz or two. LOL. OH my wife got the bill on my PH pen. It's is better to ask forgiveness than to ask permission. RO filter system next ? LOL
