Iraq pullout scheduled for 2006
The secret British government memo, published in the Mail on Sunday newspaper and confirmed as genuine by officials, said Washington hopes to cut the U.S.-led force in Iraq from 176,000 troops to just 66,000 within a year.
It also said military leaders at the Pentagon in Washington and the regional Central Command, or Centcom, were keener to pull out than those on the ground in Iraq, suggesting discord among top American brass.
Britain, Washington's closest ally, says no firm decisions have been taken yet on any cuts and the memo refers only to one possible scenario.
"Emerging US plans assume 14 out of 18 provinces could be handed over to Iraqi control by early 2006, allowing a reduction (in allied troops) from 176,000 down to 66,000," the memo said.

Like they been stating, when Iraqi forces are able to handle the situation on their own or the Iraqi Government requests it, we WILL pull out of Iraq. :D

sure if that makes you feel better. near the end of the vietnam war they were seeking all sorts of "honorable" exit strategies.

Iraq pullout scheduled for 2006
I haven't heard of the Iraq war being compared to Vietnam since the elections.
Just the notion of us pulling our troops out kind of takes the wind out of the Industrial Military Complex taking over the country...doesn't it?

i enjoy the dems using the vietnam comparison, makes them look old and worn out.another reason the american people threw them out of office last year.another reason we are gonna pick up 3 or 4 more seats next year.

who will 'pick up' more seats? the socialist conseratives, continuing the policies of bill clinton? no doubt. 'liberals' should love george w. bush, and it appears that you do.

im not a dem! or a liberal! im assuming youre referring to me.
i wouldnt vote for either. i'd throw my vote to nader any day. if you think two stuck up upper class assholes whove never had to work a real day in their lives and are completely detached from reality gets my vote you're sorely mistaken. i dont like bush but just because kerry hasnt ruffled my feathers with his bullshit i'd jump up and vote for him either.
and if you think hillarys' going to be getting any positive threads on my behalf youve got another thing coming.

he's too shallow to see anything beyond left and right.
he needs to get together with the people who call me a republican when i bash bill clinton. there is no left and right, it doesn't make sense. it's child's play. what's that quote from mein kampf about propaganda being directed at people so even the most simple minded can understand it, and the most intellectual can 'debate' it.

thanks to corporations barraging us with psp's and double sided dvd's we've become complacent and apathetic.
nothing bothers our lives so we dont give a fuck. its so two-sided. we can either vote republican and be against terrorism or we can vote democrat and be a bunch of freedom-hating cowards. it only leads to one false solution and the american people buy it hook line and sinker.
you think theyre just guessing at an attack in canada...MY home...bush and mI5 will take good care of me and my people. after the cn tower or subway system gets bombed then watch as NORAD sails across our half of the continent and sovereignty goes down the drain. of course none of the far-right here cares because who gives a fuck about canadians?
we'll just let bombings happen and let bush and martin and blair take care of us so we can get back to our xbox live.
our experience playing halo 2 isnt going to protect us from mortar shells and warheads.

P4b i think the misinterpretation youve made is that liberal mind-sets dont want to fight.
you think blind pullout after our asses have been shown is a good thing. IT'S NOT. i want troop withdrawal but i want peace officers put in their place. you know the same limp-wristed pussies that do nothing to stop african genocide.
That way, if insurgents start shit theyd be fighting guys that wont shoot them unless fired on.
i want a war PLAN. you know as well as i do that the dissent didnt start until AFTER war was waged and people realised we were flying blind. the people that oppose the war in majority just want a better plan to fight. NOT just jump in guard the oil reserves...prove osama right on all his accusations...lose respect internationally...and talk about pulling out when its clear that the war cant be won.
im down with plastering baby killing jihadists all over the fuckin ground. straight blastin caps in they asses. not shooting guys that just want to protect their homes from obvious imperialism.
when we have a plan...youll have my support...and a whole cache of bullets riddling all the punk ass bitches of the world.

They will have peace keepers...their own military, and police. The Iraqis will be in a position to take care of their own.
I think the Gulf War was one of the reasons to protect the oil reserves. After Saddam set fire to all them rigs it was a hell of a mess to clean up.
Shooting unless fired upon is a good theory, but if your in a hostile area and a dude jumps out with an AK...I'll give our people the right to assume! Better than being dead. Tell me, if your neighborhood was surrounded by Canadian troops heavily armed would you burst through your front door with a shotgun? Hell no!

Then why wasnt that the plan from the get-go? before bush set down with his "mission accomplished" bullshit that wasnt the idea. everyone assumed we could go in there blast the shit to hell and call it a day. AFTER the reports of war dead came in, bush came up with that iraqi soldier stuff.
If the soldiers could do that in the first place why was heavy emphasis placed on american troops this whole time? and the gulf war wasnt a hard war at all...the iraqi troops surrendered and retreated in heavy loads. they're all a bunch of pansies. they were there for jobs they didnt care about iraqi sovereignty. you think that putting up what's left of the old soldier regime is going to be a big difference? "Now you boys play nice and dont try that genocide stuff anymore or ill be back"
And im not saying oil isnt important. Hell no! but if the idea you sold was to protect iraqis for freedom then you better have soldiers guardung the oil AND them.
and i have no problem with assumptions...but too many unrestricted assumptions lead to too many civilian casualties. i say we bring back the as-it-happens footage the media introduced and actually got right. no more of this mormon shit where some guy tells us whats going on and we have to believe it. i want my own visual proof.
i wouldnt burst through with a shotgun if canadians were patrolling canadian streets. but thats only because canadians dont have a habit of opressing her people/deserting them at times of war. if say...britain sent her troops and then got some pansy ass canadian army to do the work for her without giving a fuck for the civilians in crossfire...theyd feel the BUK BUK BUK from my ghetto-issued ak-47 piece too.

with all due respect, the NAVY put up the mission accomplished sign for their pilots returning home.the administration had a huge fight with the captain of that ship about it.for the record the president has never uttered those words.in the samje speech the president, said that we have a long, hard journey ahead with many battles in many places.

alright im willing to stand corrected on that one.
but who's foresight saw seven weeks of major combat operations? i dont care if a missle is fired under the guise of "shock and awe" or not its still a deadly missle if it kills people.
sadly, i dont think the iraqis can tell the difference between "major" and regular combat missions anymore.

I wouldnt be able to tell you. the mainstream media doesnt tell us whats going on, remember?
They might have them (probably do) and they might not. i cant take keith olberman's word for it i need steve the cameraman to do the talking. and i havnt seen ANY iraqis that are living there talk about how THEY feel since the "election" im getting bored of some general telling me how they're holding up. and american-appointed shi'ite puppets dont count.
but dont forget...those same puppets asked for a withdrawal timetable over and over until bush gave in...the support would slide drastically and war talks would be blown right up.
sorry for the pun.

American appointed Shi'ite puppets? You mean the ones in the delegation that the Iraqi people elected to the President and Prime minister that the elected delegation appointed. No puppets there dude, elected officials! :D

not to mention that the person who got elected interim president was not who the administration wanted.

true...we may not have anything to do with the election process but the outcome affects us too. in fact the actions of the u.s. affects most countries in the world. they dictate what we should be doing and in turn we either follow in servitude or risk pissing them off.
it's kind of ignorant to think that other nations shouldnt have a voice or opinion as to who you guys elect. im not saying you should take our stance with who we like but when you vote think about that fact. you have so much power when you vote its not just about you guys.
-

Other countries can have a voice, opinion, whatever they want. But the fact is, unless your a citizen of the U.S., who really gives a shit what your opinion is as to OUR voting process! Hell, if it was up to Europe we'd have fuckin Kerry in office!
But I guess thats how the world works, everybodies noses up other peoples asses.

thats true. i dont have any interests in being able to vote for rep or dems. but i just wanted you to remember how much power your vote and your voice counts.
i wouldnt be so vehement towards the u.s. policy if it didnt manipulate and lie to its citizens. im going to be looking at bush and not paul martin if a bomb goes off in my city.
