Weed's effects on the brain
just wondering, can anybody tell me if there's any actual negative effects on the brain? I know there's a lot of controversy about that, but some real scientific info would be great. seems everything I hear is biased, consisting of "it'll make you go psycho and use heroin!" or "it's good for you and will actaully make you way smarter!" blah blah blah. anywhoo, if anybody knows anything, feel free to chip in.

^^tru that, but smoking ur whole life (wich is unlikely) can fuck u up but ull probly quit before ur 30 so if ur planing on smoking do it. I thought weed was dumb but now ive had the best times of my life smoking and i met alot of ppl i thought were lo lofe drugies but now im best friends with.

incase it didn't tell you enough, what i meant is that marijuana is harmless. it may stimulate your mind and sedate your body but thats what it does. it wont make you insane.
in my experiences with drugs i've never done before, i've noticed that i was more prone to do them because i had already been smoking weed.
you remember the first time you smoked? all paranoid about doing it...well, i was. i think once you get over that fear with something like marijuana, it makes all those other drugs you haven't done yet easier to do.

I was sorta wondering more in the region of long-term brain damage, like permanently decreased motor skills or memory or something. plus, I only use it 2 times a week on average, so don't know if it would still do anything if it does at all.

Personally weed has not affected my memory in the slightest. This guy was president and he smoked a little weed.
(prez = guy on the right)

2 times a week? is that by choice or you just can't always buy it?
my short-term memory is horrible. but other than that i'd say i have a better memory than most.

naa that wont happen unless u smoke weed for 50 years and 5 times a day. And this isnt a bad thing but if ur thinking ur only gonna smoke 2 times a week ur very wrong, i was gonna do it every other week once and now i do it eeveryday. U will too most likely but at least ull be happy

Actually, I'm been smoking for 11 months and used to every day. I cut down because my lungs were getting a bit clogged (and didnt' want it go get worse), I don't have a lot of money for it, and I find I get a bit (but only a bit) permafried, usually if I smoke 4 days in a row or more. though it always wears off 100% after 2 days of abstinence, sometimes only 1.

meh, some people smoke every day and live to 90, others get cancer and die in 5 years. but, this cough did start around spring, so alergies are a possibilities. I just got worried after I got a cold and when I coughed up the mucus it was black (eventually after hacking up half my lungs the mucus looked normal again).

must've been allergies. i've been smoking pot and cigarettes for about two years consecutively(except for those bad days). my lungs are alright...i can't run long distances and shit but i can still hold in a huge hit for a minute.
about the decreased motor skills, as long as you pay attention to the road and other drivers you should be ok. my friends dad smokes and only has one arm...he's one of the best drivers i've seen.

MJ aint completly harmless: Teens(11-20) can get scizophrenia from chronic use. BUT that of course is not only INCREDIBLY rare, but you have to be smoking it constantly. I mean REAL constant. Im in the most dangerous zone cause im 17 and suffered depression and anxiety But it didnt make either of those worse or hindered my recovery from it.. Cause if you have existing mental ilnesses mj CAN make it worse. But certainly not on me.
*lemme know if any of my facts arent straight!

i honestly dont understand how that is even remotely possible. although you did say it was incredibly rare i still dont see it. but then again, i've put so many chemicals in my brain that i dont even know what caused what. i have some anxiety. i had some depression when i was recovering from a recent roll...boy did that drug diminish for me.
but yeah...can you tell me where you got that information?

I was getting ready to make my 5 times a day prayer but i'de just smoked a fatty and my mom yelled at me and told me i couldent pray whilst i was high so asked her why. She said because im high and i told her that i still remember how to recite my prayer and just because im high it doesent mean im out of my mind...pretty much shut her up lol.
*cough* In other words, your not gunna go insane and your not going to paralize(sp?lol) yourself so toke on!!!!!! I think you should stop thinking about the negative things about weed and concintrate on the possative things about weed! :D
Note to everybody: I cant spell for shit....sorry if its hard to read whatever i write lol but who cares spells not that big a deal in school :p
Weed's effects on the brain
i forgot to mention something.
there is some weed out there that is considered psychaedelic. nevilles haze is an extremly potent plant...but i still dont think it has any long term effects.
Weed's effects on the brain
lol, why is everybody telling me "You won't go insane"? I never said I think that'll happen, because I know it doesn't! I was asking about motor skills, memory, basic mental functions, stuff like that. not while high, permanent damage. but I'm starting to think there's nothing to worry about in that department.
on a more possitive note, weed has been extremely effective for treating my anxiety. and I don't know if any study's have shown this, but it also does WONDERS for nerve damage, I have a good smoke and it's like 80% better for 2-3 days after. the medicinal potential is pretty amazing.

My psyc told me that it can cause psychosis and blamed my last episode on weed a few mths ago.It actually wasnt the case i got mania because i was stressed about things it was not the pot.I was smoking for about 6 yrs before that and it always calmed me rather than make me psycho.I just think everyone is different and i havent had any bad affects. But other drugs such as speed will fuck your brain beyond repair.
