I never get any ads or spyware (that i know of) but I guess the program can get a little complicated.
Oh... yeah limewire doesn't lead to spyware. I think there was pre-existing stuff that was the issue. Limewire is real solid. It's open source and doesn't come with any spyware.
My first post was a bit misleading.
yea find out how bit torrent works cause u can download an entire cd at a time, works the same way as all those P2P programs except BitTorrent is a Very small internet explorer plugin
i have soulseek. i recommend it over most. my friend sent it to me, so i dont know where you could get it...i'm sure you can find it though. if not, message me and i can send it to you.

It's a really good P2P program I would recommend it esspecially if you're into more underground music, plus it's got an option to download contianing folder which makes it easy to obtain entire albums.
Ares, for sure.
BitTorrent is okay, but I don't always want an entire cd and hardly anyone has just one song, from what I saw at TorrentReactor and thePirateBay. I suggest using BearShare.
I use limewire.
... of coarse gold old IRC has never let me down. More a concept than a program... but works none the less.
Limewire is also my P2P of choice. Although the download speeds are a bit questionable at times (even in the Pro version), it's otherwise a very solid program.
But I find myself using iTunes more than any other music app these days. If you think about it, 10 bones (per full album) ain't so bad for something that's guaranteed to sound just as good as a commercially pressed cd.
It is considering I can go to the local independent music store and get the real thing for 13, and I get all the great packaging stuff that really completes an album experience.Quote:

I use limewire it would be my prefered one between ares and other p2p programs it sometimes lacks in a solid dl speed but it has pretty good search results and it doesnt have as much screwed up files like in ares and formally kazaa
bittorrent trackers, and soulseek.
Limewire, Kaazaa, Bearshare = spyware!!!
Warez and soulseek usually. I used Kazza lite k++ a streamlined version of kazaa for a while before it got all slow and shitty. =P
well Kazaa Lite 2.43 K++ is in my opinion the best music program ive ever come across, however last time i reformatted it wont work...heres my personal list (top to bottom - fav least fav)
Limewire
Bit Torrent
IRC
DC++
Ares
Dowload Accelerator Plus (pro only, free version sucks)
Azureus
Limewire kicks ass, i got a shitty computer all old and slow and shit, cant do shit on it but this and chat, and limewire works. Also like that one dude said, it was your computer. Yo mono repin can you explain more on the irc thing i saw that you mentioned it before, i had the trial version of mirc for awhile but that was when i played d2 and it ran out of uses so i un dled it. :) Thx if you can.
Ah well. I'm thinking of convenience here. Especially with today's gas prices...Quote:

To each his own.

limewire....no question about it, i been using it a couple months and i am yet to find a fake file or a virus, and the download speeds are outstanding for me
Ive found a lot of fakes on Limewire (that is my only complaint but hey its free and its bound to happen) usually its with pics, i searched for Miko Lee and DLed a pic called Miko Lee [1/6].jpeg and it was just a picture of an advertisement for www.dldvds.com, same has happend with Videos lol

if your going for albums and not individual songs i think IRC is the best, you gotta learn a few things and its a bit difficult but once you get it, you can download faster than limewire
Oh yeah and i used winmx for a while. Infact i think im gonna try winmx or a more secure version of it (winny) again sometime soon. They had fast downloads, but it was hard to find the shit i wanted, but that was like right after it first came out so it prolly has way more users now.
Alright... to reiterate ... limewire does NOT have spyware, so whoever said that you are misinformed please try again.
There are plenty of IRC tutorials out on the web. www.google.com will help you. mIRC has a trial period, but even after the trial is done you can continue to use it. There are other IRC clients, but mIRC is super easy to use for the beginner. To find stuff, either browse around various servers until you find things you like or...
www.ircspy.com
www.packetnews.com
... there are some more, but my fav is down right now because of bandwidth, so I'm not sharing it with anyone... sorry.
I use X-Chat for my IRC client I thinks its pretty easy to use. ITunes music store is okay if you would like to purchase music but removing the DRM on the Itunes music can be a pain I would think.
When it doubt, just copy the tracks from the cd you initially burn with iTunes to mp3. Yeah, it's an extra step, but it helps immensely. :DQuote:
