In a debate with Rep. Charles Rangel last night, Sean Hannity called Rangel's assertion that the Bush administation wanted to invade Iraq before Bush even became president as a conspiracy theory.

RANGEL: He already intended to knock off Saddam Hussein before 9/11, all of the people that worked in the cabinet....

HANNITY: Is that what you believe? Wait do you believe that?

RANGEL: Do you know about the Project Of A New American Century?

HANNITY: Do you believe that?

RANGEL: There's no question.

HANNITY: Wow....wow....wow. That's a conspiracy theory.

HANNITY: Hey Congressman Rangel, we'd like to thank you for the conspiracy theory portion of the show.

RANGEL: Conspiracy is what you said, I'm saying the president wanted to knock off Saddam Hussein before 9/11.

HANNITY: Alright we appreciate it, next time we'll get some evidence.

It's also a conspiracy theory, going by Hannity's line of logic, that the sun came up this morning.

Bush's own biographer, Mickey Herskowitz, said that Bush wanted to invade Iraq in 1999. He attributed the following quote to Bush.

"One of the keys to being seen as a great leader is to be seen as a commander-in-chief. My father had all this political capital built up when he drove the Iraqis out of Kuwait and he wasted it. If I have a chance to invade, if I had that much capital, I'm not going to waste it. I'm going to get everything passed that I want to get passed and I'm going to have a successful presidency."

The Project For a New American Century is a neo-con think-tank controlled by Bush's closest advisors. On page 14 of 'Rebuilding America's Defenses,' written in 2000, they wrote the following.

"While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of Saddam Hussein."

It's not a conspiracy theory if there's a signed confession.

yeah man i have to agree that all this prisonplanet SPEW is bullshit, you should try to find some other sources.

prisonplanet isn't a source...they write maybe 1% of the stuff there...they post articles from around the world, government sites, library of congress, ap, reuters, haraatz...dozens and dozens and dozens and dozens of sources, in this case a .pdf file of rebuilding america's defenses written by the project for a new american century...did you read it? it's obvious most of the people who have responded have not read it.

if you weren't so superficial you'd realize this. i check the newswires every day and also post most of the stuff i find from there, probably 90+%.

maybe 5% of my posts are directly from prisonplanet, and when that's the case, they've linked to the articles...they don't pull it out of their ass and say believe it because it's prisonplanet.

or wait! maybe alex jones personally wrote rebuilding america's defenses so years later he could link to it!! no, he did not.
