is that how u have ur set up?i have a dark quiet spot so ill b tryin my hand soon, keep u infomed zero, have u any pics of ur grow room?
Hello,
I second Zero's idea.
A specific location for information concerning closet grows would help to benefit many "new to the hobby" or small scale growers.
Good idea
Take care
Peace
yea i three agree :p
Yeah I do have a closet set-up. I think a section for us people would help us all to overcome problems which other growers don't encounter as much. Such as rapid heat buildup and plant space etc. I will post some pics as soon as I am done with it guys. I'm still waiting on a few parts.
agreed good idea Zero hope this goes to plan :)

Hello,
Wonderfull suggestion awaiting feedback.

hey lemme know too. trying to see where i'd have the space.
Don't feel bad I can't even get a section for stickies about grow tips.
For closet grows I would think the indoor growing, or hydroponics is you are growing with hydro in your closet. A closet is just a place to grow and not really a method of growing. I think he has the forum broke up into methods of growing and only general places to grow. imo
zero did u set ur system up yet???
Sorry zandor but I don't tottaly agree with that. Closet growing should be in a class of it's own for the fact that growing cannabis in such a small area is a challenge. It takes special methods that people who don't have space issues use. Heat becomes a bigger issue. Pruning methods must meet the requirements of the limited space. A different design method is needed to keep what little space you have from being lost. You can do so much to a closet grow and there is a real lack of information on it that I think could be shared here. Like here's an example. If you have a 8 foot high by 3 foot wide closet you could split that closet from one area into two areas with a shelf. Therefore I could turn my 8x3 foot closet into a 6x3 vegitative and flowering area and a 2x3 clone area. Or I could have two 4x3 sections in one closet and grow cannabis in different stages so I would harvest on a more frequent basis. Or take those same 4x3 areas and use the lower area for soil growing and the upper area for hydroponic growing. Not to mention closet grows usally require more advanced ventilation methods. The possibilities are endless and those ideas and other ideas that people have could be shared on the forum and who would benefit? All of us.Quote:

As a new forum in the cultivation area.
As well as a new FAQ section for the stickies to go.
Ron is such a good guy.
Thanks Ron
Hey guys,
I am new to these boards in the past couple of weeks and this is my first post.
Kudos to Zero for pushing for the new Closet/Cabinet section. I also do not have the room for a big grow and was doing research here and elswhere regarding building a cabinet for a microgrow. At first I felt I would need to put one in my garage but the temps here in SoCal get way out of hand this time of year. I have done a ton of research in the past week and believe I will now do a closet grow. The temps in the house are almost never above 80 degrees. (I know I'll still need to vent heat out of the grow area but it will be a lot easier starting with air temps in the 70s)
Looking at the scrog method and some form of hydro (NFT,Drip,Bubbler???) I am not a total newbie to growing but only have done outdoor/soil.
Love this place and am very grateful to Ron and Zandor and others for the help they provide.
thanks a bunch,
Max Blast

Zandor, or whomever
Just a quick thought about new forum though.
The info is overwhelming for many of us just starting out.
If it could be done practically I wonder if an FAQ could be done up, that would say recommend how posters could indicate whether they were posting info that was
1. Strictly Hydro related
2. Strictly Soil related
3. Or, if info is for "either or".
Definite should be of help
Thanks
would you like to write it? someone has to and i'm sure if you set it up right it'll get immortalized...
del,
I'm only doing my second grow ever - in soil.
What I could do maybe would be some illustrations from peoples pictures.
AutoCAD drawings with dimensions on space setups for various techniques (hydro, scrogging, etc.), shelving arrangements,
People could send their best pics to [email protected]
Can't do it too soon though. Need to make own light box as I'm right up against end of veg cycle.

isnt there an old book named "closet cultivator"? seems to ring a bell in my head. oh wait, im just baked. ive contemplated the closet deal since i have roommates. anyone have any luck trying it?
can anyone help? ive got a closet set up just started & i need some info
Hear hear, lets have a closet grow section.
I'm wondering how I'm gonna get weed to grow in a 2' tall box.
Yes, it's a good idea to put up info on Closet designs, so we can design our own.
I conjecture that the critical details are in the arrangement of the light fittings and the pots to grow the herb in. Info and pics would be welcome here, I'm sure.
At the moment, I'm gathering parts for a mini structure to start seeds in... trying to get a hold of two light sockets [for compact flourescent bulbs] and a seed planter tray, got the rest, including a timer.
Plan to construct a larger version of the thing, of course, for the mature plants eventually, with a number of flourescent light fittings. I do have room for a big version... just haf ta clean out the literal junk upstairs..! :D
its done hereQuote:

Oh yes...
BTW, thanks for the link, NoWhereMan.
Can we pool our info on lighting fixtures in our closets here?
I have built a little [relatively - it'll fit on a desk and is meant to grow seedlings...] light box which has equivalent of four hundred watts of lighting power, using four 18w compact cool-white fluorescent bulbs, and has a computer fan for ventilation [not that it needs it yet, as it is open at the front].
I have not painted it flat white yet, as I'm trying to get a hold of a 430w metal halide bulb fitting to install into it as well - don't worry about the electronic timer, as it's rated to handle 2.4 kilowatts of load. [Have you seen the prices on those metal halide things? Eye-boggling expensive!]
I had understood that for indoor growing, and to get as much leaf as possible, one needs to supply as much light as possible. And for optimium results, the light spectra should approximate the solar spectrum [particularly the summer sunlight], apparently.
Fluorescents apparently work, but are diffuse enough that they need to be rather close to the leaves for efficiency, and my understanding was that the metal halide [sungro brand?] combined with fluorescent fittings would be optimal.
Anyone have better suggestion?
